Kayak Fishing the Grassy Holston River for BIG Smallmouth Bass
After a slow day on the Holston River, last trip, this one more than made up for it! My first 3 fish were BIG Smallmouth Bass, 17",19" and 16.75" all within 5 casts of each other, from the same spot! Thomas and James both had smallies 16" or bigger. My 19" was my biggest so far this year but there's lots of smallmouth to be caught this Fall!

Our Kayak Fishing on the Holston River, started off with plenty of water, fast current and so much floating grass I could have fed the cattle for the Winter! North Fork Holston - Hot Day on Skinny Water

James Hartsock and I did a short float here on the North Fork Holston, enjoying some Skinny Water action on a Bright Hot Days float! We ended the day with 29 total and some nice 14" to 16" smallmouth Bass. Is it enough weight to keep you stable
It has worked great for me in the rivers I float. If this won't hold, then I've found I shouldn't be anchoring there to start with. I 've used this on this Liska, jackson Big Rig and now my Bonafide RVR119 and PWR 129.

Been fishing warm skinny water for too long this summer. Glad Debbie blew through. It changed the mood here on the Upper Potomac for sure. Hope your fish got some watering too.

@fredrickg5697 no, it was in Virginia.
A haswing brushless 12v will hit over 6 going downstream on a slayer max 12.5. You really need to do speed tests on flat calm lakes with no wind. True speed for a nk180 is like 4.8 to 5 on most kayaks.
I've gotten a steady 6 mph out of my Bonafide PWR 129 going up and down stream on my river and the New river, on the calm stretches of river. it wasn't a one time thing, the way a kayaks bottom is designed determines the speed of the kayak.
Pretty sure I Recently saw you in a Jeff Little video at the Bonafide booth at ICAST. The orange shorts caught my attention.
@MgicRiverRat I was at the Bonafide booth a lot over 2 days, but I'm not sure which video you are talking about. 🤔 I saw and talked to a lot of people about the EXT 130 and the PWR129.
Ok, it goes 6mph but for how long on one battery (I know it varies, just what you use)?
@Peabody-xv2tg the most I've used it was 3+ miles solid travel at 4 mph+ and 6 hrs of, off and on use. I still had over 50% on my 24v 50ah battery.
@@RiverSmallmouthAdventures thank you for the reply. I did find some more info, I was looking at their web site and it said with 50ah battery at full speed it will go 2 miles for a total of 20 minutes and he only showed how fast it could go, not how far. As many people know as you slow the motor down it jumps in range, so at half the speed 3mph it will go 17.2 miles or 5.7 hours. Of course it is an estimate with a "Kayak 12-14 feet" Also he didn't mention it uses a 24 volt battery, not a 12 volt.

It does great in current! I haven't checked the up stream speed as of yet.
@@RiverSmallmouthAdventures does it seem to do pretty well going upstream? I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth spending the extra money on the 300.
I have the same question and am debating between the 180 pro vs 300. I want to be able to go upstream in relatively strong current, but don't like the weight of the 300 and hear that the 180pro has better low speed control with the new throttle mapping. Would love to know how it does going upstream in high water.
