Would it be possible for you to send me the raw individual tracks (or make the tracks available for download) including vocal track of any song which you recorded with this mic ? Sorry, I did not keep any vocal recordings with this mic as they got erased in the recording process due to the sheer lack of uselessness in any intricate mix. If you are I terested in an upgrade, I sincerely recommend thr UAD Sphere LX due to it's sound and versatility. Of course, the DLX would give you even more options. The SHURE KSM32 is more of a one trick pony! Can work on guitar cabins, and are great on overheads.

    Singing raw with no processing the order would be.... Vintage 87, TLM -103, 87ai, TLM - 102...In a mix with light compression and proper reverb I am sure it would be this order....Vintage 87, U87ai, TLM-102, TLM - 103. My buddy who is a tenor has a TLM -102 and he sounds amazing all day long on it and he sounds unnatural with the TLM -103. I am a baritone and for spoken word I use my TLM -103 all day long. The high end evens out my voice across the whole mic. I can't describe it. it sounds amazing. For Pop, crooner and soft vocals I use the TLM -103. For Rock or loud vocals like Pearl Jam, Creed or Godsmack (to name a few) I use my AKG C414 XLII because with the 40hz cut my voice is spot on. I hope this can help out a fellow high range Baritone. I watched your separate videos on the TLM-102 , 103...TLM 102 needs a room that is sound treated and the 103 seemed mostly fine out of the box. Of course treated rooms are optimal for any serious studio. The Vintage mic you have is absolutely amazing. The U87ai sounds very "BOXY" to me. I am almost scared to pull the trigger on a 3700 dollar U87ai and might opt to go with a Soyuz FET17 instead at 2/3rds the price. But who am I kidding I love Nuemanns so I am sure I would end up with the U87ai...but like you have commented elsewhere the 3700 dollars is better used elsewhere in a better Compressor, Preamp, audio interface chain.

    • @ZPJ_Studio
      @ZPJ_Studio 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why doesn’t your church buy them both? They aren’t that much of an investment. Then you could have either or. Often times vocalists prefer one over the other. After all, voices are so subjective; one mic might compliment a certain voice more than another, depending on their vocal characteristics. Moreover, it’s hard to know for sure unless you really try them both on a certain voice. Nonetheless, with that being said, I personally would get the SM86 if I was really pressed to make a single choice. I love my SM58 the most though. It’s so much more organic and vintage sounding. plautus here. I own a Rode Nt1, but i find it muddy sounding. I am looking for a natural sounding mic that sounds clear but not sibilant or overly bright. Any recomendations?

      Try the SHURE SM7B or the SM58. They won’t break the bank.

    Get both. Studio gadgets that every Studio needs.

      That’s right! You can never have ‘too much’ gear, only ‘not enough’! You never know when you may need something, so it’s best to have it, and it never asks to eat.

    hi man, a friend gave me this mic and i also have a scarlett 2i2 but i feel like that the vocals are really not intense and whatever i do like speak really close compress or add a software pre amp it always feels like it is not intense and present, i dont know if i just need a reel pre amp or if the mic have a probleme. When i listen to your video i feel like yours is better because mine have less hi freqencies and feel very boxy....

      There is nothing wrong with your mic or setup. It’s the nature of this mic. Not very present. So it’s good for overheads as it tames the harsh nature of cymbals and snares. It’s a good standalone mic for a solo vocal track, but forget putting the track in a mix. The vocals get lost.
