Probably one of your better kata videos. Would love to see more variation in speed and to see control breathing while doing the katas. I've had alot of comments saying that these 2 things change the katas into a more spectacular and powerful show of the kata and the students power and control. Anyway best wishes with your karate journey.

Hi! I’ve commented on one of your videos before when i was a green belt, i’m a red belt now working on seuinchin (if that s how you spell it). Your videos have helpt me a ton so could you do another one on seuinchin if you haven’t?

HI Emily. I'm Karate. Good Body Mechanics. Criticisms. (1) Don't lean into strike (technique). (2) Too much speed. Kata is not a race; kata is controlled precision. (3) Following (2), the turns are turns, not spins. We often see people demonstrating kata with physicality; which is Shotokan style. Kata is not about great physical ability .. it's major purpose is to instill mental discipline. Hope that helps. 😄CHEERS.

Hi! I’m JJ and I’m 3rd Dan. Your Bassai-Dai is looking great! I have a tip- when doing inside and outside blocks, you want to use your hips to get the power. This is what instructors are looking for in the kata. If you utilise the hips, your kata will be cleaner. You are doing great and saw that you got 1st Dan. Congratulations you’re very talented.

one thing i noticed through the video, is that your end position of shuto uke (knife hand), are a bit high. ELBOW position should be downwards making the technique looks more like a V if see from the side. your hand looks straight in the video. oss

Great job I would to see what training you do to get to this point

That footwork is painful to watch... Tell them if their feet are no more than shoulder-wide apart their balance will be 100% better and each step takes way less energy. Fights have been lost because the loser let their feet were too far apart so their footwork made them too slow. Also, when i fight i'm HOPING my opponent will change their forward foot that much because if i'm at the right distance and go for it when they do, they can't do anything about it for a very useful second or two.

Hi I’m 13 and I have just changed karate styles. I was 3rd kyu in my previous style but has had to start all over again in GKR. These videos really help me improve and its great to have another girl to look up to! Emily is really good and I hope to be up to her level one day!😊
