gotta turn on the volume to 100% whenever I watch your video. pls consider increasing the sound output of your mic.

I've been watching your videos for the last several weeks and you often reference "our" portfolio. Who is "our"? Is there a group of some kind?

Question #44 is down right terrible. A. is a better choice and it means the exact same thing as C. Having questions like that on a test that means so much to people is very discouraging. I hear similar stories from many people who have taken the test... If things are broken, they should be fixed.
I agree.
@johnanewquist thanks for the helpful content. Been watching for a while, and I'm extremely appreciative.
how much has the exam changed this year from the previous version you think? Would your videos still apply? Im looking to sit for my CSP later on this year and am compiling study materials right now. Thanks!
May 2024 was a new change. We are seeing more FOD, LEEDS, Radiation, New Hierarchy of Control, Nanotechnology, more scenario based questions, workplace violence, and substance abuse.
thanks again

What do you recommend to securing cylinders that are being used in a process area and sitting on a scale?

John is there any changes made by BCSP in ASP and CSP exam for 25 research based questions. And what's the passing criteria? Isn't any change occurred?
The CHST was raised to 111/175. The ASP CSP usually follow suit. The 25 research/practice tests are still there.
@@johnanewquist Thank you Sir for guidance. Your video lectures are really helpful and very informative .
@@johnanewquist Means for ASP 99/175 And For CSP it's 105/175. Right Sir!

What is the difference between FMEA and Fishbone?
In incident investigation and risk analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and the Fishbone Diagram (also known as Ishikawa or Cause and Effect Diagram) are both tools used to identify and address the root causes of problems or failures. However, they differ in structure, focus, and application: 1. **FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)**: - **Focus**: FMEA is systematic and structured for identifying potential failure modes within a system, assessing the severity and likelihood of the failures, and understanding the effects of these failures. It is often used to anticipate potential failures before they occur and implement solutions to mitigate risks. - **Process**: It involves listing each component or step of a process, identifying potential failure modes for each component, and then rating the severity, occurrence, and detectability of each failure. The Risk Priority Number (RPN) is calculated by multiplying these three ratings, helping prioritize the failure modes that require the most urgent attention. - **Output**: The output of an FMEA is a detailed analysis with ranked failure modes based on their severity, likelihood of occurrence, and detectability. 2. **Fishbone Diagram**: - **Focus**: The Fishbone Diagram is used to identify, explore, and visually display the many potential causes of a problem or effect, not just the failures. It is often used after a problem has occurred to trace the root cause of the defect. - **Process**: In constructing a Fishbone Diagram, the problem (effect) is placed at the head of the fish, and potential causes are listed along the "bones," which typically categorize causes into major categories such as Methods, Machinery, People, Materials, Measurement, and Environment. - **Output**: The output is a visual representation that looks like a fish skeleton. This diagram helps in brainstorming sessions to identify the various potential causes of a problem, which can then be further investigated. **Key Differences**: - **Purpose**: FMEA is predictive and more quantitative, aiming to prevent future failures by systematically evaluating potential failure points. In contrast, the Fishbone Diagram is more qualitative and diagnostic, used for identifying multiple root causes of a specific problem or quality defect that has already occurred. - **Detail**: FMEA provides a detailed risk assessment for each failure mode, including quantifiable risk priority numbers. The Fishbone Diagram provides a broad overview of all potential causes without prioritization based on risk. - **Usage**: FMEA is more detailed and often used in engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance to improve reliability and safety. Fishbone Diagrams are used in various fields, including business processes and healthcare, for problem-solving and quality improvement. Choosing between FMEA and a Fishbone Diagram depends on the specific needs of the project, whether focusing on prevention or diagnosis, and the level of detail required for the analysis.

John, a few of these confuse me. Wouldn't two hand controls be an administrative control since you are changing the way people work?
In the hierarchy of controls, two-hand controls for a punch press represent an engineering control. These controls are designed to enhance safety by requiring that the operator use both hands to activate the machine, ensuring that their hands are away from the moving parts during operation. Two-hand controls require the operator to engage two buttons simultaneously to activate the machine. This setup is particularly useful for machinery like punch presses, where the risk of hand or finger injuries is significant. The buttons are typically positioned such that the operator must consciously and intentionally use both hands to start the machine, thereby preventing accidental activation or placement of hands near hazardous areas. Two-hand controls are a direct application of engineering controls within the hierarchy of safety measures, providing a physical barrier (or requirement) that prevents exposure to the hazard. This control measure is considered more effective than administrative controls or personal protective equipment (PPE) because it does not rely on behavior or protective gear but instead modifies the way equipment is used to enhance safety inherently.
