Looking Outside

Podcast exploring fresh takes on familiar topics. Hosted by futurist & strategist Jo Lepore.
Experimental Philosophy with artist Jonathon Keats
The very best philosophy is equal parts exhilarating and distressing. As one of the most profound pursuits towards greater understanding, through the love of wisdom, philosophy employs logic and demands critical thinking. But at worst it is left in the esoteric world of theory: disconnected from the world we live in. Out of touch. While philosophy is the practice of asking questions, experimental philosopher Jonathon Keats asks questions of it back. On this episode of Looking Outside we explore active, participatory thinking through real world experimentation with philosophical hypotheses and ideas. Jonathon shares how he pursues curiosity by creating tangible artefacts that others can interact with. By "doing" philosophy, Jonathon argues, we can create pathways into rabbit holes and an invitation to deeper exploration.

Great episode
Awesome. Best episodes are the ones outside the box; indeed, the ones that are ‘looking outside’ 😉 this takes the 🎂
First episode over an hour! What did you think? Make sure you check out Jonathon's appearance at the Dubai Future Forum: th-cam.com/video/NgmMuwojvfY/w-d-xo.html
the woke environmental narrative by the left
It is one perspective of a possible future 🙏
Because you are not considering the entire ecology we live in. You are cherry picking one element. You showed windmills made of cement steel and plastic implying that is doing what you are describing but the carbon footprint is bad. Oversimplifying dooms mankind. Don’t go to mars to make it earth like, restore earth instead.
Appreciate your perspective. Over-simplification is the enemy of reality. 🙏
But isn't that the same with the production of EVs? Isn't the cobalt for them mined in Sudan?!
Brilliant recap, thanks Jo😊
Great video wrapping up the current year 😉 Looking forward to the next current year; the outlier topics are my fav
What a great conversation, thanks!
I love Monty's sense of humour. He makes people laugh at simple things of everyday life, words, accents, food, festivities..he doesn't need to swear to be funny. 😅 He has a beautiful smile, too 😅
Facts are not relative. Take your bs elsewhere.
This was said with sarcasm. Please check out the full ep 🙏
@lookingoutside Pardon me. The unfortunate truth is that there is quite lot of craziness going on nowadays. The difference is not always clear.
"Getting people comfortable with the uncomfortable". So true and an essential aspect in futures facilitation. It’s about creating a space where uncertainty sparks curiosity rather than fear.
Stop being such big babies, you’ve ruined humour with all this lefty propaganda
Clever girl
Tom's "Brand Camp" books are great as well! I love how Tom always gets to the absurdness of marketing and branding without being disrespectful. Helps teach us lessons.
Monty Franklin is awesome. I attended two of his shows in Melbourne, both were fab!
Very interesting conversation conversation, thank you Jo
I eat her product, it’s good 😋
Life is pain and suffering sometimes, men know this and the world keeps on turning ,women always want to stop the world because they feel some discomfort and we all lose forward momentum, who can protect us from these self appointed saviors of the ugly status quoa that they find to be icky
I'd think that social cohesion isn't actually more fractured, it's just easier to tell or see the fractures.
1 degree over 100 years did I hear that right
Typical mouth that demands change, While comfortably sitting at home with all the same exact energy needs as every one else, But somehow is an "expert" on what she expects from others! Yea Ok lady, You first, I'll be right behind your lead, which means nothing, because you ain't going to change, And neither will I !
🧐
Great topic well explained. Thank you Jo
Thank you for the feedback!
Some great diversity in guests and topics in this channel. Every time I visit there is something different 👍
Yup pretty cool!
Thanks for your support!
Great conversation
Then they take it to the extreme and hold someone for 14 hours saying they have proof they did it and they deny it till they confess just to get out of the torture they are being put under.
GaEEEEEEE! YOURE GAEEEE
Wow pretty cool you were able to get Greg Kading
Thanks I needed to know this
Brilliant ❤
Thank you so much for having me! It was such a pleasure ❤
Loved having you on!
Excellent examples I love this podcast
Hi, loved the interview! What is the name of the economics book that you mention? thanks
Thank you! Economix: How our economy works
Great conversation
Yea…an idiot detective hahah…good one
Humans are the only creatures on this planet who's existence has no symbiotic relationship with the health of the planet or the other creatures on it. So whatever improvement you're talking about is from a human perspective which justifies destroying the environment to accommodate their needs.
Fair point, but you have you to start somewhere.
Excellent guest and a good job of covering many high points for a complicated subject, such an exciting emerging world.
Thank you!
