Surreal XinJiang Part 4
In the last few days of our journey, we ventured into the thin air in the Pamir Plateaus along the Karakoram Highway. From Kashgar, the largest city in the extreme west of China, we travelled to Tashkurgan, a city close to the Pakistan border. We visited two high altitude lakes in the Pamir Plateaus, and soaked up history at the remains of the 2000 year old Stone Fort in Tashkurgan. Some members of our travel group experienced mild to quite severe symptoms of high altitude sickness. I myself felt quite short of breath while climbing the steps along the shore of the high altitude lakes. The thin air and the biting cold was not a good combination for one's well-being! Despite this, everyone got their spark back when greeted with the jaw-dropping beauty of the sceneries.

Surreal XinJiang Part 3

Into the 10th day of our journey, our eyes are still being feasted by vista of new geological landforms such as Danxia and Yardangs that we have not encountered before. Also worth mentioning is a visit to a virgin forest of Euphrates poplar in the Tarim basin. Chinese admire these trees for their vitality and ability to thrive in the harshest environment, giving them the name "hero trees". We a...

YangShuo is about one and a half hours south of GuiLin and is arguably a more favoured location for viewing the dramatic beauty of the limestone karst landscape in the whole region. Thank you Dazza really appreciate the videos of this resort. It’s hard to get a gauge on photos of the resort online obviously they take and edit them dramatically. So really appreciate your effort. My wife and I are looking at staying here for our anniversary do you think 5nights is a good amount of time? Once again thank you.

    • @dazzasaussieadventures2896
      @dazzasaussieadventures2896 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Yes I think 5 nights seems to be the optimal amount of time to spend in a resort like this. This is also the same duration we spent there. As my wife and I grow older, we tend to enjoy a more relaxing holiday by engaging in less activities, unlike our first visit to the Maldives a few decades ago when we did 2-3 SCUBA dives each day. Crazy, right? We didn’t even dive this time and only went on a whale shark tour which I highly recommend if you are that inclined. If you are not planning to dive or engage extensively in your chosen water sports (for example they offer free use of stand-up paddle boards), you will definitely have a very relaxed time there with a 5 nights stay. If you stay longer, you might begin to feel that things start to get a bit repetitive and the novelty of the luxury begins to wear off. Even though the total area of the resort is immense, you can only roam freely on certain parts of the main island. And honestly the snorkelling around the 2 main areas is just average. Don’t expect to see colourful corals or larger marine life in the accessible snorkelling areas in the resort. In the lagoon where the two sections of over-the-water bungalows are, there is really not much to see. While I wouldn’t give a very high rating to the snorkelling around the vicinity of the resort, I would give the highest rating to the service of the staffs in this resort. The quality of the service would more often than not make or break your stay, and I would say I was very impressed by the staffs in general, and especially those serving in the restaurants. Hope you guys enjoy your stay there as much as we did.

    Nice video 👍. I was in Guilin early in March this year. The river boat ride was fair. River water level was too low and it did not go to YangShuo. YangShuo scenery seems better than Guilin. I will definitely ride on the bamboo rafting trip along Yulong river in my next trip, 2024.
