      @theVAP but for an 800 watt microwave pulling about 1000 watts, 148 amps at 12 volts is 1700 watts! That's around 60% efficiency ballpark. Ouch!! I'm hoping it's at least a pure sinewave.

    • @theVAP
      @theVAP 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Interesting point. I’d need to check the current draw on the AC side to be sure. It’s an older GoPower pure sine wave.

  • @JoeyLanclos-x6m
    @JoeyLanclos-x6m 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Looking at the graphic charts you showed, 12.8 volts is the near dead voltage. 14.2 is a full charge.

    • @theVAP
      @theVAP 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I thought so too, but going by the battery’s Bluetooth, it shows 100% with 280 ah and seems to settle around 13.6. Then the BMS switches to standby. The Trimetric is calculating via what it sees the shunt do over time regarding fullness.

    • @JoeyLanclos-x6m
      @JoeyLanclos-x6m 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @theVAP his voltage indicator showed between 14.1 to 13.9. I've got two each, 4 cell LiFePo batteries that the bms tops at 14.2 and shuts off at 12.2 or so. Seems a touch more than flooded lead acid 6 cell. Their floating voltage is 13.2 and lithium around 14 to 12.9 on the lower end of useful charge. Fla is dead at 10 volts.

    • @theVAP
      @theVAP 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I did a test today and drew 100amps for over an hour. Voltage stayed at 12.6 under load as it dropped to about 58% per the BMS. Then I used Boost mode on my charger and the BMS stopped accepting charge when it reached 100% at 14.4v. Slowly with no charger on it, its settled to 13.6v and 100% with 280ah. You’re right on the 10v -spec says that’s the low cutoff. 14.6 is the high cutoff.

    • @theVAP

    Couldn’t the haze be polished out? Your old panels were installed directly under sources of shade, so you would never get close to the 500 watts that you installed. Newer Shade Stoppers could mitigate that, but they weren’t available when you did your original installation. I wonder if your original panels had ETFE coating to protect against sun damage?

      @@stuartstuart866 This is my second go around with flexible panels failing. The first time I worked with the manufacturer and they sent the 500w kit. They never mentioned polishing them. What they told me was my panels were part of a bad batch from their manufacturer. So I don’t they can be polished. Only so much room up there so some shading is inevitable. So far I’m happy with the new panels and after seeing how they look, I would never have bothered with flexible.

    I ended up with some flexible panels from Uni-Solar - but did not want to use on My 85 Airstream --- because the heat from panels would transfer heat into the trailer . Where framed panels would do much better --- giving shade making trailer cooler ;) Just incase - any chance in that you could cut your old panels around the connectors & see what we could do for reuse ? Some of my panels did not come with the plastic cover / wire connectors ? Thanks for the video

    Does it really include the 12 volt power cord with the 2 pin molex connector? I phoned Winegard, and they said that the power cord with connectors is not included and that it should be in the ceiling in the rv, but it is not. The 3 small wires are there, and the power cord (in a loop with no end or connectors) is in the ceiling as well. I don't want to purchase the Ranger Osprey if I have no way of powering it. Thanks.

      @@Dougy_Fresh Yes. WifiRanger calls it “Filtered Networks”. The newer firmware(s) negotiates the “Splash” screen so you can accept terms. In general it has worked well and saved me a few times from poor coverage. It relies on the campground wifi and that’s where the limit is. If you have a good reception of LTE, external antenna, etc. You will probably have faster speeds. With the recent release of Starlink, there may be better options depending on your needs.

    • @theVAP
      @theVAP 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the different speeds of the cellular modem. Not talking about network cables here. It has to do with the number of LTE channels the modem can access at a time and combine them for higher speeds download/upload over the cellular network.

    I waited almost two years for the Everest to start shipping before I made my purchase. Now I've been using it and an Aspen for close to a year. Simply, they are expensive junk. Neither will stay connected to any outside internet source reliably, they crash regularly and must be manually reconnected, the control panels do random weird things that make no sense, and most of the advanced features they tout don't work (including failover to a second internet source, and load balancing or combining between sources). (Support remotely logged into my routers to "optimize" the settings to improve my reliability; all they did was turn off all the features that I bought the system for! Seriously. And the routers still crash.) Although the Everest and Aspen are connected with the ethernet cable supplied with the kit, the Aspen regularly loses contact with the Everest. I have been talking to Support for almost the entire year, since the original ethernet cable they sent was defective, and they replaced the Aspen after it stopped booting after just 3 months. Even now I still have an open trouble ticket since November but Support keeps saying it must be power problems (but they provided the power brick that powers both Everest and Aspen), the wifi I connect to is unreliable (although I have the same problems will ALL wifi networks I connect to), or my "environment" is causing the problem (but they won't explain what that means). Support doesn't look at any logs, completely read my detailed problem descriptions, nor do they perform any troubleshooting; I'm convinced they know the firmware is unstable. I've asked repeatedly for a refund but they deny my request. Support has gotten much worse since WifiRanger was purchased by Wineguard. Oh, and the firmware for both Everest and Aspen are STILL IN BETA, after being sold for over 2.5 years now. I always thought that Beta (uncompleted, unstable, still being tested) software was put into production (fully tested, reliable) before it was sold as a product... But what do I know? I'm only a software programmer myself, with over 20 years' experience. WifiRanger: Such great marketing, so much promise, but ultimately, so much junk! I also have an older, unimpressive, Sky4 that is more reliable than this Converge system. I'm not alone; read reviews on Amazon and other locations.
