Overly religious parents who thought they could just pray the problem away 🙄 I typically respect faith and support people freedom of religion but if your faith is getting in the way of someone BEGGING you for help because they are terrified they're going to HURT SOMEONE your beliefs are 💩 I know plenty of devout Christian people who absolutely would NOT turn their back on their child the way those parents did. Religion is NOT an acceptable excuse to let your child suffer or to be so terrified of themselves that they would choose to literally maim themselves out of desperation. And this is ALSO why sex ed is so important. This is unrealistic because if someone actually openly expressed this to a doctor and that doctor did not find them psychiatric help and prevent them from hurting themselves, than theyd be the ones in trouble, legal trouble so most of not all doctors would have had that boy detainee somewhere where he wouldnt be a danger to himself or others while they worked with him on his issues.
