As far as I'm concerned, Viking got it right. The understand the seasoned traveler.
Can you hug any animals
No, we can't hug the animals in Antarctica. Antarctic animals, like penguins, seals, and whales, are wild and need to be left undisturbed. International agreements, like the Antarctic Treaty and its Environmental Protocol, emphasize protecting the unique wildlife there. These rules prohibit close interaction with animals to ensure their safety and well-being, as well as ours. Observing from a respectful distance is the best way to appreciate them! If an animal in Antarctica approaches us, stay calm, stay still or slowly back away to give it space. Let it leave on its own and follow the guide’s instructions.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Would you might sharing which travel insurance did you purchase?
Thanks for your question! Travel insurance is a personal choice and depends on individual needs. Feel free to email me (kengraham@travelonly.com) and I’d be happy to share some tips or insights!
With these kind of trips and money spent people need to be in good conditions. I was in Egypt and Japan we had some elder people. When they tell you to hold on you hold on and be cautious. They did not have issues like some people others might have.
Short sweet and to the point❤
What is the name of the some at the 4 minute mark?
'Adventure Is Calling' by Vens Adams
Nice short and while technically true, little misleading… Crew do get generally healthy meals designed for the very international make up of the team. But it definitely is not the same food as the guests and it’s not presented as depicted. And while yes, most crew do have opportunities to go ashore, 10 hour work days are fairly standard and often longer with no full days off for the 6 month contracts. Crew usually want to just sleep when they do get a break. It is a very good opportunity for many crew, but not as glamorous as shown.
How do you become a ship officer
Steps: 1: Cut papyrus skin 2: Hammer the inner part to soften it 3: Soak it in water 4: Press and dry the papyrus 5: You have papyrus paper now
Was the balcony worth it?
The balcony was a worthwhile addition for us, offering several practical benefits: we could easily test the temperature (to get prepared when venturing out to the deck), enjoy extended periods of observation (with the option to step inside easily if it got too cold or windy), have convenient access to fresh air, and maintain a continuous connection to the outdoors (even on rough sea days when the deck may be closed for safety). However, as recommended by many, we also found that spending as much time on the deck as possible truly enhanced the experience. The deck provides a more panoramic view and allows you to respond to wildlife announcements (like whale sightings) with ease, making it simpler to catch those incredible moments.
@TravelOnlyWithKen Thanks Ken!
Ken, what time of year did you go on your expedition? We are so excited about doing this in January 2025, and your videos are brilliant!
Thank you, and we're glad you enjoyed the videos! We went to Antarctica in late December and early January and saw lots of wildlife. January has long daylight hours, which is great for land expeditions. You're going to love your trip in January 2025!
@@TravelOnlyWithKen Great to know. As you are a Graham, i will trust you implicitly!!
amazing video
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh that was so beautiful and interesting the scenery was beautiful
How much was it? And how long was the duration?
This expedition cruise lasts 12 days, with a double balcony cabin costing around $20k for two people. However, there are lower and higher cabin categories available on the ship to suit different preferences. Additionally, Hurtigruten offers multiple itineraries in Antarctica, some extending beyond 20 days to explore surrounding areas like the Falklands and South Georgia.
I am confused and need help between this cruise line and Ponant. Can you help me make a choice?
@@omarwilliams6729 Both Ponant and Hurtigruten offer unique Antarctic cruise experiences, each catering to different preferences. If you prioritize luxury amenities and fine dining, Ponant may be the better choice. If you’re more interested in scientific exploration and environmental sustainability, Hurtigruten could be more appealing. Ponant offers a French-inspired experience, which might be a draw if you appreciate French culture and cuisine. Hurtigruten provides a more Scandinavian ambiance. Ultimately, your choice should align with your personal preferences regarding comfort, educational opportunities, cultural experiences, and environmental considerations.
The interiors of Uniworld vessels are, by far, the most beautifully decorated in the industry. My absolute favorite. Your fellow Uniworld guests will be the most interesting people you’ll ever meet. Viking serves up the cold, Nordic minimalist vibe. I’m 68 and I think I’ve been the youngest guest on board. Very limited menus, especially at dinner. Needless to say, very quiet at night. Not complaining. I’ve never sailed on Ama.
They do include gratuities. They have a gratuities package.
Well done video and yes, it brought back many fine memories. Thank you.
We love Viking. After taking many cruses with others over years, this is now our only one. We are up to 14 Viking cruses (river & ocean). We rate the Viking food as a 4 star restaurant.
Wow, 14 Viking cruises! That’s incredible! 🙌. We love Viking too-the ship, the service, the attention to detail, and the consistency across their fleet really set them apart, all while keeping everything casual and relaxing. And a 4-star restaurant rating for their food-that's such a great compliment, especially considering all dining options are included without any additional charge. Do you have a favorite Viking ship or destination from your many journeys?
I want to go
Grazie il famoso canale grande. E il mio amorsito gradisco...
Grazie mille! È un posto speciale.
I’ll go with small
Do you see anything?
No alien sightings this time! Just lots of penguins, whales and seals enjoying their icy home.
Nice
Thank you for including Closed Captioning in your video!!!!👍

On our last three Viking cruises the package was $20 per person but has risen to $25 for our upcoming cruise. If you want more than their standard draft beer or their choice of "red" or "white" wine with your meal, then the SSBP is probably worth it. Also, if you want a cocktail, a premium glass of wine and an after dinner drink then it's cheaper to buy the package than three individual drinks. On a 2023 cruise they also had an $18 per glass of Champagne included.

It was a dog originally, it was changed ,thats why the head is so small in comparison to the body. Get a real aerial photo and u will see.
The head is too small for the rest of the body. Plus it all could have been manufactured in the 19 th century like the rest of post reset history ( tartaria and mud flood )
That's complete bull shit

So why did the white man break of his nose.
Because the nose was that of a black man and white man doesn’t want white people to know the truth or give black man his power back or them to learn that they r the image of god!
why does the race matter?
@@DarkBluePaperHats It was taught
Because history has been white washed and it’s not accurately told to justify the colonisation narrative.
You don't know your Egyptian history very well. Go back to school. I'm not being mean. You really need to get your Facts straight
Quite the opposite. It is believed that the sphynx was once a large cliff that natural wind gust and sand, slowly shaped the cliff into the shape it is. And the egyptians just did what all humans do, and put a face on it. The shape was obviously cleaned up and given more detail by the masons and carpenters, but the overall shape has been observed to happen alot more commaly in the high heat, low humidty climates. This is all documented, and studied by National Geographic
