Godot AStar3D Pathfinding Update
The AI is now more smart in navigating the lofi pixelart spaceship environment and they avoid walking over other AI agents. The blocks carried by the bots can be removed and added by the player which will tie in to the puzzle and combat mechanics of the game. All the lines and arrows and such display what's going on with the pathfinding.
Based on Godot's AStar3D pathfinding. I chose this approach over navmeshes since it's easier to make changes to the navigation on the fly like making the bots able to climb over blocks placed by the player.
If you're interested in the project please like video and subscribe too if you feel like it. They cost nothing and it'll help me a great deal with the visibility of the project. Thanks and sorry for begging! 😀

Block Carrying Bots Aboard a Godot 3D Space Ship
มุมมอง 448หลายเดือนก่อน
Continuing the prototyping of game aboard a lofi 3D pixel art spaceship. I took the first steps of adding AI and locomotion into the game with these helpful-looking little block carrying bots. They have procedurally driven animations and an extremely rudimentary idle/wandering mode.
DO NOT LOOK AT THE LASER | godot engine 3d

Do not look at the laser with the remaining eye! 👁 Created a laser block for my lofi pixel art 3D indie game. It doesn't harm the player yet but it looks like it could!

Godot game prototype: blocks and movement!
มุมมอง 2232 หลายเดือนก่อน
First steps in prototyping game mechanics! Ability to pick up and place blocks as well as character movement (it's kinda crucial!) and collisions. Climbing and crouch are done as well. Character won't be able to jump due to high G force from the rapid acceleration of the spaceship! 🚀😉

Goa Trance. Very much inspired by the classic sounds of the 90s. You know the deal: hypnotic pulsating psychedelic grooves. Space lasers and more bleeps than you can shake a stick at. Coming soon to Bandcamp… Speech sample used with permission from Retro Goa Explorations episode 60: th-cam.com/video/GfSlE-7RrCA/w-d-xo.html I highly recommend the series for all friends of 90s goa trance!
Mapping The Crevice

store.steampowered.com/app/2676110/The_Crevice/ Here's a minimap for your spelunking delight! It should prevent you from getting lost in the caves. Do mind your step while looking at the map though! All the games that I've worked on that take place in creepy underground caverns, Legend of Grimrock and Noita, have been huge successes. I'm eager to find out if the formula still works with The Cre...

Yo man, this is awesome!
@@ealy3545 thanks! ✌️
For voxel graphics it looks good. But it's completely unclear what to expect from the game.
@@endrgar thanks! Most of the game systems are still waiting prototyping (these bots are just one step along the way there) but the idea currently is that the game would be an FPS with an emphasis on puzzles and exploration. Some combat with enemies is also in the plans but the intention is to make it pretty infrequent but tough. Maybe somewhat similar in tempo and intensity as oldschool imsim or survival horror games have instead of fast paced action. Or that’s the plan! We’ll see how it goes once I get further along with the prototyping. 🙂
@@antti_tiihonen Good luck to you. It will be interesting to see what happens. The idea sounds interesting.
@@endrgar Thanks. There's still a lot of work left to do but so far things seem promising.

Very cool.
the dream of doom 3 lives on
@@LOC-Ness the screens were really tasty in that game
Nice ! How does it work ?
The screen uses Godot's UI system that renders into a subviewport (aka. render to texture). The resulting texture is used on a material on a 3d object. User inputs are passed into the UI as mouse events. The mouse position is figured out by raycasting from camera against a collider on the screen with a bit of math to map the raycast hit position on the surface of the 3D collider into 2D coordinates of the screen
Wow beautiful
Personnel _are_ advised...
@@jamesoneill4607 good catch
This is great and exactly the style I love. Can I ask you how did you manage to get this result, any tutorials or resources are very appreciated!
@@obliviscarisomnia thanks! I did’t really depend on any tutorials specifically. I had a style in mind and a pretty good idea of the various techniques necessary to do it. The most essential bits are displacement mapping, done with contact refinement parallax mapping in this case, and a color correction LUT with a constrained palette (I essentially just applied indexed colors to the LUT to constrain it to a palette). Good lighting and materials are very important too.
@@antti_tiihonen as a beginner game developer all those terms sound so alien to me but i will research about them, thanks a lot!:)
@@obliviscarisomnia sorry for the jargon 😅 Everything build on top of basic fundamentals so getting your head around 3D graphics and how a game engine draws them are the first steps. Then all of these exotic spices can be sprinkled on top one by one, learning as you go. 🙂 It can be overwhelming at times but all it takes is time and persistence!
