That guitar had problems for the cheap price or it was ok ?
It's a perfectly good guitar and feels great to play!
There’s certainly a strange feel to the place.
The mist definitely gave the forest an eerie ambience that morning...thanks for watching!
Do you think there would have been a cairn over the top originally? It's quite unusual being so tall and relatively short. Probably some big stones missing right enough. 🎄 Hope you have a good Yuletide David. Good luck for 2025. 🍀
Just had a quiet one, I tend to hibernate this time of year to avoid the never-ending grey skies, rain and big storms 😆 Best wishes for the new year, looking forward to more of your videos! According to the info board a cairn would have covered most of the tomb but the capstone would have remained visible...as far as I remember there are some cairn stones embedded in the soil here and there around the site.
Aye , I am not a Christmas fan either. It's all got a bit ridiculous. Much prefer to rest for a couple of days. Regarding the channel, I am going to take a sabbatical. I have too much going on and too many responsibilities with family and work. No time for any fun unfortunately. I did get a couple of scenes for my short film project shot a few weeks ago. That was good craic . Hopefully get a chance to travel and shoot some more scenes in spring. But I will have to play it by ear. That's interesting about the dolmen, it must have been awesome looking. Anyway David, take care and I'll catch you later. 👍🍀
Sorry to hear that and I'll miss your uploads but real life gotta come first...anyway, I hope you have a great new year!
Aww... cheers David, that's really nice bud. I'll be back. 👊🍀
Thanks for sharing your work.
My pleasure, thank you for watching!
I like this video. The size, calmness and better weather 😎
It is a lovely and peaceful location deep in the heart of the countryside! Hope you had a great Christmas and best wishes for 2025!
Wow, wonderful video David! There wind sound sounds likes an intro to a Pink Floyd song😃 Glad to see you're out and about👍
☺️ good comparison Gunn 😂😂 God Jul for your first Xmas back in the old hometown 🎄🎅
@david_v2.1 😊merry xmas David🎅. Enjoy the holidays🎄✨️! 🥰
Was getting confused between Gallion and Gullion. Great video regardless.
Yes, I was googling stuff trying to find out some things about the cairn and Gullion kept coming up
What a view...
Brilliant view from up there Billy!
What a place to have your cairn . Really enjoyed seeing up there. No one else about, which is always a bonus and the dark woods looked spooky...👍 Loved the wee animation as well.
It's a beautiful walk thru the forest and when the mist cleared the views were extra-special...a few lads were buzzing around on their quad bikes for a while but they didn't stay long...baltic up there too!
Yes, I have to agree - that's the most phallic looking standing stone I've ever seen! Nice drone work as well :)
😀Thanks Donna!
Yep..... that's a peach.....😂 The trail looks amazing, I have never walked any of The "Ways" here , just never got round to it. Great shots David. 👍🍀
😅I'm sure the people who erected it had a laugh about it too. I've never walked any of those trails either...getting too old for it now😆
Nephillim before the flood.these are 7000 orore yrs old
The earliest tombs in Ireland are 5000 years old...they can be dated by carbon-14 analysis of bones and other organic material found inside the tombs
❤also sardinia used to be called after the the tuatha.shardania.
Tuatha de danaan
Think gil gal means pile of stones.in ancient hebrew.so would don e gal.mean dans stone.
Donegal, from the original Irish spelling Dún na nGall, means 'the fort of the foreigners'
Awesome location David, must have been a beautiful tomb . That's fascinating about the skeleton, unlikely to be Neolithic though....? What do you make of it? Nice trippy boomerang...😁🍀
I agree...what it said on the website was that the skeleton was found when clearing stones around the tomb, not in it, so maybe it was a medieval murder victim buried in a shallow grave😱probably still lying somewhere in the field!
Poor soul....
Hi David, just catching up . Sad state, I guess we're lucky there is anything left. It's great you are documenting these forgotten sites. 👍🍀
Yes, I knew it wasn't much to look at but it was only a short distance from where I was driving to. Only stayed a few minutes for some pics and clips...not like I'll ever be back to see it again 😀
Yo That’s Sick Bro 0:20
Very clear and well filmed. A lot of people do not know about these. Who knows what ancient body may be buried beneath.
Thank you Jo! A lot of these tombs have been excavated but there are many more which still hold their secrets
Great find sir
Thank you...always a thrill to arrive at a tomb I haven't visited before
Another case of the church Christianising a pre Christian sacred site. I am guessing the church was built using the cairn material. Lovely wee find David, it looks very atmospheric. 👍🍀
Yes no doubt, the church has been in ruins over 400 years now so it's really ancient too.
Wow you found a huge one there😮 have they done some digging around it? Great video as always David!👌🏆
Don't think so Gunn, they must have cut the grass down so short and it died in a week of hot sun/no rain...tusen takk!
Each to their own. If that the reasoning then the name would be immaterial to you.
Lovely spot, great video.
Thanks Jo!
How come your not getting the hits on your channel. Change name to Irelands Ancient
ah it's because the videos are crap 🤣🤣 it's no big deal!
The videos are good. You need the name the channel properly and tag the videos properly
Thing is, I started this channel to post guitar videos...I don't post any of those videos much nowadays, but I might do in the future and I might post totally random videos now and again too. I've never chased views, it would be the easiest thing in the world to post clickbait titles/thumbnails for the views...I mainly use youtube to store video clips because I've lost so much footage and pics due to the blackscreen of death on old laptops...I do change the username randomly and very occasionally
That's an old windmill without blades as far as am aware
yeah there are lots of them dotted around the countryside, most are in ruins
@@david_v2.1 oh I didn't know there was more thought it was just the one
There's a map to find historical monuments, buildings and ruins in NI...here is the link if you're interested. This is the newer version...not as good as the older version but still useful experience.arcgis.com/experience/8bb16b64f0994385a5c141027ae9d33e/#data_s=id%3AdataSource_2-18f19ce164c-layer-79%3A17828
@david_v2.1 I done digging on Google Maps and there is a lot of Windmill ruins mostly in county down its quite impressive
Very interesting David, never seen one like it. More grooves...🤔 Thanks for sharing.👍🍀
Not your usual standing stone!
Beautiful little video!😍😍😍 those grooves must be artificial, ey? What a gem stone! Very Nice 👌🍀🌾
Beautiful big stone Gunn!!
@@david_v2.1 stunning!!👌😍
Great intro. Running your channel gives you a great excuse (I mean reason lol!) to go visit these places.
Haha yes...unfortunately it means I have a tonne of clips to edit into videos so my phone is constantly running low on storage :/
What a stunner...the cap stones are amazing and heavily grooved . Although it looks more natural than the stone at Athgreaney , there could be some correlation there . Nice shots , loved the feather the crows let you , what camera are you using?
It's a fantastic tomb!! The feather was being blown around in the breeze so I picked it up and planted it in the ground☺️using the iphone 12 camera
I would like to know: 1. How many places in Ireland are like this. 2. How many of those places you have been. 😊
Ancient monuments...thousands I've visited maybe a couple of hundred...need a few lifetimes to get round all of them!!
@@david_v2.1 you are well on your way in this lifetime - keep em coming
I love the Hawthorn ❤🌳 great filming as always. Very smooth 👍😊 Place reminds me of the place where we could not acsess the the Stones cos it was in a field full of cows..there was a small white house sitting in the middle of a crossroad there..😅😅 do you get where i mean?
Yes I remember that well😅 ...it was Stanton Drew stone circle in Somerset, England...the wee house is called the Round House...time flies!!!
@@david_v2.1 it sure does. Great trips and great memories 😊😊
Very interesting site David. The knarly Thorn is a beauty, must be hundreds of years old . Don't know what to make of the groovy rock art , never seen anything like it . Great share bud. 👍🍀
First time I've seen a deep groove like that in a stone. Nice circle...went back the next morning with the drone but the field was full of cows so I drove on
@@david_v2.1 😅 Bloody cows....🐮 You can't turn your back on them.
That is a super video and such interesting research about the stones. I would love to know what the art meant. I posted a link above that starts with some information linked to sites in Ireland. It may be of interest. Thanks for sharing your photography...it is lovely to see.

Another wee gem. I thought the opening scene showed a tree stump!
😂
I’m getting some real bad wickerman vibes from that giant…
😂 it was way too cold and windy to light a fire that day!
What an incredible place! 😮
Amazing place Nic, well worth the climb up the mountain!
Big and chubby!😄
No it's a dinky wee dolmen 😊 small but perfectly formed
Fantastic photos David! Wow what a night you had there!🌌👌❤
Yes it was a great night! Hundreds of people were there though!!
Wow! What a place! Looks perfect 👍 ten out of ten
Hola Gunn, it was beautiful up there, a bit windy though!
Wow! Great find! Quite similar to summit of Slieve Croob
No masts or transmission station up here to spoil the view though!
@@david_v2.1 great point! I did a brief video up Croob last year but quality was poor with the wind. Will try again soon.
Really beautiful site David. A brave hike up there , but so worth it I am sure . Just you and the earth ,sky and wind. 😌 Thanks for sharing . 👍🍀
Yes the last section was a tough climb but great views and saw my first Irish lizard at the tomb!
🍀 The lucky lizard.... your lucky to see one David. Pretty rare wee beastie. I caught a glimpse of one years ago in Mayo . 👍🍀
David, You're amazing! Let's be friends and hang out!
Are there Woodwose/Wildmen around?? Is that where the large white one comes out of the mist ? Genuine enquiry i research such things..thanking you..BillyGWMorgan.
Not aware of anything in this area...Ballyboley Woods in County Antrim has many reports of high strangeness
@@david_v2.1 thank you David I'm a member of IBRO Irish Bigfoot research organisation..I was on Deborah Hatswells BBR podcast you listened to..I'd like to chat to you if that's possible
@@BillyGWMorgan how do I get in touch Billy?

Beautiful location David ... Great find , it must be even prettier when all those Bluebells are in flower in May. Shame the jet spoilt the tranquillity , but it`s hard to escape it anywhere now. 👍🍀
I love finding tombs in the woods - such a magical setting - even though they were originally erected at a location where they could be seen unobstructed from points all round the landscape
Lovely big cap , it almost looks heart shaped. So , you managed to get away down the east coast for that road trip you mentioned ....nice. Is your wee wagon a micro camper...?
Yes it's a big diamond shaped capstone...had a great time down there! Lots of stones, circles and tombs. Yes just got a fold out bed in the back and a wee gas camping cooker...does the job!
not diamond...triangular!!
@@david_v2.1 Cool , I have been looking at a few different small van conversions recently. Definitely does the job... better than a tent that's for sure . I converted my van back in 2009 before van life really became a thing . She's getting on a bit now though.
You'll get much better mileage and they're better for navigating those narrow winding roads.
This ugly monstrosity does not belong on Mullaghcarn or anywhere else. It should be demolished immediately. Our stupid councilors paid out a lot of our money to deface the mountain with such a horrid construction..
I kind of agree with you up to a point...firstly it shouldn't have been sited so close to a prehistoric tomb. The other sculpture by the same artist in Davagh Forest is beside the kids playground, so maybe somewhere more easily accessible for the kids and disabled would have been better at Gortin. But I like the sculptures...public art is a good thing...it provides a sense of belonging, a focal point for communities and it's well proven that it reduces stress an social anxiety....besides, the masts and transformer station on top of the mountain are the ugliest of horrid constructions
@@david_v2.1 yes it is bad enough having communication masts without adding to the desecration.
Great job. As always!
Thanks chum!
👍
Looks like a lovely quiet location, the wee boardwalk is a nice touch. Amazing tomb , and relatively mint .... great share bud. 👍🍀
Yes Cavan Burren Park makes for a good day trip...never many people around
👍
