We are a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility serving the Okanagan Valley, BC (Canada) since 2021. Visit our website for wildlife related Q&A, to see current featured patients, view how we’re growing our facility, become a member to our society and much more! Our semi-aquatic mammal program includes the rehabilitation of orphaned and nuisance beavers. These animals are part of our collaborative work of wetland restoration with the BC Wildlife Federation.

Orphaned baby beavers grow up - better together!
มุมมอง 3.1K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Orphaned beaver kits are growing up at the aquatic wildlife rehabilitation facility of Interior Wildlife. This is an intro to "Tiny Tom's" & "Baby Nelson's" story. Did you know you can watch them grow up "live" on our channel? To monitor how the beavers are doing without disturbing them, we have installed web-cameras. Our permits don’t allow us to be open to the public, however with "BeaverCam"...
Porcupine tail surgery
มุมมอง 1152 หลายเดือนก่อน
Interior Wildlife is always quilling to help! We have assisted an injured porcupine in need of human care . Usually there are about 30,000 reasons why you should leave a porcupine live it’s prickly, yet fascinating life in peace . Strong claws and arms make porcupines good climbers, enjoying they arboreal lifestyle - usually with the help of their tail for balance . However, this porcupine’s ta...
“Woody & Timber” - two beavers getting busy again
มุมมอง 4112 หลายเดือนก่อน
“Woody” & “Timber”: These two beavers from a beaver colony where their tree cutting activities and damming skills aren’t appreciated were trapped separately. They were more than happy to have found each other again in our temporary beaver holding pen. A few weeks later they were released to re-colonize a restored wetland with historical beaver activity. Now that a beaver dam analog has been bui...
4) Beaver release in BC with “Thor & Edda”
มุมมอง 1975 หลายเดือนก่อน
We can partner with beavers! Habitat changes, stream depth, stream temperature, riparian plant communities, and water quality help tell the critical story of beavers. For more info on wildlife rehabilitation & our beaver program in southern BC, go to: www.interiorwildlife.ca
3) Beavers “Thor & Edda” paired up
มุมมอง 3165 หลายเดือนก่อน
Whilst we were pairing up “Thor & Edda” at our Summerland facility, observing them eventually eat, swim, groom and sleep together, biologist Tom Willms in collaboration with the BCWF was locating a suitable release site in the Nicola Valley. Stay tuned to find out what happens next! For more info go to: interiorwildlife.ca
1) Beavers "Thor & Edda" arrive
มุมมอง 2075 หลายเดือนก่อน
This year’s first two beavers have arrived at Interior Wildlife as part of a conservation project by the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), led by biologist Tom Willms . Local property owners have asked Tom to remove these beavers where their natural activities can’t be tolerated . Now they will be provided temporary housing and care at IWRS until Tom & the BCWF’s Wetland Workforce c...
2) Thoughts about beavers (with “Thor & Edda”)

"In today’s world I ask, does dealing with injured, sick or displaced wildlife have to be black & white? I'm hoping to tell these animals stories - not because I want to glamourize wildlife rehabilitation But to make a positive impact by inspiring professionals and the public how we can work together as a community in keeping wildlife around rather than having them euthanized." Narrated and fil...
Common Merganser Chicks in brooder box with starter pool
มุมมอง 1486 หลายเดือนก่อน
Commonly seen on our lakes and streams these merganser chicks had a hell of a start to life . Female mergansers nest in a natural cavity or woodpecker hole in a live or dead tree, up to 100 feet off the ground and within a 1.5 kms of water . Whilst the mother of these chicks was leading them to water (Okanagan Lake), she was fatally hit by a car and her chicks couldn't get across the highway ba...

“Chewy” & “Chunk’s” story - beaver rehab with a purpose
I subscribe to another Channel in which beavers are being cared for & a pond is being made for them.
@@dianamoore2241 Nice! The beaver kits that are in our care were orphaned and will get released into restored wetlands in the wild. We have to adhere to biosecurity rules for wildlife rehabilitation in BC. A natural pond will be hard to sanitize. That’s why they have an indoor and an outdoor pool filled with unchlorinated irrigation water and changed frequently. They also get enrichment such as leaf-piles, willow and poplar logs as well as horsetail and cattail plants! :-)
❤😍🥰
So Tom is like John Candy and Nelson is like Steve Martin from Planes, Trains and Automobiles😅
@@uttermanbo Haha! Nice analogy. However, they were named after two local biologists supporting us. However, neither Tom the human nor TinyTom the beaver are obese.. and we wish for them to live a long and creative life. The kits are already starting to rub off personalities on each other, thankfully Nelson is getting more laidback..
I learned about this activity through Bieber's LIVE camera. I will continue to support this activity!🦫🦫
Thank you for what you do 💙 and thank you for the live cam! 💙
@@nemrax4303 We’re glad you enjoy watching our videos. A great opportunity to share about the life of beavers with minimal disturbance! Stop by again :)
Love for the algorithm 🦫🌿
Will share your amazing channel. Thank you! 🌿🦫🦫💦
Love and subscribed 💕
Thank you for your dedication to these amazing babies. Hoping that they make a comeback around the 🌎. Fwiw, Holley Muraco's channel is where I've learned about and fallen completely in love with beavers. ❤
@@mortalclown3812 Thank you for watching the beaver kits in our care grow up! They will be released eventually into a local wetland restoration site.
Great video! Loved the voice over. Would love more content.
Thank you 😊 What content were you thinking of?
Bravo, beautiful work. Thank you
Thank you for watching and caring about wildlife!
Oh my goodness. 🥰🤎♥Thank you for your work to save these beautiful creatures
Thanks for watching! 😊
😍😍
Enjoyed the video, thank you.
Thank you
Couldn't really tell what was operated on but I'm still mystified that you appeared to shave the quills? The same beard trimmer I use can be used against porcupine quills? Color me wowed
Porcupine quills are modified hair. We were preparing the surgery site by shaving this animal's rear end around the broken tail to then scrub the bare skin and get a surgically sterile field for amputating (removing) the tail.
Nice habitat enclosure. 👍
Looks like a beaver playing possum to me.
Such a sweet beaver story ❤ Thank you for sharing!
Little guy has a nice hair do! 😂

I love turtles but sadly anyone who would break a turtle is too far gone...
I wish more people would see this. ❤
So many fluffy tails 🦨 ❤
