I have a 1992 7.3 nonturbo 108k miles and i bumped the 5/32nds allen fuel screw 1 flat advance and a misfire occurred and is still present even with putting the screw back to original spot
How did you combat the misfire
Already put a new shifter bushing kit with no luck
Any advice for a bent reverse fork (I assume). Can’t find anyone who’ll rebuild these trans. It’ll pop out under the slightest load with all other gears shifting good
Wouldn't know without driving the truck and pulling the transmission apart. Go to a local transmission specialist and get their opinion. More than likely the transmission has an internal issue that is going to require a rebuild/replace...
Never did say what brand or a part number for these bushings man, I see yellow box so moog ?
Great video, never had a chevy 350 so never knew about that tool !!!
Minute 12:58 reminds me of those moments in the CANTINA. Good times.
Can i use 10w-30 conventional?
You can. Almost any oil will work, with cold temp's thin oils work better
Glad I watched this now I know I do not want to try this , think I’ll try letting some atf soak in the system overnight first
Project farm had a good video or two on the lubricity of a variety of different diesel additives. I would try adding some of them. I looked into it - apparently there are few(er) to no detergents in most ATF(s) (at least that is what I read on a couple different company sites, definitely check me on that though...) Adding the stuff sure can't hurt - it burns really well and helps with lubricity. Apparently modern gasoline engine oils have a million detergents - just not sure if they're right for cleaning deposits and shit out of a diesel fuel system. Not sure what additive would be best for cleaning the pump out - something to loosen the varnish from the surfaces inside the pump is pretty critical. Have to worry about the plastic and rubber bits inside the pump disintegrating, especially the inlet filter housing and the governor weight basket damper. Godspeed. Its warm out there this december...
Did it grind if you shift 2-3 at high RPM, or low RPM, or both? I have a weird issue with '21 where 2-3 will clack/crunch if I shift it quickly, even if I'm not forcing it, unless I use just the right touch with it. I can shift any other gear into 3rd, or from neutral to third, at any RPM and get a clean shift. But if I coast at 25 mph with the clutch pushed to the floor and go 2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3, it clacks into 3rd each time. I would expect a bad synchro to grind at high RPM, not just casually driving around town, but it actually shifts fine at high RPM. It's like the blocking action is too weak during a 2-3 shift and it isn't holding the shifter out of the gate long enough. I can avoid grinding by shifting with just fingertip pressure, but this seems to require too much finesse for just that one gear. Second gear simply holds me out until it's ready to drop in.
Replied to your reply above - hopefully I dont say the same thing twice... Weird that it's only a third gear problem. I would think that gear clacking is related to the tolerances allowed between each part of the gear train component. I would also guess that if force isn't being dissipated in the transmission (RPMs lowering as one upshifts), the componentry isn't centripetally forced to align (this is the neutral, clutch in condition where the gear train is stationary?). Perhaps these two factors multiply -> three times as many rings = three times as much tolerance added to a slight misalignment amongst the rings could cause a slight crunch as the slider forces them into line with the gear. So, a faulty synchronizer isn't out of the question. Another thing - by only applying fingertip pressure, you're probably allowing the gears time to align by slightly forcing them together. This acts to "center" them before trying to force the slider over the rings onto the gear. Normally they have a few hundredths tolerance off the gear cone clutching surface - they float and have to align as the slider is forced toward the gear. My transmission is rebuilt but still 'clacks' into first, second and third. Generally, three distinct notches in the shifter during each shift going 1 - 2 - 3. They fight on downshift and are slow when trying to get up to speed, though less so when warm. So long as it doesn't grind and holds in gear, I am ignoring any more transmission - related bullshit in my car. Too much time and money spent, chuckle chuckle! Unless the gear is grinding or the transmission is hard to shift, I would think the synchro is working well enough to prevent damage. These are just my thoughts - would definitely talk to a Japanese transmission specialist or national transmission rebuilder for info on the matter. Best of luck out there. It's been a warm december...
I love my 93 with a 7.3. I've got 432 k miles on it and have never been in the engine. I work it hard but take good care of it Tim from Kentwood la
Good to hear! Good to see old iron still on the roads. Is yours a factory turbo model? Does this trans have a oil pump or is it splash oiled?
@@Bruno-sy3zv hello very much. unfortunately it doesnt… i am thinking of installing an auxiliary pump with lines routed to the radiator. That way the transmission can operate at somewhat regulated temperature. The lack of a cooler was a fatal flaw for the zf6 installed in duramax trucks. They overheated with loads behind them. Silly… Anyhow idk how much towing or crawling you do. An external cooler is useful though. Thansk.

@@christophergriffin8344 hello very much - I went to my local dealer and talked for a bit with the service department. They shunted me to the service manager - he was kind enough to print the manual out for me based on the VIN. i offered him a $20 bill but he refused. My condolences you have to embark on this journey… i priced things out, it was 1100 for the rebuild kit, 2500 for a used tranny and 4000 plus for a new toyota unit. Not cheap… whose synchronizers are you using? If you get them from toyota they’re a bit more expensive but they’re best quality. Anyhow pardon the sperg. I think i uploaded 6 videos in total - but i lost the footage for restacking the first part of the countershaft. Best of luck. Thansk.
Hello, I’m just wondering if you have a part number or anything on the wave washer for this pump or do I just buy “stanadyne wave washer”?
@@michaelc843 hello very much - I possess no part number for the wavy washer. I recommend calling your local stanadyne dealer with the pump part number and asking for a wavy washer. You may have to internet search for your local stanadyne dealer. International service centers will also know, as many of their older engines used stanadyne pumps. Thansk.
@@ramblerclassicman221thank you for the reply I’ll call them with the pump number and see what they say. Also if I pull my pump and rebuild it myself what’s the worry about timing I can’t find much information on it. Pulling the pump apart will that mess up my timing of the pump?

Engine oil is about 10% more energy dense than diesel fuel IIRC. As a long chain hydrocarbon, if injected into the cylinder atomized engine oil burns just as well as diesel fuel. Modern tanker ships are run on heavier fuels than diesel and achieve great fuel economy. It also helps to increase the lubricity of the fuel as modern diesel uses dimer acid(s) to increase lubricity instead of sulphur. To get rid of water: Freeze the oil-water combo, then pour the oil off while the water is still frozen. That will separate out the water. Chemists will have to think on how to deal with oil coolant milkshake emulsion…
