Hi! Welcome back. I enjoyed your video. Thanks! It was exciting to see how many of the Italian stamps are new to your collection. The stamps are very attractive, and I enjoyed that you showed a slide show at the end so that one can see the stamps close up and appreciate them.

Wow, I did not know that Snorri Sturluson was on any stamp apart from Iceland. I am reading some of the Sagas now, so I will have to find the stamp. 👍 Also, I had not considered the Austrian postmarks. I have thousands of old stamps from there, so I will be looking. Thank you for such a nice video!

I regularly clean old stamp from old hinges and backing paper. Here's my method: 1. Place stamps in the water. If water is somethat warm (not hot!), it helps removing old hinges, glue remains etc. A little detergent is OK, but only if stamps are dirty. 2. When old glue is dissolved (you can see it as it forms little bubbles) and hinges are loose, remove stamps from the water. At this point, they are very wet and not very suitable for drying paper yet. 3. Place the stamps on flat, hard surface (e.g. a plastic sheet), face down. 4. Use a regular paper towel to dry the excess water from the stamps. After that, stamps are stuck to the surface, flat and mostly dry. At this point you can spot and remove any hinge remains. 5. Few minutes later, stamps start to dry up and become unstuck. This is the moment you can lift them off using your tweezers. 6. Place the stamps between two sheets of drying paper (I use "eco" copy paper which is gray) and press them with two large heavy books or similar objects. 7. Since the stamps are mostly dry, it only takes them few hours to dry completely. 8. If there are any pencil marks at the back of the stamps you want gone, you can use "kneaded pencil eraser". Do not use regular pencil eraser, it will damage the paper. Of course, being delicate is a must, even with proper tools. I suppose you need a little more patience, but the effect is very good and no special equipment is necessary. My entire US Washington-Franklin collection went through this ordeal :) This method also works well with larger stamps, souvenir sheets etc. Excess water makes them warp.

It is nice to find something like this, something that waited for a long time to be (re-discovered). There were some really nice cancellations there. And some nice history lessons for me. Did not know Norway had a different capital at some point. And the town that has a Polish and German side, interesting. Good video, I enjoyed it!

Genova is pronounced Jenova (Ge sounds the same way of Je in Jersey and so Gi sounds the same way of Ji in Jim), the guttural sound you used in Italian is written Ghe and also the group Ghi is guttural, and the groups Ga, Go and Gu are too. Nice stamps, I have enjoyed your video.

Great and interesting video! Thanks! 🙂😊That was an excellent surprise mix to find. Do you leave yourself some surprises to find later regularly? It is like finding a hidden Easter Egg. 🙂 You gave a very good account of the content, and it was nice to also get the statistics and to see from what countries the stamps came, and to see the better value stamps. Some of those postmarks were really neat and clear. I enjoyed the video.

A long lost bag of stamps... what a fun video! I'm glad you discovered some nice stamps in your unexpected treasure find. I found the postmarks fascinating, like the postmarks from towns which have since moved country or changed the name of the town. The Arendal stamp with the little stars on it was my favourite, but I think the Japanese postmark could be more unusual. Thanks for an interesting video. :)
