Hello! I have a question. My lease is up Jan 6th. Landlord issued a renewal letter on 11/22. But they are asking for a 60 day notice to vacate. I submitted my non renewal letter on 12/09 after we were able to shop around for apartments. Does the 60 days notice from the Landlord to us applies here? I don’t think is fair that we did not have enough time to give a 60 day notice due to their late renewal letter.

So you take a 20 day trip and you can be kicked out of your house? Sounds like BS to me but hey florida things i guess

so if you lose job, don’t pay rent, don’t communicate with landlord, and when the landlord attempts to evict you for non payment of rent, just make up something, say you’re being retaliated against for not paying rent and you can stay at the property rent free?

Nine years ago I moved into a small 10’ x 10 room with only closet and bathroom. There was no lease agreement. Only a verbal agreement to pay the rent monthly. My rent includes all utilities. However, last month the heat went out for my room and 4 others. I live in New York State. And, it’s winter here and have a dog. The landlady did supply a small 8” electric heater. But, it’s not enough to keep me warm…let alone my dog. So, I had to purchase an electric blanket. I told her that she could start getting the rent from me once again once the heat was fixed. I have a question though? Do I have to pay it back? I had save the rent payment, but a few unforeseen expenses have come about since then…and, an emergency. So, I have had to tap into my saved rent and spent it. As, I have said…I’m on SSI, so my income is very limited. Can anyone please answer my question?

You need to consult with a New York attorney. Best wishes.

It varies from state to state, Google your questions, report to local hud, document everything and look for answers, internet has detailed information. Don't let a slumdog land rat stress you and your family.

My home has become inhabitable. The heat has stopped working, there is mold growth in the kitchen cabinets, there's no smoke detector, no ventilation, one door won't close all the way, water drips in the bedroom window when it rains. The worst part is the roaches have taken over the whole front half of our home since it has gotten cold. No matter how much we clean, they are everywhere. We can't even sit in the living room anymore and watch tv without roaches crawling on us. I'm also pretty sure they have formed a colony in the back of our tv.

The landlord has WAY too many rights at the expense of tenants. Terrible.

How do you prove inhabitabilty for health safety. For ins. If you asked in certafied letter for mold remediation specialist, but just a cleaning service was provided & you cannot Live in your unit due to serious health complications. How do you obtain a letter from a health board inspector where do you go to do that what is the protocol for obtaining one?

These are questions that you should consult an attorney about if you believe your rights or obligations are affected. In general, any questions regarding habitability require an expert witness, unless the conditions are facially apparent. Issues like mold and air quality will require an expert. You may have to hire your own expert to do an inspection and create a report.
