Susan Voelz is an American musician of French Irish Russian German heritage. A vocalist, violinist, and composer. She is a member of the alternative rock band, Poi Dog Pondering. She has also worked with a long list of famous musicians including Alejandro Escovedo, John Mellencamp, British Rock legend Ronnie Lane, Mono of Japan and with producers Steve Albini, Tony Visconti and others.
She has worked on film scores for movie and television soundtracks. She has continued with her own solo career, she has released three albums, which have received positive reviews. As a writer, she has published a book with Billboard/Random House in 2007; The Musicians Guide to the Road.
Her new record, The Way Light Shines in Darkness is to be released in the fall of 2020.

It was a steamy night in Austin Texas....the tape rolling through the Tascam Cassette Recorder began to melt giving the violins and guitars a nice warbley sound...it was the unexpected beginning of a 20 year project...which became this record.
