That's some great work Doug, 👍😎
Hey,your battery's flat😮. What shape should it be?🤔🇬🇧😂😂. Yes,we do say it's flat rather than dead🤔
The surprising thing is that the battery is flat but not dead, lol.
Another great detail update,Doug. Axle looks great👍. Over here we have a sealing tape called PTFE. It's for sealing joints and is Teflon based. Is it the same as the tape you are using??
No, because Teflon has no adhesive. PVC tape is made from PVC, yes plastic. It's stiffer then electrical tape but not buy much. It's very temp sensitive It will shatter in the cold and super stretch in heat. It is pressure sensitive, I was am told . It was made for Commercial insulating . I was a industrial insulator Heavy steam ( high pressure) Ammonia Refrigeration or process that need head or cold to be kept in the system. I did system that from 1200 deg° F to below -30 ° F. All of these you could not use this tape at all .
@DB.scale.models wow. 👍
So this video was for all those Rivet Counters right? 🤣 Awesome video as always Doug... Sorry to hear you lost your puppy that is always so so sad... 😥🐕 LLAP 🖖
Yes, the old rivet counters none here but us two 😆. She will be missed, only have Panzer ( my son named him) left. He is old, too, but doing well.
Amazing work Doug
Thanks Tom.
I was riveted to the vid Doug and caught the punch line👍🤣. I'm very sorry to hear you've lost another dog and it is heartbreaking when one dies😭😭. Best wishes from jolly old England👍😎 Pete 🤓

Everything was magnetic Every tool I had, that sucks
@DB.scale.models I bought a new scalpel, the other day. I've discovered it has a magnet in the bottom as loads of cheap steel pins are hugging it🤣🤣. Who wants a magnet in a scalpel 😣
A surgeon looking for a bullet 😆 lol
@DB.scale.models 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice work on the chain Doug, nice progress buddy
Thanks Tom . I have to keep on top of it because there's a lot to forget and the order of assembly is very rigid ,the most rigid scratch build I ever had done!
I always enjoy your vids,Doug. Chain was good and there was something else ,oh yeah paint,I use a variety of makes👍
Lovely work.
Thank Achim
Oh no,I'm in tears,Doug 😭having to rebuild the wheels after all that work😣
No, just one wheel but that enough, right. I didn't like that one ,the new one is better but I need to improve how I make them.
Nice work Doug
Really nice work Doug, 😎👍
Thanks Tom
Tom, I would like your imput on this model. As an aircraft armor ship modeler , I would like to capture a time of the Blitzen Benz like 1900-1917 her glory years Most likely, after a race, she would be dirty ,exhaust stain side oil flung from the chains, etc ect. Or should I model her shiny like she is today or when she was new in 1909. Your input is very welcome because you're a car modeler.
@@DB.scale.models Post race condition would be cool Doug
What a great start to my day😃. Coffee, cigarette and you👍😁
Lol
Question, Pete ? What would you like to see. The past Blitzen Benz in all of its glory, dirt in all exhaust stains on its side? As you know, I am a military and military avation modeler first . I always want to capture a moment in times past Or should I model it the way it looks today? Your input is very well come.
I think I would do a weathered race version but on a diorama base with a dirty driver and mechanic. But. That would add another mountain of work and without it would just look grubby mess. So ,boringly, I think it best to make it look concourse and clean.both for time and viewers.
Pete, I only have 37 views with this model. It's not well received by the car modelers. I am building it for me and the 37 viewers I have watching it. Did you think the Corvette C7R was that dirty I did? Well, it's one yes and one no, you and Tom.
@@DB.scale.models I've deleted two replies so far. I'm changing to email 👍
Great progress,Doug. I have fun with d/sided tape.too. Chassis looks good👍😀
Really nice work Doug!!
Thanks Tom
I really enjoy watching your videos.im always seeing techniques I hadn't thought of. Great stuff,Doug 👍😃
Same to you and your techniques
Thanks for the shout out,Doug 👍😃. I'm always glad to help. 👍😀..Chain and sprockets look great. Tremendous work👍👍🍻😎Pete
No a problem Pete at all.
Brilliant work Doug
If the engine had been made with bolt down flanges to mount it to a plate, then I think they would have continued with those mounts. Are there no tell tale signs of cross-member mounting points on the outside of the chassis
No way to see anything, the underside is covered in steel sheet metal in a bow shape , less drag, in some ways it was ahead of its time.
@@DB.scale.models then I think I'd make some crossmembers from the engine mounts and fit the engine to align where the exhaust ports are,
Thanks, Pete! I have an old side view photo of the 200hp benz engine. It shows four (4) mounting points, two front two rear . There is more like a tab of steel cut from channe iron, my guess so far. These would be riveted to the main frame, making the motor apart of the frame. Keep an eye 👁 on your email. I will send a photo today of the motor. So you can see it and give me your thoughts on it. All WW1 aircraft motors german where made from race cars engines like the 120hp Mercedes online 6 Was used, and the idea was used for bigger motors .
I shall look further into WWI German aircraft. A big 1/32 build the other day. There's a lot of references for them too👍. I'll check my email later too👍
Morning Doug 👍😎. I like👍your fabricating skills and brave attempts at making these things👍😀. I would have been stealing parts from various kits🤔
Just amazing work Doug, 👍😎
Great stuff,Doug. I was amazed to see you able to squeeze your soldering iron between all those pins👍😀. By the way,I have black fingernails today, over silver and red oxide primer🤣🤣
Yep those are a man nails I perfur with is some black grease under the nail too 😜
@@DB.scale.models 🤣🤣🤣👍
Amazing work Doug
Thanks, Tom. I hope that your ok in Florida!
@@DB.scale.models All good here Doug, 😎👍
Great video,Doug 👍😎. I do enjoy watching your fabrication👍😎. I've watched a few videos of this car now,the real ones, and I've spotted several changes in it. I think it was part of its development. Dawn of motor racing and experimental🤔. Thanks for showing and best wishes from jolly old England👍😎 Pete 🤓
Yes, I agree because it clocked at 140 mph on Daytona on the beach I been there in the winter it was cool temp. But when it was raced at Indianapolis at that track It was dirt then but banked. that I can see it looked like summer? How hot, what was the humidity? What I am trying to say is was extra cooling is needed. Hot thinner air with high moisture content makes motors run hot. I to spotted things like at Indy, there was a speedometer drive attached to the front right wheel, and a cable going to the side of the cockpit there was placed a speedometer. Then I seen a different photo it was on the left side? No the negative was not flipped. First photo was 1/4 front view The last was a 3/4 rear view left side.
Looks awesome Doug, 😎👍
It'll be you that needs pressure testing after that👍😅😅👍😎. I hope to see more soon.👍😎
Bummer having to make it all again. But watching your videos is inspiring👍😎
Well, Pete, it was not a bummer at all . As you know, it's a quest of making something above bord. I just could not settle for the first one, it was so far off, when I put the two photos one of the real thing and then my creation, well, I knew as I was posting it I was going to remawe'll, again Pete . I could see an easier and better way of making it. So a redo is a must Do.
Well, the header expansion tank holes water , really my pants 👖 where wet (not an old age event) From diping it and water And flipping it over ( slow learner ) spills a small amount on me every time, lol 😆 .
I quite often end up making a Mark 2 version, with lessons or ideas gained from Mark 1 👍🤔all part of the joys of scratching🤔👍😀. I haven't seen so much brass work since I was an apprentice 👍😀
Amazing work Doug!!
Thanks Tom.
I bought a tablet.so I have a bigger screen. But basically, I'm on a phone to record or watch.
Computers have 2 computers a desk to I edit with that. And a laptop it my reference computer of photos of aircraft tanks, ships, cars it sits buy my side while making something 😊
@@DB.scale.models I've got quite a lot of books🤓

That was a great build ,Doug👍👍😃. I've enjoyed every stage and learnt a lot from it all. 👍👍😎Well done mate and best wishes from jolly old England 👍😎Pete 🤓
Don't you for a minute think I never learned from your channel, Pete ! Your radiator class is one of the best on the subject. And that's saying a lot in my mind. You keep being Jolly in England ,and I will keep watching 👀 !
