Hello! Join me as I walk you through my new garage gym and show you what its comprised of. I plan on adding/subtracting some things - but here is the current set up. If you have questions/comments on equipment, layout, cost, etc... drop them below and I'll answer them. Same as running your propane bbq grill in the garage.
@@Racontact hey - thanks for watching the video! To respond to your comment, it’s inaccurate. Grills and indoor heaters have different ways to ignite the propane. So long there is a way to ventilate the humidity, everything is safe. Not to mention, the sensors inside the heater will cut off if the oxygen levels are too low. Feel free to google the ways they ignite the propane. Have a wonderful weekend ahead!
Can I install this heater in a regular home?
Great video young man
@@georgemullin7772 George, thank you so much!! I appreciate the kind words! Hope the video helped out in one way or another!
propane tank in the house definately a very very bad idea...
Could run a dehumidifier with it
Great video Carlos. love the American and PR Flags.
This is stupid i live in a camper with one its awsome toasty they r awsome blue flame keeps me alive
Do you think this is a better option vs having a 220 volt electric heater hooked up?
Great question! All comes down to budget and frequency of use. I’ll list a few pros and cons of each. Electric 240v Pro: heat at the flip of a switch Pro: no fuel to replace Con: initial cost of installation (I was quoted between 1500-2000 all depends on the length of wire needed to be run to your breaker box) Propane: Pro: anyone can install it, all you pay for is the heater itself Pro:very efficient Con: you’ll have to switch out the propane tank every so often. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to consider. Hope this helps! I have another video on my channel going over the yearly review as well with FAQ’s.
Oh I will also add; a con to the 240v is the cost of electricity. This could turn into a big cost.
Co2 is odorless so you will not know if there is a leak unless u have co2 detectors. If you smell rotten eggs thats a gas leak. Both propain and natural gas have a similar smell that is added so u know if there is a leak. Also that tank is 15lbs.
The dyson heaters surge to 1800 watts for the first 30 seconds then go to 1500 watts. That will blow some fuses in some houses.
DYSON🤦🏻♂️
Nice gym!!! But you can’t curl a cellphone😂
Problem I’ve heard about using a propane heater, is the moisture it puts in the air. You noticed it yourself with the water vapor on your weights. And with my garage being used as a woodworking shop, all my equipment and tools would start to gain rust. I say that as it’s happened to others. Wish it wasn’t an issue, or I’d be using that heating system!
Hey James - Luckily (or unluckily) my garage isn't well insulated or air tight. Because of that, moisture has not been a problem at all. And with the fan in place as an extra way to circulate air, I have yet to run into that issue. Pop in a dehumidifier into your garage. There are fairly inexpensive ones that start around to $40-$50 USD range. Without a doubt, that will definitely fix the issue, should it become one. Thanks for watching! :)
How is all the extra moisture doing in your garage with that style heater, or do you also run a dehumidifier at the same time?
Hey, John. I have a video on the channel with a year review about it all. But in short, the moisture hasn’t done any “damage” to my gym equipment. No extra surface rust on any equipment or weight plate that would’ve otherwise happened on its own without the heater. My garage isn’t the most sealed. Which conveniently enough, allows me to not even have to open a window. (I’m looking at my not-so-well sealed garage as a plus in this light lol) So, if you have a well insulated area, ventilation via a cracked open window should be enough. If it’s a very small space you’re dealing with or hobbies that can get ruined with small amounts of moisture, than I would consider getting a dehumidifier. Thanks for watching!
I came for the heating advice. I stayed for the breathtakingly handsome man providing the heating advice 🥵🤣
Thank you for the kind words 😂❤ hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Approximately how long does it take this to heat your garage up say 20 degrees?
Looks like a good solution for someone that only needs to heat the garage while they are in the garage. However, I needed a solution that was safe enough that I could leave it running all the time, day and night, to keep the garage above 50 degrees or so and never let it drop below that. The idea is to maintain a temperature that is better for my cars and won't allow my auto detailing chemicals to freeze. My only option seems to be electric infrared heaters. I've installed one infrared 1500W heater and it seems to keep the garage just above 50 degrees when it's cold out. I plan to install another one on the other side of the garage (on a separate circuit) in hopes that the two of them might be able to maintain the garage temp at around 60 degrees, which I'd be fine with. Yes, I will have a higher electric bill from December through March, but that's just how it is unless I go to the expense of installing a 240v power line and get a more powerful heater, or install a mini-split. The heaters I got are also WiFi and are programmable via an app on my phone. I was able to setup rules to run the heater at different levels depending on outside temperature, or turn the heater off if the outside temp is above 50 degrees. The important thing is to make sure you garage is somewhat well insulated, including garage doors and any windows, so that it keeps the cold air out and keeps the warm air in. I insulated my garage doors a couple of weeks ago and plan to insulate my garage windows this weekend. It was 23 degrees outside last night and my garage stayed between 50 and 55 degrees, with the heater running intermittently to maintain that.
Put chemicals on seed starting warming pads...
I have some built in wooden shelves in the garage. Do you think I could mount it on the front of this “shelf ledge”? It’s a 2x4 that runs horizontally.
Hey JWB - im not sure what you mean by on the front. But my 1-year update video has a lot of common questions and, if i remember correctly, i go over the distances that it needs to be away from certain things. Cheers!
@@carlosistribe I built wooden shelves , and I have a couple 2x6 as vertical supports. I was thinking about mounting the unit to these vertical supports. So I guess I’d picture it like “exposed studs” except it’s a shelf behind it
Do you have any issues with the 20lb tank rather than than 100lb? I really only want to Run it when it gets close to Below freezing in the garage
No issues at all. only difference is that the 100lb will last you a bit longer. I run mine constantly for 2-3 hours a day and im usually good for a 2-ish months. Just remember, your time on either size tank will depends on how the insulation is in your garage, how big it is, and how big of a change in temperature you want. Cheers!
@@carlosistribe thx!
Vertigo?
Thanks for the review, I'm going to do it.
Thank you for watching!
You still need to make sure you have a window open a little for air ventilation. Never burn fumes in a closed up space or room😢
Hey Cheryl :) by theory you are 100% right. However, if you knew how much air escapes/enters via the gaps in the garage doors, you’d say it’s like already having three windows open 😂. Thanks for watching ❤️
Great Great Great video. New Sub I bought a mini split but I'm gonna switch to this setup for my 10x20 off grid shed cabin For your morning dew moisture issue just pick up a nice humidifier and that will solve it.
To be clear. LPG (liquid propane gas) is odorless. They put mercaptan in it so that if there's a leak, you'll be able to smell it. That's the odor he's referring to. It's also heavier than air. CO (carbon monoxide) is odorless, that's why you need a CO meter to detect it. It's also lighter than air so the meter shouldn't be placed near the floor.
im looking at buying one of these. question thought. if you have it turned up all the way. how close can you stand up to it without it being extremely hot? The reason im asking is, where i am wanting to install it, my bass boat sits about 3ft away from it.
Great question. i believe the manual says 24-36 inches from whatever is directly in front of it and at least 18 inches above it must be free. if its an aluminum boat with nothing flammable in the immediate area, its risky, but your call. if its a fiberglass hull, i wouldnt run that risk at all. What i did was install it about 4.5ft up on the wall and had a fan above it as shown in the video. and it works extremely well. There is another video on my channel going over a review after a year. hope that helps!
Hey, Great stuff... I can Not find the link or the part number for the regulator/adapter for the 20 gallon tank.....Can you please post a link or part #'s? Thank you!
How long does one of those propane’s last?
Not long I bet
Great review. End of line.
Very thorough review. Thanks, very much.
Space Heaters !
Hi, Cathy! not sure what you mean exactly by space heaters. But if you mean the electrical ones that plug into a normal outlet at home, those in terms of cost, is the least feasible for a garage that isnt well insulated and of this size. Trust me, i tried. I had four 1500 watt space heaters lol barely moved the temperature up 3-4 degrees. And thats not taking into account the sky rocketing of my electrical bill for those two months. hahahaha
Why not a kerosene heater
Great question - around me propane is much more readily available and simplistic to use, at least for me. It's been a true 'plug and play' method. Thanks for watching!
*Here's the link to the most recent model!* amzn.to/3ietzQt
Question now… how long do the tanks last before you have to fill them up again?
NOONE ever answers this fucking question.
8-12 hours
Depends how long the heater itself has to run to warm the room. The smaller the room the longer a tank will last bc the heater won’t be on for very long at a time. The larger the room the more gas needed to heat it.
is itt possible to connect it to a wall thermostat so u can control it via wifi?
good question - im not too sure about that. I kept my set up as simple as i could
Great Review ... Thankyou Carlos x
I luv the fact that its not stupid loud
What’s is the link
I have an idea what you should do climb up on the roof and jump off head first.
Too many roids dude
I appreciate the compliment. or at least, i'll take it as such. hahaha no roids here. if I did, i'd be wearing a tank top not an oversized hoodie. LOL
How long does a tank last? How expensive per week of propane
How long does a full 10lb last ya? Great vid btw
not sure, only ran on 20lbs. My other video goes further in depth
I bought a dyna glo one and put my eco fan in front of it . I put the feet on and put the eco fan up on a concrete block in front of it . Basement in just over an hour went from 50 degrees to 61 degrees on low and basement is 30 by 98 feet
Thanks Carlos for the info gonna do it in my gearge
Thanks for watching, Claudio!!!
Is it supposed to smell gas when you first install it I heard let it run for a while to see if it goes away
yeah - usually what youre smelling is the adhesives in the heater settling. if youre using the propane route, it'll smell like rotten eggs. its a smell you cant miss or confuse with anything else. be sure to check the hose connection with soapy water. if it bubbles, you may have a leak.
about how long does that little propane tank last you?
i have another video on my channel that goes over that - take a look. Thanks for watching!!!
Is it really loud?
good question. not at all. the residential fan i have is louder lol
Gracias por los tips mi chingon
jajaja! a la orden, amigo mio!
Good stuff man!
Thanks, Jesse!
Nice review. Thank u. My son says they are not safe inside. Trying to prove him wrong.
People use these in RV's and are proven to be safe. However, i would say have a carbon monoxide detector and keep it well ventilated. All the gaps i have in the garage do more then enough venting for me lol Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks Carlos! Appreciate you doing this video. Exactly what I was looking to do in my garage. Nice setup also.
Thanks, Brian!!
Great review. This is the first year I'm painting furniture in my garage and the winter is around the corner. Wondering if It's safe to paint with this heater on? Maybe brush and roll ,but I don't know about spraying? Just looking at your leg press gives me nightmares! Had a double hernia operation back in the early 2000's because of that machine ( finally trying to get my legs bigger..ha) right now I'm seeing a Dr because they might have to rip the mesh out and redo both sides because I'm having issues with them! Ugh. Be careful buddy!
