Vash really never applies the generosity he gives others to himself. At the end he says „even if a mistake is made, as long as a person realizes their mistake it is possible to make it right again“. That belief is one reason why he saves all these people. He wants to give them the opportunity to change for the better. Give them a second chance. But he doesn’t apply it to himself. He is willing to trust a murderer, thief or whoever but as soon as he killed one person he thinks he unredeemable. In his book only other people get second chances, not him. Good thing that Meryl managed to get through his thick skull and make him belief in his own worth again

That outfit Vash wears underneath is definitely a fan-favourite. You should see the manga-version of it, it’s even more amazing

it´s been a while since you watched this show but I still gonna answer that question at 20: 35 In the manga you can actually see Vash and Knives walking around for 80 years together. Despite their differences. Vash clearly wasn’t very happy during that time but Knives was all he had known so he stuck with him until he finally decided that enough is enough and they separated.

Great to see Roberta make her first appearance. I suspect the reason Revy was so nasty to Garcia this episode is because it is easier for her to cope with what she is doing if she doesn't allow herself to get attached. Notice it is a pattern of Revy's to act really nasty towards someone if they make her feel emotionally vulnerable (Rock, for instance, and Benny too according to an earlier episode).

This is still one of my favorite episodes in the series. It really marks a turning point for Rock's character and his relationship with Revy. Nothing to really add but that the ship with the dead bodies at the start was the Neo Nazi ship from the previous episode. The boat is still floating there with their corpses.

This is pretty late since you have finished the series but, in regards to the characters' races: Revy= Half-White, Half-Chinese (Born in the ghettos of NY) Dutch= African-American (Said to have served in the Vietnam War) Benny= Jewish-American (Mentioned to be from Florida, his name is short for Benjamin) Rock= Japanese (Born in Japan) Balalaika= Russian (Her backstory comes later)

Once again, a great reaction. One of the few reactors willing to see things from both Rock and Revy's perspectives. Even if you agreed more with Revy, you were willing to understand why and where Rock was coming from. So many reactors are quick to take a side and either label Revy a "psycho bitch" or Rock "a pussy." I think there is some thought provoking conversations to be had about their worldviews (like, this is some very philosophical stuff) and I think it all comes to a head beautifully in episode 7. This series is a rollercoaster, and I look forward to watching more of your reactions to it!

This is a pretty great reaction. I love how much attention you pay to the series and your ability to see nuance. You are the first person to genuinely consider how awful it would be to die slowly from oxygen deprivation in a sunken submarine. Everyone else just saw that they were German soldiers and cheered at their deaths. The thing is, most regular German soldiers weren't aware of the atrocities the SS were doing like the Holocaust, especially naval soldiers who hadn't been to land in years. This schism is really shown when the submarine captain calls out this SS soldier as being disgusting and laments having to die with him. Another interesting thing pointed out by the sub captain is how people like the SS soldier look at all the death and suffering they have caused and only think of planning the next war, turning a blind eye to their crimes. Wouldn't you know it, later in the episode, the Neo-Nazis arrive and prove him right. These Neo-Nazis took the baton from the SS and ran with it. This shows the dangerous power of destructive ideology and how it can continue to live on, driving people who are already self-centered to become worse. It also shows the cycle of violence. The Nazis are dead but Neo-Nazis have sprung up to replace them. The violence just continues. Sometimes this show seems like a mindless action-fest but there are some actually thought provoking things it presents.

This was a fun episode even if a lot didn't happen. It was mostly just an episode to set up how the characters act and how things usually go in Roanapor. The real story starts next episode. Fun Fact: In the manga, Revy was listening to "Electric Head Part 1 (The Agony)" by White Zombie and "Shooter" by Rednex while fighting the boats. But, because of copyright, different songs were used in the anime.

Shame about what happened to the first episode but I loved getting to see this. Not too many people react to this series and it is one of my most favorite animes of all times. You compare Rock to Light and they certainly have that crazy schemer thing going on but I honestly think I might prefer Rock. I think it is because Rock is a bit more grounded in reality and has a little more going for him than "God-complex." I still really like Light though. Seeing as you finished the anime, I expect you must have really enjoyed it. Can't wait to binge your reactions! Also, fun fact: Revy's voice actress voices in Barbie movies, Bratz movies, and My Little Pony. It's just funny to me because this is so different from what she usually does. Despite that, she still knocks it out of the park!

I love how this series has these reveals of being CIA and specifically it is very smart with how it talks about the different intellgience agencies and their relationship to the underworld, its very interesting

Just discovering this anime and as a historian I love how this series explores dark exampels and concepts in history. Especially Bellalaika the soviet union empowered women in many positions including ESPECIALLY scientists and also military so I love the strong women in this series and that connection to post-soviet collapse

Takenaka is based on a member of the Japanese Red Army (JRA), a Japanese communist terrorist group active from 1971 - 2001, who had close ties with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which Ibrahim belongs to. The JRA has their roots in the Red Army Faction in Japan, a revolutionary group who wanted to overthrow the government, and even declared war on the state. The Red Army Faction operated from 1968-1971 commits various criminal and terrorist acts to fund their revolution, but ultimately failed. The Red Army Faction split in two, and the Japanese Red Army was one of the two groups that emerged. Consisting of about 40 members, they were leg by a woman Fusako Shigenobu (she is still alive btw, 78 years old) where that travelled to the Middle East, and later across the world, committing acts to lead their worldwide revolution. Takenaka seems to be based on Kōzō Okamoto, a member of the JRA, and responsible for the Lod Airport massacre, which left 26 dead and 80 injured in Tal Aviv. The massacre was part of joint operations between the JRA and PFLP, where they would do operations for each other to reduce suspicion. Kōzō Okamoto was wounded and arrested during it, he was put on trial where he pleaded guilty and got a life sentence, his final statement in the trial being "when I was a child, I was told that when people died, they became stars...We three Red Army soldiers wanted to become Orion when we died." The three red army soldiers refer to himself and the two who carried out the attack and died. Despite his life sentence, he only served 13 years before being released in a deal, the Jibril Agreement, as part of a greater prisoner exchange. Okamoto is still alive today, living in Lebanon. After his release he reunited with several JRA members, but five of them, including Okamoto, were later arrested for passport fraud in Lebanon and served three years in jail. After their jail time, the other four were deported, but Okamoto was granted sanctuary in Lebanon for his past actions against Israel, and he lives there today, 76 years old. He can't return to Japan, much like Takenaka, due to still being wanted for terrorist actions as part of the Red Army Faction. The similarities between Takenaka and Rock, as they're both Japanese men who broke from their home countries and can't go back home, but why is different. Takenaka is a literal terrorist, and if he went back, he would probably be locked up for life, or get the death penalty. Even if he wasn't locked up, Takenaka can't go back because his communist beliefs are incompatible with the capitalist Japan, he could never go have a normal life at this point. For Rock, there is nothing legally stopping him from going back, but he could never stay there, when Lagoon company kidnaped him, it was like he woke up from a dream he can never go back to. Both men woke from a dream, the Japanese ideal, and now that they're awake they can't deny who they really are. For Takenaka its being a communist revolutionary, and for Rock, he's a free criminal, who despite is idealism only has allegiance to his crew.

Maybe you could re-watch episode 13, just the last part. Many people missed that Sukuna was surprised about something and it was Choso failing the hit. In the manga was very clear that Sukuna was surprised but in the anime they decided to show Sukuna as a shadow, which lead to confusion bc people couldn't see his face. Then there was this theory about Yuji's CT, but he never had curse energy so he doesn't have a curse technique and that was stated in season 1, the curse energy that he has is from Sukuna. Last, Yuji was just a "normi" with awful strength which was really weird to everyone. But if you still have doubts, well, 3rd season has the answers, you just need to wait ;D

Well think about it we don't know who Yuji parents are or his family history he had inhuman strengths even before becoming a sorcerer and he easily became a vessel for Sukuna even though tye average human would die so i doubt all that isn't a just dumb luck

Going from Stampede to this, it really threw me how rude Vash is in this one, I think Stampede Vash would be appalled if he heard some of the stuff OG Vash says. I really didn’t like it at first, I almost stopped watching it but my sister insisted I would come to love him just as much in this one. And I did. By like ep 4 or 5 I absolutely loved him. The rudeness is honestly so funny, and it hits especially different when you know all the things he’s covering up with humor. I now simp for both versions of Vash and I won’t apologize for it 😂

FINALLY!!! I’ve been looking for a reaction to the English version of Stampede forever and I almost gave up, and I never even bothered looking for a reaction to the original bc I thought there was no way I’d find it. IM SO HAPPY BLESS YOU I watched Stampede first and then the OG, so I’m excited to see what someone’s reaction to the OG will be without knowing anything going in, and how that will affect your reaction of Stampede. In my opinion Stampede is a masterclass in how to nail a reboot. For everything the OG does better, the new one also has something that *it* does better. Stampede isn’t a replacement or a simple rehash, it’s exploring different things just using most of the same ingredients, exactly as a reboot should be.
