That's just awesome in musicality and technique !- I've got two fake "Invader" pickups - do you think they're worth putting into a 170? - or just leave the 170 alone?
@@karlsonkab51 Thank you for the kind words! Yes I would 100% experiment putting the fake invaders on it, this is the perfect guitar to customize imo. The stock humbuckers are pretty solid but modifying the pickups would definitely help give it more clarity and enhance the attack on the tone. I always love the challenge to make inexpensive guitars sound expensive and little projects like that. Hope this helps! and if you do it please tag me or send a picture when you finish it, would love to see it! 🤘🤘🤘
@@bryandilionnis - cool ! - I'm 74 - played a little bass - shoulders now locked and ilots of tendon pain in both arms - can barely get a bass into position - just did a pup swap on a Glarry GIB - - Wilkinison M ceramic P for neck - Artec Big Pole ceramic for bridge - not a lot of output - my theory = big steel pole pieces needed more magnet-= I'll try to load it in a day or so . The worst part on the Glarry basses is the plastic nut - and i don't have dedicated bas nut files. I'd love to see a tour of Glarry factory ! - btw - paid $10 on sale for both fake Invader pups.
my kid has the 170 so I'm putting them in a burning flame - same pups I think as 170 - I saved money getting the funky orange bobbin version but it looks pretty ugly against the light yellow body. I can put the link in this thread - if that's OK. I'll probably splice the new wires to old to save misery
@@bryandilionnis I spliced the new pickups in but for right now only have a little Joyo plug/amp with my headphones to check things.- and it overloads easily. Only the switch positions all the way "up" and all the way "down" have correct volume - plenty of it. I did not touch the switch. I wonder if the middle pickup is out of phase and fighting the Invaders ? My kid ha he 170 but think my burning fire model is identical electronics wise. (?) What might be wrong? I'll check the cavity to see if there are any shorts. My yellow Burning Fire looks funky with the orange bobbin fake Invaders. I never checked the guitar stock for pickup mode functionality.
