Thanks for this. Hopefully I can get a run like this using your strategies. I only bought the game Monday (I didn't even hear about this game until last week) and I've played it for 14 hours. I could see myself playing it 20 hours a week. It's extremely addictive. After getting Platinums on Astro Bot and Ghost of Tsushima, Balatro on Steam has become my new obsession.

This was such a unique game, so many novel ideas, the aesthetics, interface, sound design and a story that reads like a short novel by Clarke, Asimov or Dick. It needed a bit more polish tho. Damn, that moment when Palace was starting/freaking out, the waves of light going across endless corridors...

Seriously, this simple card game that you can finish in 40 minutes while you're on the subway beat open-world game productions with premium content for stage design, characters, music, and that last thousands of hours... now I understand why Concord exists... the decline of games in the West is unavoidable...

I still do not see why this was for game of the year. At least something like Celeste deserved it but this is just cards with a twist.

Inspired by Mario Kart since the power ups are based off of Mario Kart, Ranged weapons are green or shells, mines are bananas. The barges are the your horns seen in Mario Kart 8, then there’s the lighting bolt power up which can screw over the leader.

man, you kinda feel bad for knoxx and mikey. knoxx hates it on pandora. mikey is just a misguided 5y/o trying and failing to make knoxx happy. athena is a psycho woman who wants to kill everyone in the lance because of the decision of high command to trick her into killing her sister. IOW, she was mostly killing people who were not involved, didn't deserve to die, and didn't even know exactly why she was killing them and likely would've sided with her had they known.

This pile of shit got the Game Of The Year nomination? How? It's just a fucking card game. Silent Hill 2 and Soace Marine 2 were ROBBED over this basic piece of shit and the crappy Elden Ring DLC. Even if I liked Elden Ring and didn't think that it was over-rated trash (which is exactly what I think of it), then Erdtree still shpuld have been in its own category for Best DLC; not Game Of The Year.

I can see why this game was nominated for GOTY.
