Bertha is a gorgeous cow and I'm glad it's helping her feel better. The barn will look great with some fresh paint. Sad to hear about the bees but id say your probably right about a deer hitting it over. I'm not surprised you got a volunteer hive it's pretty common. As long as the hive thinks it'll be safe it'll live there. Hopefully your cherry tree makes it and you have a wonderful December so far!

A heads up! Just because it is field corn, does not mean it is resistant to herbicide. You can buy herbicide resistant corn, both sweet corn and field corn. If the label on the corn seed bag does not state that it is resistant, then it is not. I plant both field corn and sweet corn that are labeled either Liberty or Roundup Ready.
