There is alot to learn with this game and Fdev isn't great about explaining alot of it. Your heatsinks, although it may look like you are down on heatsinks the first number denotes that one is loaded and ready to go, the other number is how many you have in storage. As to your fuel level, I would never go anywhere without a fuel scoop... means getting close to the star, but if you go throttle up and skim just above the circle around the star you can fill up pretty quick and not get too hot, saves having to land and refuel. Donating to the cause, raises your reputation with that particular faction, and might help with getting higher paying missions for a time, but reputation gains are temporary, so unless you are based out of that station it isn't worth it. As for the galactic powers, that is for powerplay, the way it works is you pledge alliegance to one of them after a few weeks, move some materials from their home base and gain merits, once you have enough merits it unlocks the purchase of a special weapon or ship capability. Probably shouldn't bother with powerplay if you are just starting out... you need good ships first with a decent cargo capacity and a bit of extra money. I have been playing this game for a few years and have only bothered to pledge to a few of them, for prismatic shields and hell hound missiles. If one of the factions or system security is upset with you, maybe check to see if you have any bounties, if you inadvertently shoot someone, you can get a bounty on you... you can pay these fines and bounties off and all is good again. If you need to make some quick cash, go to a resource extraction site, wait until the security forces start attacking someone with a bounty, scan their ship and join in, even if you only get a few shots in, you get the bounty reward, turn those in the system for cash. The ship dropped out of supercruise and was damaged because you did an emergency drop out, when you go down to a planet you have to be mindful of your speed and approach angle, especially once your altitude gets close to the DRP level on your altitude... don't get that low unless you are on final approach to your landing site. I don't know if you use any third party sites, but they are almost a necessity with this game, Inara is a good resource to find things you are looking for. The most frustrating thing about engineers when you are starting out, is gathering the materials... there are ways to gather those quickly, I would suggest watching videos on materials collection from hawkes gaming, he also has alot of tutorials worth watching. When selecting equipment for your ship, your ship has a slot size available... this is number 1,2,3 etc.the max size you can put in there, you can go smaller but not bigger. Usually bigger is better, unless you are engineering for lighter weight, and thats an advanced topic. The letters designate the grade of the device "A" is better but heavier, more expensive and requires more power, letters go down from there. You usually want "A" rated frameshift drive, power distributor, shields. You can get away with "D" rated sensors to save weight. Beware getting info on engineering from older posts online, the system in game has changed a bit, used to be some randomness to the rolls on whether your engineering made things better or worse, now every roll is an improvement.

Point is this sim is extremely difficult it took me 100 hours to learn how to squash the bugs and survive; no mods if there are any I would not use them. It is just not worth the aggrevation to learn it. The remodders might be a tad upset but no real person is gonna buy this or any game for 100 dollars. There are enuf people who bought it and theres like 10 left who play it online...lol. I play it merely to alleviate bordom; it does not have 1 tree ... get Stationeers ... there are far better more fun games.

Still sad that the dev team for Hellion disbanded and no longer have the rights, cool that there is a community effort to work on it, but you still need a steam key that are no longer available to purchase on steam.

Man, you gotta speed things up! There's alien invasion coming! And you better learn more about the game before running a live, otherwise it's boring. Having played and won several times, here are my tips: go for Russia, don't worry its science is bad in the beginning, you can heal it. Start with Kazakhstan (highest boost in the beginning - you're gonna need a lot of it), then countries surrounding Russia (Belarus, Georgia, etc.), this way you'll have it easier to go in Russia, plus do some public campainging there. When you have at least 2 armies in control, conquer Ukraine (I know it's bad thing, but it's just a game). When you get more control points you can take UAE and Saudi Arabia to get high spoils from them to get money. It's my favourite strategy, and soon enough you can restore Warsaw Pact and unify Germany and later other countries. Joining Germany and Russia makes a strong union. It will take a few years though, but don't worry, this game is loooooong. Invest in small countries in MC and boost in the beginning, but leaving one dot in economy, welfare, knowledge, unity and military, so you get a bonus. In big countries go for healthy economy - invest in welfare (to get low ineqality) and in knowledge (higher education and democracy). Later on you can improve military and economy. Try to get at least several bases on Mars, but also do some mining on the Moon - this way you'll have it easier and faster to colonize Mars. In councilors develop persuasion and administration at first and get as many orgs as you can, especially the ones that give you admin. When you have high admin, you can hostile takeover orgs from other factions.
