Hello folks! In today's video, I cover things to look out for when buying a bike, whether it's second hand or brand new. A bike that seems okay on the outside may not always be as good as it seems, so it's important to check for these things to ensure your bike rides properly. @@chrichabikes8892 That is interesting. I was drawn to the forks by the tight front clearances between wheel and frame, and the miles of clearance between rear wheel and seat tube. This an occur when a 700c racing fork is used on a frame that was built for 630mm wheels and room for mudguards. Anyway, if the bike is nice to ride and without toe overlap problems, then win win. Evening The reference to sponsorship is what I say to anyone I meet, even at a bus stop. Know anyone who wants to sponsor a bike race. I have dedicated the last 8 years trying to resurrect the Essex Trophy bike race. I did have the privilege of organising last years Bourne CiCLE Festival. Where are you based? I live in Harold hill ,but I have a barber shop in hornchurch , grew up living opposite the ROM skate park,so my roots are BMX .a few years ago I fixed up a BMX for one of my son's friends,got such a buzz out of it that I decided to start fixing old knackered bikes and giving them away ,love every minute of it .my dad was a panel beater and mechanic ,he taught me basic mechanics and spraying so I could do my own car .I have a basic understanding of simple mechanics which led me to the bike fixing .I've now given away 240 bikes in the last six years .many people who's hair I cut in Emerson park have been very generous and given me some lovely bikes over the years yours being one of them ,I'm not a very keen cyclist but love building them ,I do cycle every day but it's only because I can't afford to run a car these days .fixing the bikes has led me to a appreciation of racers and the way they're built ,I also have a Holdsworth monsoon 1952 and several old Claude butler's but nothing of the calibre of your bikes ,the TH-cam channel is to try to help me pay for the bikes I give away as it's getting a lot more expensive to do them ,bikes like your are my passion .when people say "they don't build em like they used to" I hope you realise its people like you there talking about 😀I will put word out that your looking for sponsorship ,I know one person quite high up at Evans cycles but you've probably tried them haven't you ?

      I closed the shop in 1983 after two other shops opened in the same street, and there was only enough trade for one. I guess the real problem was that I wanted to have a shop full of club men and youngsters - who never spent any money, combined with building a brand - but not enough money. I did not want to sell Colnago bikes I wanted to make them as good with all the engraving etc. We also ran a race service car . I was better at organising bike races, namely the Essex Trophy - if you know any possible sponsor let me know! I will try to find some photos, Brian

    Your telling the public to purchase inner tubes instead of puncher repair kits, which I find is very wasteful and un ecofriendly+ is it wrong to stub cigarettes out on your bike and make it cry.😷

    • @chrichabikes8892
      @chrichabikes8892 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only use inner tubes on the bikes I ride as they are normally up at 90-120 psi ,don't trust repairs at that pressure .I run a charity , ok take in old bikes people don't want anymore so do them up and give them away ,if they are too knackered I strip them for spares including inner tubes .as I give them away I have to keep the cost down .I've given away 170 bikes to date ,6 in the last two weeks so as far as being eco friendly ,I think I'm doing my bit .I don't drive either
