Mine Machines for Hard Rock Mining
There’s a lot of ways to dig through rock. You just saw a few of the machines that are built to move rock. Mining uses all of these machines and more. In this video we’ll explore the machines used in hard rock mining. There are a lot of things that can happen from the rock face to the processing plant.. so let’s get started.
Examples of hard rock mining include: Gold, Copper and most metal mines, diamond mines and uranium mines. Soft rock mines use very different methods and machines. Stay tuned for that video next.

    In the US and other Western countries we already have advanced catalistic technology that neutralizes oil & gas industry's emissions, turning those sources of energy environmentaly friendly so STOP demonizing vital sources of energy. Many products we use everyday come from oil and if we simply abandon that vital source of energy we'll go bankrupt. That's why Toyota won't abandon fossil fuels. Let's capture CO2 and other toxic gases so we can reuse them, It's profitable.

    Fairly well explained and I realize you can't list every detail. But any open pit mine I've worked at always sample the drilled blast hole cuttings since that allows the mines on site lab to test and provide ore / waste percentages in a lot more detail and are much more accurate than the original exploratory drilling can do since those blast holes are spaced a lot tighter and only cover in comparison the short distances of what those blast hole depths are .That lab analysis pinpoints where each of those ore / waste zones are after the blast for the shovel or loader operators. Pit planning and / or geology use a computer program to draw.up those maps, and generally the pit surveyors lay out those zones after each blast with color coded flags on stakes using GPS as a visual location reference for the loading equipment operators. That ore / waste rock ratio wasn't covered or the importance of the waste dumps. Not every load goes to the crusher.

    • @rolandplett
      @rolandplett 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great added detail! The video was intentionally simplified for sure. The whole ore/waste decision making is covered a bit in this video th-cam.com/video/VTg_229h4bk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tdQLZ4TFjEqz03l8 and could definitely use more coverage. I'll think about where I can weave that in, maybe in combination with some of the latest ore sorting tech. Thanks again for your comment.

    how is the crusher and the ball pounder able to crush hard metals like iron? most of that rock looks like stone but if theres iron in there it will not break because of its tensile strenth

    • @rolandplett
      @rolandplett 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! Iron only gets strong after a lot of processing. When it’s in the rock, it’s in raw form and very small pieces inside the rock. The ball mills break apart the rock so the fine iron ore dust can be separated out with magnets or some other type of separation.

      Iron is not as strong in its pure form , steels on the other hand get harder with added carbon let’s say up to 4% wt% . Elements such as chromium and nickel help as well in steel and thus resulting in a strong steel . Of course heat treatment plays the most important role for the microstructure of the steel where you can do tricks for ductility or hardness.

    One important feature of a distillation tower is the reflux which is a liquid extracted from the distillation tower, cooled down externally (air coolers or else) then recycled to the column to provide the cooling effect which allows the various wapors inside the column to cool down and become liquids and extracted as you pointed out.
