@@wtwb Ended up having to load each section of the map on full zoom and save the page as a HAR and use JC3/harextract to save the images as JPGs.

It's so complicated it made me lose interest. WordPress is way easier.

I’m not 100% sure i understand what you’re asking? It sounds like you want to edit your terms and conditions page, and it’s not visible under pages, which could mean it’s on a second page or something default to a theme our plugin. You said the updates work but it’s not on the public side? I’m assuming you can visit the page on the front end of the site? If so you might have to link it somewhere. Like under appearance > menus. Or under the theme customisation. I’d love to do a video but it’s hard to do for very specific circumstances

I know a few tools but depends what videos you are trying to download.

Thanks for your comment, it sounds like you may be missing a step by not adding it to your xml file aswell. But ultimately if you want an easier way to do it just put this PHP code in index file and change the position name to anything you want, then just write that on your module. <?php // Define the module position you want to load $modulePosition = 'my-position'; // Get all the modules assigned to the position $modules = ModuleHelper::getModules($modulePosition); // Check if there are any modules to render if (!empty($modules)) { // Create a layout object to render the modules $layout = new FileLayout('module'); // Loop through and render each module foreach ($modules as $module) { echo $layout->render(['module' => $module, 'params' => $module->params]); } } else { echo "No modules found in the position: $modulePosition."; } ?> You will need to make sure you have these 2 lines at the top of your file // Import the necessary Joomla classes use Joomla\CMS\Helper\ModuleHelper; use Joomla\CMS\Layout\FileLayout; Also make sure your assignment on the module also is set to all pages or the specific one you want. That is a good question, if the article is attached to a menu item as a single article it will be what ever the alias is set to on that menu item, eg www.yourwebsite.com/{menu item alias} if the article is under a category that is attached to a menu item, it will be that menu items alias, + anything after the id number, so more it less is would appear as: www.yourwebsite.com/{category menu alias}/{article id}-{article alias} The IDs are pretty much global though, so any menu item which is setup as a single article or a category can load a page simply by putting that article id at the end of the url, for instance if your menu item is “how to make a joomla” with id 69, that would be able to be loaded by doing the following: Yourwebsite.com/article/69 Yourwebsite.com/category/69 Or you can extend the end to /69-how-to-make-a-joomla (default) /69-what-ever-slug /69-doesnt-matter-what-you-put-here If you dont want to use the id, just make a menu item as a single article and use it that way. If all else fails you can always access it by going to /index.php/?options=com_content&view=article&id=1

Pages = articles in Joomla, just different naming. If you create an article under content > articles then go to your menu, and create a new one, just select the type single article and then then choose the article you just made. Its can take a bit of time to get use to be overall can be quite straight forward

@@wtwb So, to create a Contact page, it has to be an article? An article to me, is a Post.

@@Sonya_Makepeace Yep, in wordpress the "page" section is a post type of "posts" but ultimately the same thing. In Joomla, articles and posts are the same thing, you create Post types by using Categories within articles, so you could create a category called Blog, and assign articles to that, and then create a menu item called blog with the category blog type. which would create a catalog type page. apart from that most single articles act as independant pages. Its all different naming conventions which do the same thing basically. the next thing you would need to understand is Position structure and modules, I have 2 videos on them on the channel.

It’s the only way i could think to make them the same without getting bloat from too many plugins or theme ad ons. Even if i were to compare sp page builder, vs divi or something, there are just different libraries between them… we wouldn’t know if the performance is bad cause of all the extra stuff rather than the cms itself. YooTheme may be a good builder to test on, as they have versions for both cms

Honestly not much, the platforms are similar to wordpress 5-6, code updates and enhancements but not so much it would break your site. There was a big shift towards speeds, seo and schema markup data. Apart from that its pretty much the same usability wise

@@wtwb I went thru the Joomla 3 Beginners OSTraining videos hosted by Rod Martin but there is no mention of Fields and Field Groups that are in Joomla 5. What are Field Groups etc? Do you know of any videos that explains them. Thanks Philip

Your website may be built different, you may not have permissions to edit, or else something weird is happening. The edit buttons on the page are front end editing, but it’s something that can be turned on and off for users. Might be the case with yours, or else it’s been built in a weird way, or potentially with a site builder. Also you will need to have a front end login form in order to see the buttons. Logging in on the backend won’t make them automatically show up.

Set the login page as your home page in your menu by clicking the little house icon, Then just make every page/menu access set to "registered"

WordPress can also have similar problems. I think the main issue here is more so the developer who builds the site. building a website which is reliant on plugins can always cause issues, and without a strong support network often can lead to delays or issues when updating. WordPress has less of this issue because of the size of the community. Id say useability sometimes customers find Joomla easier, but also on the opposite end they find wordpress easier... it's really just a preference.

@@wtwb Are you familiar with sp pagebuilder? I am entertaining the idea of having a separate section of my website for a ecommerce bookstore with a completely different template from the main site. Is this even possible?

@@markmountjoy3636 Yeah, totally possible, you can use assignment function in templates to assign to specific pages, 1 benefit of Joomla over WP is you can use multiple templates.

@@wtwb I have been using Joomla since 2011 and the biggest problem I have is understanding how to use it. There are so many functions I do not seem to grasp and it makes me feel suicidal trying to understand what is being said to me in tutorials. Getting any help is expensive and the only sane route to any progress is really to learn and know how to do anything on your own. Apparently I ain't that sharp.

@@markmountjoy3636 Well I've been working with Joomla since about 2011 as well, but Ive developed about 150 - 200 + projects using it, so you tend to pick it up overtime. realistically the best way it to find problems, then just figure them out, overtime you understand how it works.

Depends where you want to use it. If it’s for a application or to build a react component I’d likely just build it locally and import the build files into your template, modify your index.php file to include your main js script. if you need to get data you can always use a plugin or extension called Joomla’s com_api or Joomla4api to fetch what you need. Is there any reason you would want to use react on it?

@@wtwb maybe react is faster than joomla to load. It is possible to use joomla only as rest service and call the api on the front end?

@@AndreaMarongiu-j6c Yes that would be possible, but if you want to go down that route why wouldnt you just use strapi or another headless CMS?
