That's just how it works lol. Was like that for me as well. There are beginner-focused tournaments in some regions. Usually they have discords where you can try to find friendlies vs similar skill level players too

They're a puff main trying marth in those games. They're also a fairly new-ish player I think

These days I mostly just play for a few hours on the days ranked is free. When I was starting out I tried to practice at least half an hour each day solo at least just to understand movement stuff.

Yeah I find that gnw horizontal speed does really poorly on Pokemon. Gnw also has basically no vertical kill moves AND dies super early from opponents of the top. PS is just easily his worst stage imo. Even Puffs drill up smash can be a big problem there. As an extra downside sweet spotting gnw up b to ledge is also the hardest on that stage lol. Edit: gnw down tilt (as good as it is) is only a kill move if the opponent is grounded. If the opponent is in the air when hit then it does less damage and hits at a 45 degree angle. This makes it not as useful vs puff who is almost always going to be in the air

@@Jaggernaut yeah thats fair GnW isn't quite fast enough to really be sharking puff very well. I figured. M2 manages to do it with NiL teleports and his djc uairs.

I had to check. They do the same damage (12%) but gnw dtilt has slightly better knockback values than mewtwo up throw. The grounded hitbox is a crazy good move for kills.

Other controllers can work fine. I know one person who got pretty good using an Xbox controller. If you want to play in person ever you'll have to get a gcc though.

your best options depends on your background. If you like using pads for fighting games go with gcc. If you have history of playing traditional fighters on arcade sticks and things like that, you should get a box controller. Be careful though, as "box hate" is quite normalized in the smash community. If you're looking to not really play offline ever though, you have more options as stated from the poster of the video. Xbox controller, SF30pro(i highly recommend), playstation controller, virtually any USB controller you can find.

you have a good few tournament results from 21 22 and 23 so im just confused by the title is all

The day count includes every day I've actually played vs someone. Either on slippi or in person. It doesn't include any days I didn't play or days where I only did solo tech practice.

It's super accessible with slippi now! I've played people who play on Xbox controllers or keyboard who are pretty good

@@Nerdieo SmashBox is a bit more controversial than others because it allows you to set some things that are against tournament rules and would make the controller illegal if used. e.g. some pixel-perfect-analog-stick-position tech that would be impossible to do on a joystick like the Peach ledgedash or the Ice Climbers no-setup desync Other than that the discussion comes and goes but a wide ban seems unlikely.

Down are forward air can be L cancelled. Also for the other moves it's easier to just have the habit of clicking to L cancel
