sea of hands and ghost to the post were 2 of the best playoff games ever. the snake was a big game QB. raiders had great players at almost every position. they had a physical defense and big time game breakers on offense.
I've wondered for years who did the narration on these highlight programs on Sunday mornings in the 70's. I was 13 years old in 1975 when I think CBS began running those highlight spots. The narrators voice and descriptions of the games as he talked about the "warriors battling on the gridiron" and such was really what made me fall in love with the game. Even more than the games themselves.
To this day the greatest, wildest, football game I have ever watched. At any level I was 12 years old sitting in our living room in Isabella, Tennessee. Been a Raider since I started playing at age 7. Unreal love watching the replays of that game still. Especially listening to King radio broadcast while watching the game.
That was a outstanding game but unfortunately the raiders got robbed the following week in Denver when the refs missed Rob Lytles fumble and it would have been a great super bowl the raiders vs cowboys because Denver certainly was no contest 27-10 loss to Dallas
As a young kid, that was the greatest game I'd ever seen and to this day probably still is. There were so many great plays in that game, and so many lead changes. The suspense was almost unbearable, and both teams were giving it all they had. It's a shame someone had to lose. The Raiders were my favorite team back then so I was happy, but I had huge respect for Bert Jones and the Colts.
My favorite Raider, the ghost to the post..Mr. 87... Dave Casper! I'm so glad have been a raider fan since 1968 and sold malts and sodas at the coliseum, while living five blocks away and having true earlier years signed memorabilia.... I saw a lot of these games personally year after year.... Generation Blanda, Lamonica, Stabler and Plunket alumni... John Madden, speaks for himself.. Carr...Hmmmm!
One of the most iconic, classic, eternal catches in the history of football ever. Seeing it in slow motion, even after all these years, gives me euphoric chills, and I wasn't even a Raiders fan. Just a totally clutch and epic catch.
Rest In Peace Mr. Stabler I watched play for raiders on tv in the San quaquin valley watched A lot of raider games they were great. Stabler came through all the time sorry to see him Go GOD BLESS KEN STABLER.
After the game, John Madden said "THIS was our Super Bowl!" Unfortunately for him, one week later, the Steelers knocked the Raiders out of the playoffs, 24-13.
Almost all historians agree the 1970's was the greatest era of the NFL. The level of talent was through the roof. Scoring and passing was 10 times harder due to the lack of rules and it was so physical. Greatest game of all time.
I was ten years old when this game was played. It's without a doubt one of the best NFL Football Games I ever saw and was ever played. Ken Stabler was just unbelievable in this game.
I remember this game and remember being heartbroken when the Raiders completed that final touchdown pass. However, I don't remember Shula wearing a black turtleneck that day. What was he thinking? My dad once wore a black tee-shirt to a Dolphins-Raiders game and almost got thrown out of the owner's box by Bob Griese (years after Griese retired).
The Oakland Raiders, nothing more, nothing less. There was no Raider Nation. And yes, this era was great. Along with the players and coaches and the Oakland Alameda county Colosseum. Great memories!
John Madden was absolutely right when he said that if the 1977 AFC Divisional Playoff Game between Oakland and Baltimore that Oakland won in double-overtime had been the Super Bowl, it would be regarded as the greatest NFL game ever played (not to mention the greatest Super Bowl game ever)!
The day I became a Raiders fan 8yrs. old and the people in the living room where I was watching the game were going through the fucking roof and I knew at that moment I was in for life!
Loved the professional looking uniforms worn by both teams. Too many current (2019) squads ( Bengals Jags Titans Bills Falcons Texans Panthers Redskins Browns Ravens Bucs) have very loud, tacky, tasteless game dress. Who do I talk to?
What are the songs playing in this video?
A perfect pass ✊🏈 I was 14 on this now classic day ❤️
sea of hands and ghost to the post were 2 of the best playoff games ever. the snake was a big game QB. raiders had great players at almost every position. they had a physical defense and big time game breakers on offense.
Funny I saw Raymond Chester in the video for the Colts he would later play for the Raiders and win a Super Bowl with them
And he actually was drafted by the Raiders and played for them before he played for the Colts and then returned.

Hey Don schula and Miami dolphin fans Don't feel bad the raiders made a lot of people cry back then.....
Was the toughest loss of Doin Shula s career, after having gone 32-2 , the previous 2 years, with a perfect season
I was there as a colts fan… I’ll never forget it… Marchibroda blew it when they sat on the ball at the end of regulation…

Patriots were too much "Mr. Nice guy" back then.
i remember thinking the raiders would overtake the Steelers then the cowboys got good then the Steelers
That was a outstanding game but unfortunately the raiders got robbed the following week in Denver when the refs missed Rob Lytles fumble and it would have been a great super bowl the raiders vs cowboys because Denver certainly was no contest 27-10 loss to Dallas
Yep. We were all robbed of getting to see the Raiders versus Cowboys, the two winningest teams for the 1st 20 years of the SB era 1966-1985.
What a kind and good natured man 1:21
Bert Jones has got to be one of the most punished QBs ever.
Stabler's final win in the postseason.
John Madden's RAIDERS were the best TEAM EVER!!!!!
Was that their first AFC championship?
On a potentially very important play for the Colts,Bert Jones overthrew an open Raymond Chester.Might have changed the outcome of the game.

Madden is on the field again. He wants to know if it's real.
I was at that game with my 2 brothers best game I ever seen rip coach madden
RIP John Madden... 12/28/21
This is the greatest game in Raiders history, Rest In Peace Coach Madden
Bert Jones was one of those 1970's flashes of brilliance for a season or two. The surgeries on shoulders & knees just weren't very good back then.
I love watching football. I wish they'd start playing it again

It still pisses me off, cliff branch clearly trapped the ball!!!
losing Jake Scott, in their secondary to injury hurt them that day
They never should have carried fat Madden off the field like they had won something.
So you go thru life judging people by their weight? Idiot!!!
Rest In Peace Mr. Stabler I watched play for raiders on tv in the San quaquin valley watched A lot of raider games they were great. Stabler came through all the time sorry to see him Go GOD BLESS KEN STABLER.

1974 Sea of Hands - Raiders vs. Dolphins
NFL films with the crappy music again.
I wish they find the original NBC broadcast of this timeline classic!

I was 10 as well and remember it well, The Branch 72 yard TD where he fell down and got up and scored will be one play I'll always remember.
@@JayDogTitan-he6wo Yet the ball hit the ground. Had there been instant replay that catch would've been reversed. Nevertheless, it was a great play.
that was a great game. i wish the raiders got passed denver in the next playoff game.
I remember this game and remember being heartbroken when the Raiders completed that final touchdown pass. However, I don't remember Shula wearing a black turtleneck that day. What was he thinking? The Oakland Alameda county Colosseum! No better home field advantage! It will never be duplicated wherever they play!
The Oakland Raiders, nothing more, nothing less. There was no Raider Nation. And yes, this era was great. Along with the players and coaches and the Oakland Alameda county Colosseum. Great memories!
And unfortunately, the Raiders moved to Las Vegas in 2020!!!!

I was in the fourth grade when this game was played! Have been a fan since 71. I'm done now. But the memories will last a life time
Great pass protection stabler had all day. Greatest game at the time
Clarence Davis had the best hands in the history of the NFL that day!
RIP SNAKE.ROLL TIDE
Yeah baby!!!
a great accomplishment to be in the afc (afl) championship game 67,68,69,70, 73,74,75,76,77. and the immaculate reception stopped 72.
Your correct they were a great team with lots of second place finishes
That's 9 championship games in 11 years
Also 1980 and 1983
Loved the professional looking uniforms worn by both teams. Too many current (2019) squads ( Bengals Jags Titans Bills Falcons Texans Panthers Redskins Browns Ravens Bucs) have very loud, tacky, tasteless game dress. Who do I talk to?
Who cares? The PC crowd has ruined pro football forever anyway.
The Raiders! The Most Feared Bad-ss Villains of Football! Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow and Forever!!!!! Gotta just love'em!!!!!
FlowergirlDeb Not to mention they Moved to Las Vegas a few months ago!!!!
Silver and Black FOREVER
