Shmups commentary videos and community shitposting apparently.

Explains why a bunch of the shmup community believes they're actually funny though. I guess the community has merely gone from the typically nerd view of "I must be smart 'somehow' " to "I must be funny 'somehow' " lol
impressive run, this game is tough af but you managed it like it was nothing
Peak gaming!
Damn good watching ther
Its not me its the game, i swear 🤣
Absolutely hilarious 😂, 11 FRAMES OF INPUT LAG!!
layer 5
A layer 5 joke? That's probably the highest I can go.
Great run and commentary man, enjoyed the watch. I would have been too tilted to continue if I died twice in stage 3!
It was close to a reset there, not gonna lie. :)
Yeah you go play mars matrix
Best YT content out there. Wonderful commentary. Much appreciated!
Thanks, Flik, we gotta do that Raizing session with Eaglet some day.
I find it endearing that you're still here, after all these years, playing souky. 😊And perhaps Batrider, one might presume?
I blame Covid, got back to old habits then. I thought I'd do 5-10 videos about the games I care about, get some closure, and finally move on. But now I don't know anymore. Every now and then I think about Batrider but it's a dangerous drug. You playing anything?
It's still a fun "come home from work, rest your mind, and let the muscle memories flow" activity.
@@DMC_stg I just assumed that you play much more actively/deliberately than I usually do, routing, etc, rather than just shooting some shit. :P Focusing on just a couple of games, as well.
@@DMC_stg Still, after all these years, Batrider can have that effect on you? I mean games in general, and even more so television, is a drug for me, but if I only watched a couple of things over and over again then I think it would stop being so exciting. I get the part about closure, and moving on, though. Have myself for MANY years thought about completely switching up my life, but never had the courage. At least I got the courage to start playing more for myself, how I enjoy playing, rather than some preconceived notions about how one should play. So I play more right now than I have since back in those days 15-20 years ago. I just give myself extra lives, make artificial rules and challenges, play training mode and choose different difficulties for different stages, even change the speed of the games in Cheat Engine, to 0.97, or 0.94, or what have you. I just enjoy a bit more relaxed experience, but at the same time more engaging one because it is more custom made for my flow and abilities.
@@aVataR_ehyeh it's more like it's easy to turn a game goal to an everyday routine, and leisure time is limited. Anyway, most modern releases let you do those alterations, so you can do them without the dirty feel of a cheat engine :)
The Deathsmiles one sent my sides into orbit jfc
Amazing run, amazing commentary, amazing game
Thanks, thanks, agreed.
The designer was concerned that people wouldn't play it they he intended it? Yeah, no duh, because the gameplay systems are downright esoteric, lol!
Fair point!
I can confirm on my PCB the slowdown is definitely there
Thanks for the info!
That's a pretty deep look at the situation of the shmup community as a whole. I reckon most any other equally old community of niche, classic interests ends up attaining a similar dynamic with it's members.
Hey, my meme made it there! 3:15 OHHHH HE SAID IT!!

Respectful view on the community, we all have our angles to keep this alive
True. The entire Rolling Gunner SS6 commentary is top-tier STG content btw.
@@DMC_stg I am glad you loved it. I can help with commentary during events if you just ask and I have time
@@BigMaloneGaming A joint Dimahoo commentary would be tempting.
More educating than anything I learned in grade school
I almost lost it when you said "Real interest" lol. Great video.

Me(me)(mememe), I'm just a mere jester. But, also - coin-cidentia oppositorun! If I told you I was a member of the Swedish stgfan, you could probably guess which one! 😄
Undantaget, I presume. :) I fondly remember your debates with Nitrifikation. Stgfan was great!
@@DMC_stg Haha did I get on his nerves or what! But I also idolized him, even if I don't know if that ever came across. I was very immature back then though, so I probably would have gotten on my own nerves these days if I met my younger self. :P But there was a wide range there, from like brandbil and egret iirc correctly that had thousands of comments, whereas our maybe best player was this guy that just once and then posted another very high score in like daioujou without any comment what so ever, whereas I would have made a thousand word post about my score, shit though they were! Although the most prolific overall good player must have been javel, who had relatively high scores in very many games - and also the highest amount of broken controllers from shmup rage. XD
Yeah, Javel was my favorite (so I had to include his Vertigo avatar in the community homage at the end fwiw). He was really good at learning games fast, then posting the score followed by a statement like "this game is now for sale, I will never play it again" or "I have now deleted this rom, I will never play it again". :) J2d was awesome as well, typical northern grumpy guy.
@@DMC_stgHaha ah yeah yeah yeah, Jd2. :)

LOL. This is great stuff. Reminds of the recent thread on the Shmups forum where SCHLAUCHI showed up.
love the video but man does this music hurt my ears.
Yeah, music in compilation videos is always gonna be a divider. I've considered adding an instrumental version, but not sure it's worth the effort... and part of the fun was syncing the dodges with the temporal patterns of the vocals.
@@DMC_stg well, i subbed anyway. I like the content.
LGTMI
Hi , very nice video...got more or less same run as you, my only issue is to get the 2 arms of the boss...most of the time I got one only. Maybe one out of 100 tries, i manage to get the 2. Any additional advice you could share to improve that?
Thanks! I also struggled with the boss more than anything else, very rarely got all parts. I think I needed to get there to see the boss appear around 1:54 to have a chance, and get rid of almost all the blocks by then to have an open field. Other than that I think it is the timing of the first bomb that is most important, so maybe experiment with that. Maybe record a run and look at them side-by-side to compare? Sorry can't be more specific because I struggled there too. glhf.
@@DMC_stg Thx...I think I finally made my way on this. Question: you played on PCE mini with classic Pad or you bought a turbo pad?
@@pops_retrogamer I played with the stock turbografx mini controller, so I guess it's the classic one.

Thanks for bringing the Shikigami dodges and Crimsom rants to my attention. :) I considered Paul first, but the Deathsmiles/Shikigami clips sealed it for Shadowserg.
