Super Transit: Direct Injection Intake Carbon at 400,000 Miles
มุมมอง 418วันที่ผ่านมา
This is my 400,000 mile Transit 3.5 Ecoboost engine intake runners/valves from direct injection. This engine has seen high performance tuning since around 230,000 miles eventually leading to Garrett Powermax Turbos and everything else upgraded on the outside of the engine and methanol injection since around 360,000 miles. Without methanol injection it may have had more carbon build up. The turb...
Ballarat, Briggs Cabin, and Cerro Gordo In A Day
มุมมอง 8214 วันที่ผ่านมา
This was an epic day trip that also included Alabama Hills. The road to Briggs Cabin was the best mining road I have been on. In the Jeep Wrangler Sahara with low profile tires and stock suspension it was almost beyond its capability. It dragged on a few locations and not being able to air down the low profile tires made the trip a lot longer and some sections more of a challenge. It was bumpy ...

Looking at this footage, all I had to do after airing down was to back up before the trench began. Instead I tried going forward up the embankment and this ended up causing a lot of trenching to the point that my axle was on the sand and tires were freely spinning.

This will not work on vans with a rear sway bar and possibly not with a rear spare tire under the vehicle. I'm switching to this in order to get the added benefit of increased fluid, more cooling capacity, and lighter weight. A byproduct of this design is that it provides additional support at the bearing caps for more stability of the differential and bearings.

Made me laughed out loud when i saw that big ass rock as if waiting for you as if daring you to enter. But man, what a nice place to go out and explore.
That’s clean af for a DI at that mileage. I call bs unless it has pcv and ccv catch cans
Must not have read the methanol injection part? I've been using it since spring of 2024. Engine is over 400k. Bigger tires means inaccurate speedo/odo. Odo is at 387k. I've been on big tires since 239k. I have the odometer on some of the videos. I hope it is the methanol injection as it will be on in the new motor and hopefully it lasts longer than the 400k motor.
@@chillislivesdefinitely did not, must have glanced somewhere else in the short duration it popped up. Makes sense now
Years ago I hiked from the bottom of the canyon (Box Canyon) to the tower site with Evan Thompson Jr. That was a fun hike. I knew the people who lived where the trailers are now.
what's the part number for this differential cover? what kinda axle?
B&M Differential Covers 41298 This cannot be used on stock Transits. It is the same version for the newer F150 with 9.75 differential. My axle is a modified stock Transit axle.
@@chillislives ok ok looks very similar to a 10.50 sterling axle that are in the f 250
What suspension do have?
A combination of Transit Off-road arms and lift spacers plus Van Compass lift spindles and spring plus custom tie rods, custom rear springs and spacers and shock mounts. B6 all around. 7" front lift, 6" rear lift and 33" tires.
Come out to our lifted van meets off road overland
What are the details? I'm usually working 6 days a week.
Love it❤❤❤
I go out to Beatty once in a while to visit a friend, I'd like to check out this area, can you give me some directions?
Check out Pioneer Rd by Rhyolite.
Interesting area. I’ve only been to Spicer Ranch area and the Camara mine. That van does pretty good on these roads!
There is quite a bit going on out here that doesn't seem to get explored much. I'm not bothered by that!
Beautiful filming and editing guys! This was enjoyable ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love my '24 Tacoma! Thanks for posting!
Hey buddy ! Where’d you get that grille from ? Can’t that a blank grill on the net at all !!!!
Raptor style grill. I did not install the Ford letters.
Where did you get your grille ❓❓❓❓
Raptor style grill. I did not install the Ford letters.
Nice color 🔥
Thank you for a great video! I am planning to make the trek, also solo, from Shoshone to the Geologist's Cabin in Butter Valley (a week or so from now). How was the road from Warm Springs Camp to the Geologist's Cabin? My guess is that if you made it okay in a van that my 4Runner TRD Off Road will be fine.
You should be fine. The road was in great shape but gravel and rock, per usual. From Badwater Road to Warm Springs was a bit rough from a dirt road perspective. If you don't already have a setup for airing down and back up, I'd highly recommend it.
Where is this located?
Southern Nevada
It looks like there might be another pcv valve on the other valve cover too? Same look as the fitting and hose you are replacing
Yes, the other one has the sensor on it on the driver's side of the engine.
Ahh man I'm sorry to see this. This makes me worried because I'm going to have my garret powermaxes installed in December
I'm pushing mine very hard. Almost 30k miles. If you are tuning for big power I'd highly recommend getting a very free flowing intake. If you do not you will generate a lot of pressure on the turbo seals and this will happen. If you are not doing heavy tuning they should work like stock. Or better.
@chillislives I have a roush cai, ams turbo inlet tubes, and a mishimoto intercooler with the piping kit, so it should be pretty free flowing. My goal is to get to 500whp , I'm using 5 star tuning right now, and they're pretty conservative on their tunes, so when I get the turbos installed I'm going to get a dyno and switch to mpt for the tuning. Hopefully everything goes well.
@@saulgoodman9193probably not going to be an issue. In the Transit there is one aftermarket intake that breathes through a Starbucks straw and no aftermarket larger piping. This has caused pressure issues against the turbo seals until it's too late. You should be fine.
@chillislives Hopefully . And that's unfortunate . You might be able to have a shop fabricate some intake and intercooler piping for your van . I've seen it done on a 2014 f150 . Are you going to replace the Garrett turbos and have your tune turned down ?
@@saulgoodman9193I will be opening up my air box heavily to allow the necessary air in to not cause pressure issues with the turbo and probably change my oil much sooner, especially with how many tuning runs I'm doing.
I did the same thing to my transit. People at the body shops and dealerships. I go to always comment on my blow off valve mod
Very dangerous. Tires that are off road. Have a speed rating. Usually, around 75 to 95 after that's dangerous.
Check your tires and proceed with caution. At some point I'll maybe get a second set of wheels and speed rated tires. Should be easily able to hit 150+ mph. I've already done 145 mph gps verified.
Ypu welcome to come out to our Lifted van meet. November 2 and 3 probably more days. Anza Borrego. Ez sand trails, but Big bear is bad ass!!
I'll check it out. As the weather cools I get busier with work out here in the desert.
Isn't that going to cause premature break down front axle?? Ford transit is impossible to have it uplifted properly. Oh,, is this 2WD? no way ~
2wd. Around 7" suspension lift and 2.5" of tire lift with 33" diameter tires.
any installation video on this
No install video. It is not a direct fit. I bent one of the included brackets to make it work.
I don't know why TH-cam recommended me this video to me so early, but I'm glad I found it.
Sharing this with the og youtube lifted van guy @JohnDrivesAnything
I'll look into it. I'm usually very busy throughout the cold months of the year.
Thought is was weldtech. But new information! Great! How many inches of lift and what tires combo?
I'm around 6-7" of lift with a combination of lift parts from Transitoffroad.com and Van Compass plus some custom parts. Wheels are Method Racing 17x7 with 255/80r17 Wild peaks(33"). 18.5" of ground clearance until the diff.
F15s?
35's, 22's, and the last I think was the FA18E Super Hornet.
Best sight ever!!
Nice wheels too!❤
Love the van bro how is it really off road.
Excellent. I can keep up with my buddy's Tacoma in 4wd as long as he does not use his rear locker.
It's all love for lifted van here. We having a van meet in Anza November. All lifted vans all types. Come out !❤
No brother you unibody chassis is dine for! Those euro vans can't go off road safely. Your gona twist the frame.
You know this isn't like a unibody car, right? Have a look underneath a Transit T150-350 and you can see that there is a ladder frame like a traditional truck built into the body. Very stout.
Thanks for this video. I’m in the market for a Transit low roof, basically the same as yours. I don’t have the $ to do the 4x4 conversion and wanted to see how it handled off road in stock RWD form. Thanks for confirm this van is capable indeed. I would like to take my large family off the beaten path…think Joshua Tree or a snowy drive up Big Bear. Nothing too crazy…just dirt roads and stuff.
As an avid off-roader of two and four wheeled varieties, I couldn't believe how good the stock short wheelbase Transit RWD did off-road. That prompted the heavily customized off-road build it is now, still RWD and yet very capable.
I did an Eaton Truetrac in my 2015. Totally different van. Feels like it can take on anything. Need gears and bigger tires. Is that a 4” lift?
Great. Now I have to go watch all your videos. Fml. 😂 seriously though, that van looks awesome!
I don't take doing videos seriously but you can get a glimpse of some of what has been done. This thing is amazing and a lot of custom work has gone into problem solving shortcomings of the platform. I do plan on getting more extreme off road content when the temps cool back down.
How are your manifolds holding up? Just got mine this week. I was kinda curious about the turbo flange bolt hole going all the way through to the inside of the exhaust port. Never seen a manifold do that and was worried it may leak from there...
No issues since install. Runs exactly like it should, even with heavy off-road jarring/vibration. Unlike stock!
@@chillislives👍 now I'm just waiting on the Full Race coolant lines to get here and I'll be set to go.
Good job, Chills! We got yelled at pretty good for walking into the camp that you showed in the beginning. The mine(s) are pretty cool. Better than I had expected. Glad that you made your way up the hill to see the smaller workings. Those pillars in the main room make a cool view with all the window like openings. I think the fluffy mineral is some type of calcite.
I did a 2" front 3.5 rear lift on my self built 2107 250 3.5 eco Transit & limited dif (mid length- mid height - 8k lbs trip ready) a/w K02 235/75r16 It made such difference with the lift - couldn't be happier! I have since added an ARB Locker & can't wait to put it thru its paces👍
The TrueTrac is pretty good but I wouldn't mind a true locker on the back.
@@chillislives Ya the TT is OK but nothing like the true ARB locker that I installed. Pricey though.
@@chillislives I know for a fact that when I got stuck in the desert last winter in AZ - I would have got out in 10 seconds with a locker rather than the 30 minutes it took me to dig & Max Trac my way out....
@@TerryManitobaMy True Trac feels like it is a locker most of the time. I go around a corner and it feels as if both wheels are spinning. May have been too hard on it.
Swam in that pool back early 80's on a geo field trip. It was clean clear water and house was in good shape still being used.
Looks great , you should make full walk around of your van build , exact suspension and engine mods . This beast is getting interesting. Keep up with videos. 👍
When it's finished I will. A lot of what has been done is already on the channel.
Transit . 👍
You still modifying the transit? I got a 2017 with 3.5
Heavily modded now.
@@chillislives what tuner did you go with?
@@Dookie_burnerHP Tuners is the only one I know that works and Unleashed Tuning.
Thanks buddy I was putting plugs in my 2011 150 and couldn't figure out how to get the PVC off your attention to detail with the camera made it an easy job. Much appreciated
Do you have to put the oil cap on first
No need to do anything with your oil cap.
Wicked shots down the road!
I've rewatched this video so many times. That section of road where I'm videoing to where the pilot crosses the valley and starts the zig zagging is 7 miles.
Got the manifolds and larger turbine exhaust adapters from Full Race yesterday. Shop has started the install. Might get tuned if the shop reports that the turbos are a in good condition.
Unleashed Tuning has done amazing work to mine.
@@chillislives Does unleashed have a tune suitable for both performance and towing? MPT has one listed on its site, so I was going to go that route.
@@jghall00 Unleashed actually tunes your vehicle versus just a canned tune. They can give you what you want.
Once in a lifetime experience there! Freakin' awesome!
Yeah, he was definitely doing both flybyes for you... Awesome!
There's an AWD one
There's no AWD Transit keeping up with mine. I'll get some new footage up soon.
Awesome 😮
Tuning for alcohol injection next week. This is a much older video before the heavy mods began.
