July garden tour 2021 | Update on the DIY trellis | Explore my garden with me | sneak peak
I have taken on quite the project in the garage, and am doing a bit of travelling to visit family and friends for the next few weeks so I decided it would be a great time to film an "explore my garden with me" video! I wanted an update on the DIY trellis, and I thought a July garden tour would be so fun both for you guys and also for myself to look back on next year to compare! I've listed as many plants as I could - if there's anything you want to know the name of that isn't already named, let me know in the description box and I'll try my best to find out.
I hope you came enjoy a relaxing garden update 2021, with vegetable garden update, flower garden updates ,cottage garden spaces, and shade gardening! I'm so impressed at how well the DIY trellis is holding up under the weight of the giant bean plants (I'll link the video down below about how to DIY a trellis for climbing plants.
My mini corn field is doing wonderful things, so far there's only one cob of corn per plant but I'm still so happy to just have that considering I've never grown corn before. I have three varieties of potatoes in bags that are getting ready for the harvest and looking lovely. The one butternut squash plant is taking over the entire yard! This all just goes to show with a little research and a little space you can learn how to grow your own food at home - if I can do it, anyone can do it!
And lets not forget about my shade/cottage garden boarder! Most things are looking beautiful and colourful with the exception of my hostas... For some reason this year they decided to stay very small - hopefully next year they will return to their former glory!

A serger is what I need, brother makes some great affordable ones, it will cut the seam and give it a 4 thread overclock professional finish

My favorite method to distressdenim is a cheese grater! I fold the edge and go to town grating. Works great!

How did you hang the finished signs without having screws or nails showing?
If I cant sew can i cut the top off my overalls and just wear a belt to make them pants? I'm really in need of baggy pants and they are super baggy but I dont want to make a mistake and my mom get mad since me and her are kind of low of money rn so we cant buy new clothes yet

WOW i NEEDED this overall waist band elastic fix 🖤 my weight fluctuates and i cannot afford to keep as many clothes or keep replacing clothes as that requires. I didn’t want to run it right on the pants, so i think i will do the casing you did, and make it large enough for my buttonhole adjustable elastic! Thank you for these tips and tricks!

I have some linen overalls similar to yours, and after watching your video I added elastic to mine. I didn't even bother making a casing for the elastic. I just used some soft 3/8" elastic and hand basted it right where the seam is between the top and the bottom. I never liked the no waist look on me because I'm not very curvy, but just that little definition at the waist makes a big difference. Thanks for posting the video!

I believe they were scrap 2x2s, but it was a while ago so I can't say for sure

What stitches did you use for each piece?
I'm not enough of a seamstress to know the names of stitches haha but just a basic straight stitch. I think some kind of zigzag would be strong for sure though!
