FreeThinking Ministries features the work of Apologist and Theologian Tim Stratton [M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University (2014) Ph.D Systematic Theology from North-West University (2020)] as well as Josh Klein [MDiv from Sioux Falls Seminary (2016)] with the goal of equipping believers to apply good theology to everything.
Tim Stratton is a licensed Reasonable Faith chapter director and FreeThinking Ministries is an affiliate of Reasonable Faith with Dr. William Lane Craig. FreeThinking Ministries seeks to equip Christians to engage in rational and intelligent conversations leading to evangelism on the most vital issues regarding the truth of the Christian faith and culture today.
Along with refutations of atheism and naturalism, FreeThinking ministries also addresses determinism, human liberty, and God's sovereignty, often inviting good faith debates from people across the theological spectrum to explore the truth of God's word and the nature of divine sovereignty.

Abortion is theological, like in Numbers 5, where a husband who suspects his wife of adultery can bring her to a priest to abort the baby conceived in adultery.
LOL! Gonna share this one.
See, this is how I see it. God gave me free will. And God is all good. God can not blame me for using my free will to not belive in God. And if I'm wrong, feel free to be passive aggressive about in heaven. And if I'm right neither of us will know.
This is like reverse pascals wager but innefective
@HerveyShmervy More of an Atheist's wager. It suggests that since a kind and loving god would reward good deeds - and that if no gods exist, good deeds would still leave a positive legacy - one should live a good life without religion. Another formulation suggests that a god may reward honest disbelief and punish a dishonest belief in the divine. And that's where I stand. If I live a good, honest life, in disbelief of a God, do I deserve to be punished for that.
Boo. Christus Victor is a far more faithful and reasonable interpretation of the atonement than the Penal Substitution theory.
Thanks for sharing! We have to do it again some time. There are so many new stories to talk about related to policy that affects Christians!
This must be a joke.
"maximal" is infinite. find a new word.
Protestantism is evil and Christianity solved this via Catholic social teaching
Hi Dr TS. Love your book and your work. Agree with you that we shouldn't follow any politician without making conclusions about their base idealogical premises and their goals. They're all imperfect, some more than others, and we are not great either. So deliberate carefully before voting. At least we have a free choice, right? Praying for America and the American people at this crucial time.
Ann Coulter did a lot of research about how Communists were infiltrating through the Democrat Party, all the way back to acceptance by presidents in the 1930s. They reached critical mass with the Neo-Marxists of the 1960s.
Is it accurate that molinism came from molina and wasn't he a Jesuit 500 years ago? If that's so wouldn't this molinism be part of the " counter- reformation" the Jesuit were created to attack? Did God create this middle knowledge marvel like multiverse orare we just to assume this was part of His nature even though it doesn't seem to be found in scripture but rather philosophically based? Is there a created multiverse that can be found in scripture?
This all starts to sound tedious: what God would do, or could do, or might do, blah blah blah.
@FreeThinkingMinistries I am thinking through an objection to Molinism. I believe it is sound, but I'd appreciate your feedback. 1. If God in molinism does not ground the truth of all would-be actions of creatures, then God does not ground the truth of God the Son's would-be creaturely actions. 2. But God the Son, owing to His aseity, does ground the truth of God the Son's would be creaturely actions (negating the consequent in 1 above). 3. Therefore, God does ground the truth of all would-be actions of creatures (negating the antecedent in 1 above). 4. Therefore, determinism is true (as a consequence of 3 above) 5. Therefore, Libertarianism/Indeterminism (E.g. Molinism) is false (as a consequence of 4 above).

Matt is awesome at exposing the absolute ridiculousness of modern-day liberalism.
Matt adheres the "wear accusations of racism as a badge of honor" mentality.
Well, i am not a conservative. But I would set the standard very high for anyone wanting to come here. Even though we dont really need anyone. It is more simple to work with what you have.
He said 'libertarian freedom' more than he breath in and out. Which is not biblical teaching.
It seems weird that your simultaneously claim Denmark is more free and less free (more taxes and high social spending). Why do they get rated for high freedom and shouldn't the USA emulate them?
So glad Calvinist. Which I am not, don’t believe this crap
re: the headache and other analogies that Calvinists give to support their beliefs. I often find that they choose examples that are very "mechanistic" like "molecules", "headaches", etc. This seems to betray the fact that they believe that the world is just a mechanistic cause and effect universe that was set into motion and continues to be moved (deterministically) by God as one would move physical objects or as chemicals and brain impulses move around in the body.
I love immigrants. I just want them to come here legally (and preferably not carrying Fentanyl). How is that, in any way, a racist sentiment? As long as you’re here legally, contribute positively to society, and don’t traffic anything/anyone… welcome to America.
Keyword: Legal.
Wo😮w Logos = Logic
This is great stuff. I will listen more than once. I have kids that have bought into Marxist ideology through Tim Keller, I believe. I’m sure there were other influences. Thank you for the work you’re all doing. The work of French social philosopher Rene Girard has helped me understand “victimism”.
I don't understand this? And personally I think I would be saying "Thank you Jesus!!! You taught me to ask I shall receive. You taught me to knock and the door shall be opened. You are the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE!!
A Japanese general when asked why they didn't make a land offensive. He replied that militaries know where guns are kept...in military armored. But, in America everyone has a gun. It would have been suicide to make a land offensive.
The Mayflower group tried "Socialism" and those who did above and beyond finally tired of pulling the wagon alone as staggard quit pulling. After a year, they realized everyone is not going to automatically do their share and suddenly, all were starving. They moved away from Socialism and prosperity became abundant. Why return to reinventing the wheel our founding members realized doesn't work.
Love you guys
Did you know Obama mandated prisoners "felons" the right to choose their gender/ sex every six months and officers were mandated to comply
Government taking what citizens earn and choosing whom to give it to or how to use it is analogous to a blood transfusion from your right arm to your left arm , and spilling half of it in the process.
Critical knowledge and Wisdom. Thank you
This works better with the volume turned all the way down
Have you all ever read German Ideology? His early writings? Wage, Labour, Capital? I am not a Marxist but before making claims like "Marxism is a religion" I would at least try to pick up a few essays of his.
Is it necessary to blaspheme?
Blaspheme?
I asked our sound editor whether we needed to upgrade our microphones, and he said "only if you are doing live". So that's the drawback of doing it live! Pre-recorded sound can be fixed.
Interesting thought I just had while watching the podcast. Veggie Tales is a Christian show, right? As far as I can remember, particularly during the early years up to the movie that tanked Big Idea, never once was Jesus' name mentioned in any episode. I still don't know if he ever was. Was Phil being deceptive to the whole of the Christian community by omitting Jesus explicitly from his popular work? Was he lying about what Christianity was to audience? No, he made them with a specific vision in mind that was in agreement with what the producers wanted. If Phil is going to call Matt deceptive because he wasn't being explicit about who he was, should Phil be called deceptive for not making Jesus explicit in his Christian TV show?
Satan doesn’t care what color you are. He cares most about discrimination against the Church! Racism is certainly evil in a massive regard. But it is has never been, nor will it ever be, hell’s greatest asset. Hell’s greatest asset has always been its campaign to obfuscate the Gospel.
Desert Rose reminds me of the prophetess Deborah in the book of Judges. Deborah was a Woman Warrior , poet, prophet as well as singer and songwriter. From reading about Deborah in the bible it's plain to see she believed in Leading from the Front.
I don't understand how any reasonable, logical, and loving Christian can hear these truths and their inevitable destructive consequences and still freely, willingly, and intentionally choose to vote for the Democrat platform's policies.
I believe it begins with pride or fear or both.
@Claire5020GEN It's quite possible.
Tim, Fantastic interview. You are among my favorite TH-camr apologists. I respect your intellect and I imagine you learned that there isn't always a 30 second version of an argument, and when respected guests are clearly not comfortable with a question to let it go and let the guest do their thing. Which you pretty much did 😊😊
Also my prayers are with Dr. Baggett. It is deeply disturbing to see such a brilliant man clearly struggling with weight related high blood pressure. We aren't supposed to be that pink!
Biden hasn't been 25th amendmented b/c that was the deal. Joe (and Jill) get to keep riding around on Air Force 1, and cosplaying leaders, and in return Joe dropped out of the race. He was levered out of the race with the threat of the 25th amendment. And really, if you read the 25th you see it is a very convoluted, messy process if the president against whom it is invoked pushes back. It works OK in the case of for example Eisenhower who was debilitated by a heart attack, or a president who for some reason is rendered comatose and who won't push back. It would be a complete cluster-up of a dumpster fire to try it in this case.
The reason to vote for president even if you are in a deep Red or deep Blue state is that it will count toward that candidate winning a POPULAR majority in addition to winning and ELECTORAL COLLEGE majority. If for some reason someone just can't bring themselves to vote for one or another presidential candidate, they still need to vote for the down ballot races, all the way down to city/county officials since they're the ones that really affect our daily lives. Participate in school board elections. Well yes, that's true but you need to keep in mind that school boards are controlled by the school employee unions whose members turn out, and whose members get their family and friends to turn out for the union approved candidates. Since they're usually scheduled for the most off, off, off times (like standalone elections in March) people often aren't even aware they're happening.
How should we respond when Christian culture becomes inhospitable, if not actively hostile, to human suffering? Sadly, many Christians hate humanity to a degree that is destroying our human societies. So when I say nothing illustrates Christian hatred of humanity better than their belief in hell. My statement isn't about "hell" per se because hell doesn't really exist... but the Christian belief in hell. When I say that if hell is real then the number one moral thing that could ever happen is for no births to ever occur again. Or, In fact, abortion would be the second most moral thing one could ever choose because no finite life would ever be worth the risk of eternal suffering. I am not talking about hell or births but the Christain's hypocritcal belief in hell. Because if a Christian truly believes in hell then they wouldn't want to force more births while believing the majority of those ever born will choose eternal torment according to what they believe. Currently there are roughly 6 billion people who will choose hell according to Christian belief...that doesn't count all the people who have died in the past or those that will be born in the future. So why don't Christians' advocate for no births? Why? So please think about how flawed your beliefs are! Stop thinking that you are moral person! Because a moral person wouldn't place the worth of a non-conscious being over the well being of every human on the planet. A moral person wouldn't support the hatred of Trump. If you were truly moral you wouldn't support those that do nothing about climate change or gun violence, or support those that do nothing about America's unsustainable health care costs, or support those that give tax breaks to billionaires at the expense of the poor and middle class, or support those that want to force raped little girls to give birth. So again I ask how should we respond to Christianity's hatred as shown by the real world actions, words and beliefs of Christians?
Thanks for having us on your show!
The guy in armor looks cold! Brrrr! Seriously though, great discussion. The reason I brought up my testimony was to show how Christian organizations like the Gideons (who place Bibles in places where people will find them) are up to serious business, and you would just never get that same kind of value if you send your money to a secular government. Every Christian should enjoy using their earnings to partner with other Christians to do Boss' Kingdom business.
Can you define Marxism?
Marxism was defined in the video, multiple times.
@@FreethinkingMinistries I feel like it was not very well defined though, because there was a lot of talk about "marxism is a religion" and all this stuff I'm asking you to define Marxism
Defining it in the comments is unnecessary... Check the notes. Click on Mere Marxism.. You will find a robust definition there.
Socialism or barbarism 🐈⬛️ No one is teaching college kids to be Marxists, ffs.
Considering Owen works as a tenured professor at the largest state run university in the country and you're a random anonymous account on TH-cam there's definitely a credibility problem and it's not with Owen. 👍😂
@@FreethinkingMinistries I *wish* Marxism was being taught. Keep licking the boot, though 👍 Your imaginary friend will provide, I'm sure.
As the Church which is the Body comprised of all ethnicities created from one blood and washed by one blood: Christ's, I cannot reconcile why there hasn't been an uprising and outrage within the Black church to decry and condemn this antiBiblical and antiChrist ideology of "whiteness." Why have they been silent about exposing this lie? Are we not to love one another? Yes there are some here and there who are speaking out, but in general there is only dead silence regarding this demonic doctrine stemming from critical theory's oppressor/oppressed narrative.
