They're probably cautious and hesitant to show their playful side til they feel at home which is only natural given how they started out in life. One of the best feelings is seeing how a formerly shy feral kitty is so happy to see you! The more time you spend with them you can see it in their faces and how they run toward you and give you head butts. People who say cats aren't affectionate- I tend to think those people haven't been affectionate toward them.❤❤❤

She needs a lot of rest and good nutrition... I've got a friend with an old cat with 3 legs and she told me that every time she (Bella the kitty) goes to the vet her blood work is great and she has no health issues so a great outcome is possible!😊❤❤❤

You're such a good person to care about these little creatures. I know what you mean about certain rescues. The Evergreen (CO) animal rescue league never had anyone answering their phone or returning calls. When I lived there it was in a condo complex with a dumpster area that had an open ceiling, rafters I guess like an attic, and a feral kitty a resident named Lucy started living there. It led to verbal battles between residents who like me fed her and those who just plain didn't care what happened to her and accused those of us who fed her of attracting rodents. But things were all set for a happy ending, the lady who owns Evergreen Cat Lodge, a super swanky boarding place (I boarded Kiki there when I was looking for a new house) agreed to take her in and try to get her adopted. But long story short, someone there was careless and left a door open, Lucy bolted out and was never seen again. It is a nice residential area so those of us who cared hoped she found a home with someone in the area. But there are so many dangers living outside😢
