Hi is there any way to get the blue prints of this tiny house?
Unfortunately not. It was a creative process
Hi Howard, i love your tiny houses... Ally 🙂
Amazing. You found me, and we crossed paths before. My number is 0637680255. Hopefully we can meet for coffee next I'm in your area.
Hi Ally. I realise now the other comments were visitors to the site. No difference. Look forward to meeting you.
Hi Howard nice meeting you as well, i will send you a message on w/app....🙂
@@howarddunbar4522 Hi Howard just testing hallo ..... Ally 🙂
So glad I discovered your channel. Do you know if any tiny house villages where I can rent one.
I want one of these but I don’t have a land.
Watching this now... In love with Tiny homes
Very nice build
Howard. Great Video. What is the blue zincalume side cladding called and where can I purchase it in Cape Town? You've inspired me to build my own micro tiny house. Thanks. Good work.
Y-Rib from Youngmans
This is really great
Hi were are you based
Stanford, South Africa
i adore all your little houses but it's really hard to watch the video - it shakes so hard it's practically impossible to watch. :(
Hae good work this house is how many metres length and width
3 long, 2.4 wide
Sound was not good, but did I hear you say that you place a COMPOST toilet in this tiny house? I am looking for information on composting toilets in SA.
Yes . Double bucket system with the top bucket acting as a urine separator
Hello... Howard can I get your e-mail address? Mine is vakuverua1990@gmail.com

Howard, I'm currently building a Bowtop Vardo much like yours, here in Northern California. I'm calling her Roma Mk1. Using 5 - 1/"4 Redwood bender board, for the bows. Would like to send you some progress photos.
Sure Robert. I'd be interested to see them.
@@howarddunbar4522 Great to hear back from you today. Your videos and this one in particular has inspired me to build a Bowtop Vardo. Please do let me know, how best to send you photo/video progress updates?
@@robsomerton7390 Hi Robert. I guess WhatsApp would be simplest. My number is South Africa 027 637680255.

Great job love your work thanks for sharing
How do you attach this to the trailer?
very very cool
Howard waar koop jy die trailer en hoeveel min of meer kos dit. Laat weet asb. Marie
Ek is mal oor jou tiny homes. Ek wil graag ook een vir my kry. As my huis verkoop wil ek een laat bou. Howard mag ons in SA die tiny huis vervoer op openbare paaie. Sal jy jou telefoon nr stuur vir my asb. Baie dankie. Marie
Do you make on order? How much please? I desperately want to help a friend that has a job but living in the bush and could lose job any day just bevause if homelessness
This Shepherds hut is about R120,000 with the shower, toilet extension. It would be more cost effective to buy a secondhand caravan for less than half that price . Cheaper still is to rent a shack or backyard Wendy house
Ridiculously expensive! Buy a big secondhand caravan for R50 000!
Could you explain a little more about the walls? You said you used OSB. What thickness did you use? Thank you.
6mm
Do you have any problems with the roof condensation without being insulated? I am curious before I build my own.
Insulated with foam backed material and 50mm isotherm insulation. No condensation
@@howarddunbar4522 Thank you for the reply
Best video. No effing self obsessed travel-blog Focus on the hut steady camera Very nice & captions!!! Thank u for this
the models you showed look very basic in design compared to the many tiny houses out there internationally - do these follow the strict rules implemented here in SA? I really want to build my own tiny house but was told if I want to build a tiny house on a trailer I must go buy a caravan - they were implying that only the shipping container home was acceptable - is this true? I really want something small that I can build myself for my retirement so I don't have to pay an exorbitant rental, and are there places one can buy or rent to put the tiny house on here in JHB? Thanks for sharing
Hi there Howard, may I ask you a question? How practical is it to travel to places with such a house, and can you build them with lighter material to accommodate the vehicle that is towing it? My wife and I are working on a medium term plan to move into something like this permanently
Yes you can to a degree. I am building a 5.4 m one now but canvas covered for lightness. Tin is quite heavy. The one in the video has travelled successfully with a 2.5 litre diesel pick up at about 80km average
Ok great thanks Howard. You mentioned that the houses weight is 1500kg which is not that bad at all, but the trailer is 2.7 tons? How do you compensate that with such a heavy trailer?
Hi Howard, sorry what I mean about the 2.7 ton trailer is that the house itself is light enough to tow at 1500kg, but when you add 2.7 ton trailer then it becomes very heavy. I am just trying to figure out the practical logistics of how I am going to tow something like this one day 🙂 Am I perhaps misunderstanding this weight issue?
@@ryanphillipnel3603 . no the trailer is rated to carry 2.7t. The entire GVM is 1.5t. You can load 1.2t extra.
Marachenka aha thank you, now I understand 😀 So the trailor's capacity for weight carrying is actually much more than what it is currently holding. The fact that the entire rig weighs 1.5 tons is actually quite doable then
Hi we live in Eswatini Swaziland and pay sixty thousand Rand annually for a rented house. Love your concept The most important question is cost We like the idea of the basic shell which we can then complete with local help
I am so obsessed with tiny homes, glad to find a builder in SA. I pray you'll be still alive when I afford one
I agree, hee hee ;D
Omg same, I was kinda worried that they wouldn't exist in SA LOL
@@hershe7310 well here they are sweetheart and I'm sure there are many builders now though I've seen more container homes compared to tiny homes.
@@hershe7310 yoh😭same
Watching this now... Same here dear, my only problem is the insolation. I love Tiny homes ❤️
Hello Howard, I noticed the bows are on the inside of the long braces, is there a specific reason from that the ones I've seen before had them on the outside. Beautiful workmanship congratulations on a fine bow top wagon. I would like to see more or read more about your self composting toilet. Thanks again for sharing
Hi Louis. The bows were laminated and stronger than the beams. The easy way is to install beams first and bend a wet bow over it which is weaker but enough to give the canvas form
Hi Howard this looks amazing! What size was the trailer you built it on? Thanks
How much would something like this cost one?
Between R160K and R200K
Send me details on extraordinarylife.lindo@gmail.com
Please send me details for garden cottage - standard with toilet and kitchenette and desk. The student type option.
It’s lovely. It certainly has much going for it that is lacking in modern production trailers.
Nice...

Hi, Howard. Adriaan from Frankfort in the Free State. What are the maximum dimensions - height/length/width for a tiny house in South Africa please?
Adriaan Bester 4.3 high, 2.5 wide, no length restriction of note.
it was Yew wood that was used to make english long bows, Ash was used, together with oak to make the arrows.

Hi Howard, what was the cost of this custom build and how long did it take you?
About R200K and 4 months
Thanks for the replay! Lovely work and so wonderful to see someone doing tiny houses in SA. Is that all inclusive (of everything you see in the videos), the batteries and everything?
thank you. Yes, its inclusive, plus 100 Watt solar panels and gas hob
Do you have plans for this model? I'm in the US.
Where in South Africa can one stand this unit. Is the cost still relevant toda
