Project Management Challenge
- Version control always seems to be a challenge as teams work in Excel or Word.
- Someone creates a document and then sends it via email for everyone to review
- How often do you ask “Who has the most recent Excel files?”
- Someone makes one change and everyone else is out of sync
- How often does someone reach out to the project manager to ask if they have the correct version?
Use Confluence as the documentation repository
- Develop documentation in Confluence as the project progresses across various phases
- Encourage you to STOP working in one-off documents and start COLLABORATING in Confluence.

Quick question. Why use action item when you can use Jira to track ToDO tasks?
This is awesome... thank you so much for this video...I need a small help...In the end, you mentioned that we can log into your website to get the step by step guide to build this in confluence but I couldn't find it .. could you pls share the step by step guide so I can try here.. thank you
I can tell you put a lot of effort into your templates/etc, and I hope people have enjoyed them. We're still at the beginning part where we start creating tasks and learn how to assign metrics/kpis, but eventually we'll get to the point that these lessons will be valuable.
Hi, Thanks for your video, Could you let me know how can I combine all the requirement traceability matrix in several pages into a single?
Thank you. 'Requirements Traceability Matrix' is the term I have been searching for 🙂 I have been on projects that had a long backlog list with no other supporting documents so no one could tell how much of the project was there vs missing, or how each story was related to others. I realized the need for a higher-level project management document (like an instruction manual). That way we could see the whole project, the status of every story, and how the stories fit together. At any time we could pick an area of the system and have a more in-depth discussion to see if we had all the requirements (or not). We ended up creating a similar Confluence doc as you with the Jira user story links so we could see the statuses and assignees. I am wondering what options there are to gather those statuses into a parent overview page? Reason: Confluence's edit feature is tedious with long pages so we would probably make sub-pages for each main project feature or category.
Andy, you didn't explain how to create the Status Dashboard. How is this helpful?
Hi Andy,I ordered for your ebook but can’t find my download led pdf.
Do you think you can use confluence for Lessons Learned?
Would love to meet to go over how to set these up. I use more of a watrfall/hybrid method and need some help setting up all the pages and stories needed.
Fantastic video!
Since when did Charlie Sheen start making confluence videos 😮
Sounds like Rob Schneider to me :)
Project reports seems very useful but you didn't show how to use it. At least how to link the pages to update automatically on the status
This ebook has the tutorial www.tacticalprojectmanagement.com/shop/manage-projects-with-atlassian-confluence/
I agree. people come on here to know how to do it
hi, how did you do the status report and dashboard roll up page?
Great intro! Only issue I think worth mentioning, when exporting status reports to pdf or word docs, often the jira-macros don't display/print well.
For those 1:1 reports, do you create a new page each day? Or just put new day up too on same page? A new page a day seems like it would get clunky in the tree hierarchy.
In the 1:1 reports, they are created weekly and I simply copied the old one and edited it with a new date. You can edit the same document each week and use version history to refer back but I prefer to create a new page
This is a great video and presented seamlessly, thank you
Thanks you. This video helped me a lot!
Is this for the cloud version and current process or is there an update for cloud in 2022? Thanks!
It works for both versions
Andy, This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing your mastery of confluence. I watched these two videos 5 times.
Great insight into how I can manage projects using confluence!!
Hi Andy, I badly need this confluence page for my Program. I am very new to confluence. i need a readymade solution to follow and create the same structure as shown in the video :)
Can we get the file?
Hi - The actual files you have to create manually. The ebook on the technique is here www.tacticalprojectmanagement.com/shop/manage-projects-with-atlassian-confluence/
Hi Andy, Thanks for sharing this....I purchased your instructions but still having some issues w/ my Dashboard. The stats and text in the columns is not display in the overall dashboard. Please advise.
Nevermind...Just found your email address.
@@keshajackson8814 I'm glad you found it! Feel free to email me and I'll try to assist.
Does this works offline? is that accessible out of cost?
Hi Andy, This is awesome. Would like some instructions on how to build that status report. Thanks
Hi thank you for the comment. You can get it here www.tacticalprojectmanagement.com/shop/manage-projects-with-atlassian-confluence/
How is this better than google sheets? i find the filters in sheets far more intuitive and equally useful...
Only thing I hear in support of confluence is having a single file with latest version. What would you say it has over a cloud doc solution like google doc. In my org, the entire business use google doc but in the technology team, we are wondering whether we should keep our documentations in google drive or in confluence. What do you suggest?
Hi Pratik - Google docs is useful however it also the ability to organize related documents easily. You can use a folder structure but Confluence enabled better collaboration for an IT team. I use it for product documentation on implementations and I don't have to open a Google doc to find it. Considering confluence's roadmap macro, task report macro and its integration with JIRA, Confluence is a better option for collaboration. However we use Google docs as well and it works well with a Confluence
Your status page - how are you pulling data from sub-pages?
Disregard - I see you are charging for the tutorial. I'll pay for it.
@@branchclan6112 Thanks! You can use the page report macro to set it up! Let me know if you have any questions!
I don't wonder why you have no dislikes :) well done and thank you.
That’s awesome!
Thanks! I hope you find it useful!
Apologies Andy, found the step by step in the pdf file
Excellent! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Can you guide me pls how to find the step by step guide pdf file?
Hi Andy, I just bought your package from your website but it is the same video as what is here on youtube. How do we get the step by step tutorial to create the consolidated status report as you indicated on youtube? Thanks
