Have you ever considered leaving behind the types of shells that can be used by crabs? I looked at your Etsy page, and it looks like you should consider that. I didn't consider that stuff, but thankfully I've started to and now I bring lots of shells back to the beach.

I was there in December and there were zero shells with a north wind. What wind direction brings in the shells there? Was that a negative low tide?

I was just there this past Monday. My first visit. Spent just under 3 hrs actually shelling on the gulf side all up and down the beach. I found 4 alphabet cones. Love those shells. No Junonia...darn it. I went on the 11a to 3p tour. I was shelling on Kice and Dickman's in July...So many Florida Fighting Conchs there. I like Keewaydin alot because there are no stumps to trip you up when looking for shells. We will be returning to Keewaydin and possibly Shell Island in April...I need a minimum of 4 hrs actually shelling. The 3 hrs was barely enough this past Monday. I collected over 100 calico scallops. I found a knobless, albanistic Florida Fighting Conch. I added that to my collection. I had so much fun with my new hobby. Wished I lived closer but close enough. I live in SE Georgia near Savannah. I have made 4 Florida trips this year and snuck in some shelling on each one. You found some really pretty alphabet cones.

Throwing the animals could kill them . They have abductor muscles that hold the animals in the shells. Set them down gently.

Oh. I hope you don’t take too many. Shells are better left where you found them. Animals use them and they break down depositing nutrients back into the ecosystem. Please, please don’t encourage this, it’s irresponsible. 😓 Humans don’t utilize things like this, we just let them collect dust. Only take 1-2!! The ocean needs our help, please stop using it like it’s an infinitely regenerating system. Every action counts. Clean up trash instead!! ❤
