I mean if he is THAT old, she literally lites with a 300 old man lol 😮 By the way the whole "scared water" thing reminded me of "Michael's Secret Stuff" in Space Jam lol 😁 And no spoilers but yes, a new saga is coming soon, with a new character!

Meanwhile, poor Upa is all alone down there 😢 But there was a theory that for example Death Note wouldn't affect Master Roshi since he is so old an basically immortal. Which makes me think, maybe it would be a funny crossover considering how different these two stories are 😂

mercenary tao will definitely give master roshi a run for his money, but master roshi ain't no chump. We have seen, the destructive power of master roshi's Kamehameha. it is surely not to be underestimated!

Funny thing is that Goku used his hand to tell the gender difference for everyone but he used his foot just for Chichi

My God this episode was my first cartoon trauma!!! 😢 (and I say cartoon on purpose, because I had no idea what is "anime" - Dragon Ball was a "cartoon" everyone watched because it was on TV! Hahah I can't imagine it being on TV *uncensored* nowadays...) However, I'm looking forward to see dynamics between Goku and Upa again in the following episodes! It is amazing how this show had incredibly cute and emotional moments, and then we had like, scenes with General Blue and all. 😂

I like how in the original Dragon Ball, whenever there is a person who can't be affected by bullets, people just keep shooting hahaah 😅 Upa and his father are such great characters, I love them both! This is what I really like about kid Goku, he just met them and instantly helps them/befriends them. Like, he can do the good and right thing even though he doesn't have much of an education 👍 Great channel and thanks for covering these, so much nostalgia! I guess I should re-watch the whole thing at some point...

Basically these new characters are from Toriyama’s previous work “Dr Slump”. It’s a more obscured 4th wall breaking gag comedy

7:49 I think that this dialogue is censored in the dub, because as much as I know, in the original Japanese, General Blue says "He is my type" about the boy, and asks him to go out with him...? Which is even weirder because he casually beat up Krillin and tried to smash Goku with a rock (!?) - guess they weren't his type?? Anyways, a pretty weird scene 😮 The scene is not in the manga by the way (I get the sense they were trying to show how creepy General Blue really is with this scene), though most of the scenes from this episode are indeed from the manga. 😁 As much as I remember I was confused by this episode since the whole group of characters appears out of nowhere, and they have no clue what is going on, and then we never see them again. 😂 As a nerd I am, I later realised the whole episode is a Dr. Slump reference (another work of Akira Toriyama), which is pretty cool. I never checked it out, though 😅 In the original manga, there are some more Dr. Slump references (for example, at some point Mai makes a reference to the said manga, and Emperor Pilaf says something about Dr. Slump being bad humor). Also now that I am an adult, I am kind of bothered by how everyone refers to the Dragon Radar as "a work of a genius", but whenever the said genius is on screen there is so much fan serving 😒 However, I guess that as a girl I am reading too much into it 😶

Oh I was under the impact of all the Yamcha memes from later episodes, but damn Yamcha was a cool and promising character in the first series, I have to admit that I really, totally love the character! 🤩 Aslo I ~ *blushes uncomfortably* ~ have to admit that Yamcha and Bulma are kind of cute here ❤ By the way, what is that girl made of... How the hell did she survived - oh never mind, this is the early DB, she is considered a "good guy" in this story, so plot I guess 😂

And oh, and by the way - sorry for spam, but are you by any chance planing to cover the early DB movies? Like Curse of the Blood Rubbies, Sleeping Princess in the Devil's Castle etc? I know these movies are not perfect, but they are worth watching/mentioning? 😊😊😊

I just LOVE Launch as a character! Too bad the author literally forgot about her... 🥲 Also watching this as a kid, I knew they were all going to make it, but I was scared as f*. Like, Goku can't die! Don't let Roshi, Bulma, Krillin and the Turtle die! (of course, they will be okay, but as a kid it is weird how you worry about them as if they are your real-life friends) Fun fact, Penguin Village is a reference to another work of Akira Toriyama, Dr Slump I think. The girl, Arale is one of the main characters in this manga. 😁

I love how original DB had those scenes that had like, zero impact on the story, but were there only for fun/comic relief 😂 Also, as much as I love DBZ, I have to admit kid Goku was one of the best characters ever. Funny, but also the best friend and the best person ever ❤ I'm surprised how many people actually never saw the original Dragon Ball, this series is pure gold 🥲

I came across a theory that there is a possibility that Launch was a member of Red Ribbon Army before (she has a red ribbon in her hair after all), but wasn't a suitable member - good Launch definitely wouldn't fit the RRA, so that she left it at some point and lived as a criminal - up until she went to Master Roshi's house. Also, it seems that she kind of recognizes the RRA soldier in this episode...? It was never confirmed, but it sure is an interesting theory!

That little rat made me laugh so hard hahah :D And as I said before, the very reason I dislike general Blue: Goku is 12 here. He was ready to shoot him. Sure, he caused you trouble, but still. He is a freaking kid! 9:00 when I was younger, I just thought "Okay, that was kind of a d*ck move from Bulma" (I mean Goku literally saved her from RRA on that island and all), but now I agree that was the right choice. At this point, she is aware that Goku is able to survive this. Her and Krillin, on the other hand - I doubt it.

I'll admit, though the was kind of funny with his "How dare you hit something so pretty", or when he was grossed out by Bulma (must have been a shock for her though haahah), General Blue scared me more than any other chatacter when I was a kid. He was ready to kill, I mean, litterally 3 kids! Later, he left them all tied up in Kame House with a... bomb! Oh, and in some later episodes, he was openly hitting on a young boy saying that he was "his type". It was a filler scene (not in the manga), but still... It was gross! He had many funny moments, but honestly, while he is written great as villain character, I really, really hate this guy's guts. Or, I came to the point where I care far too much about Goku, Bulma and Krillin and dislike the whole Red Ribbon Army for mesing with them ☺️

Honestly, I felt so bad for Bulma in this one... 😢 I mean sure, she has her moments, but damn that was creepy 😱 Plus it feels like the series didn't even let her catch a break after all this. Watching from adult's point of wiev, this Red Ribbon Army seems far worse then when I was a kid...

In the sub Bulma and Krillin call Blue gay when he is repulsed by Bulma's advances. At one point in the fight Krillin calls him a "flaming homo". Og Dragon Ball had no chill

Aside from Eighter’s good deed of hiding the DB and the Mayor adopting him, the rest of this episode is Anime only. Toriyama would later establish that Dr Gero created Eighter, contradicting what the Toei writers made in this episode.
