HELL YEAH it's the right guy at the right time it's a outside of the box hire and we never pursued anyone other the Scott Drew or Dan hurley Mitch Barnhart wanted Scott I believe the only reason he ask hurley was too satisfy KY fan's and he just won back to back championships for 1 KY as fan's has been divided because of cal he lost touch with us fan's a long time ago and pope is 1 of us he knows this fan base an what it means too ky cal put himself & putting players in the NBA over KY over winning and pope will make us a priority fan's & winning championships with that player's will also make it to the NBA

Coming from a gator/BYU fan congrats you just hired a hidden gem. You have no idea how great of a basketball HC you just hired. Guy turned UVU(one of the worst programs in D 1 when he got there) into a ranked program by year 4. First year at BYU(who had been average since the great Jimmer years) finished ranked in the top 15 and beat #1 Gonzaga to end the year but due to Covid couldn’t play in the canceled NCAA tournament. 4 out of 5 years there had them ranked. First year transitioning into the Big 12 had 3 top 10 wins Kansas, Iowa St, and Baylor, plus he beat top 25 SDSU and Final 4 NC St. He’s accomplished all this at BYU while dealing with a honor code that doesn’t allow his players to have sex before marriage, no facial hair, a curfew, no flip flops, no sleeveless shirts, no tobacco, no alcohol, no coffee and tea, and had to attend church meetings… yea no top recruit is gunna agree to that unless they’re LDS. Now at UK he doesn’t have to deal with the honor code and finally has real resources to recruit and develop. Rick Pitino just said it, y’all found a young great HC. Guy even has NBA and overseas experience. Played with Melo and won a title at UK.

First place mitch Barnhart only pursued Scott drew and when he said no mitch gave an offer the Dan hurley witch in fact it took 5 season for him to make the NCAA TOURNAMENT and then was knocked out in the first rd an who was Dan hurley before uconn just another coach at a small school R island and why wait on Billy Donovan who never said o yeah after the season ends I'll come just give mark a chance for 1 he ky all the way next if anyone can get Reed shelperd to return it's him he played with his dad Jeff

I heard yesterday that if KY hired Mark Pope that Reed Shepherd would stay at KY at least another year. I wonder if this had anything to do with MB hiring Pope? He and Jeff Shepherd are close friends still to this day. I think this is a bad hire, especially with 3+ other coaches out there who are more qualified for the position.

UK has zero players, no roster. Waiting for Donovan wasnt an option. This is a great hire. He's enthusiastic, very motivational, passionate about UK, and smart! With UK resources he will be able to recruit, and the players he brings in will be humble, hungry, and loyal for a change! Give him a chance!

We screwed up. We should have kept Cal one more year and fired Barnhart instead. Then next year fired Cal because any athletics director could make a better pick than this. It looks like we couldn’t get Hurley so we just hired someone that looks like him. Bruce Pearl would have been a better pick and I don’t even like him. Fans are mad because we weren’t winning so we need a coach that can win. We wasted the last 5 years with Calipari, now we’re going to waste 5 years on Pope, even if he does do a good job eventually. I can’t believe that the greatest basketball school in the country has come to this. You hire “feel good” coaches and you become Indiana.
