Inside an Award-winning Bakery | Bread Furst | Washington, DC
Welcome to Washington DC! This is one of my favorite rides through the district. It’s been four years since my last visit, and I’m thrilled to explore and rediscover the city’s culinary treasures.
My first stop? Bread Furst, tucked away in the Van Ness neighborhood of Northwest DC. On weekends, this place is packed with people grabbing breakfast or picking up a fresh baguette for dinner.
This hidden gem goes beyond artisan multigrain and sourdough loaves. Their all-day menu includes pastries, cookies, cakes, pies, and savory brunch bagels starting at 8 a.m. daily.
Bread Furst also offers a curated selection of culinary delights-cheeses, wines, jams, and high-quality teas and coffee-perfect for foodies looking for something unique.
But my favorite part? Watching their team roll out traditional baguettes and bake them in massive ovens. I could honestly stand here for hours, mesmerized.
The owner, Mark Furstenberg, is a James Beard award winner. His passion is inspiring the next generation of bakers, who are crafting the best bread in town.
Fun fact: the French embassy, just down the street, exclusively orders their baguettes from here. That says it all!
Today, I’m indulging in a pain au chocolat and a cappuccino. Plus, I couldn’t resist the glazed donut, which came highly recommended by the friendly staff.
Every bite reminds me why I love supporting small, local businesses like this one. The community here is vibrant, and places like Bread Furst are the heartbeat of neighborhoods like Van Ness.
So, if you’re ever in the Nation’s Capital, make sure to stop by Bread Furst. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves great food and even better vibes.
Thanks for watching! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more food and travel adventures!
