Question what belt replace the drive belt

Having an issue where I replaced the carb, it starts and stays on but it feels like it’s not at full throttle or the engine is weak. The moment I run it over any grass it struggles to stay on. Keeping it on in the same position is no problem though.

My unloader valve i think is broken. It's doesn't move freely, its just loose.

These unfortunately break all the time. Very thin metal in a very hot place with lots of vibration. Plus it bears the weight of the muffler heat shield assembly above it. It’s an engine design flaw IMHO - metal near mounting tabs needs to be thicker or reinforced.

How do you put the spring on do you have a video on that?

AFTER replacing the air filter, the spark plug and the gas filter, my mower still would not start. Thank you for this video on replacing the choke actuator was found, and while getting the part out is a pain(I used a small vise grip), it did work. Thanks for saving me time and money, since my local repair shop couldn't even look at the problem for 3-4 weeks, and I was already considering a new mower.

How did you get the spring on? Tried needle nose, they cant hold the tension of the spring. It slips out of the teeth long before the spring can engage the casting.

That is what I did

opened up a used GCV160 mower I picked up (only started right after I bought it). Had the autochoke thermostat removed, was missing gaskets and the card had been changed to a manual choke carb but disconnected, no control. Made some gaskets and tied a rope to the manual choke to operante it =). Runs like a champ

Mine starts but have to reach in and help push choke mechanism so mower can run right. Second mower in a row with same symptom.

How do you get the bottle cover off

I never thought about this until recently. Picked up a Coleman CT200U-EX mini bike with the stock 196cc engine and got it running again. Noticed the engine isn't that different than some horizontal shaft engines I've seen before. So now I wonder if an old seized up Honda pressure washer I traded to a scrap metal guy for an antique bike last year would have worked if I bothered to try and un-seized it. That is if it was more than 196cc, can't remember what displacement it was.

I noticed your auto choke mechanism goes over the outside round portion of where thermostat sits. Mine does not do that and I'm having trouble with choke opening.

I have a 25 year old Honda 150CC engine and the choke never worked even when it was new. I discovered that with a nearly full tank of gas, you can tilt the mower 90 degrees on its right side, count to 10 slowly on a warm day and to 20 on a cold day, and fuel dribbles into the engine which provides the perfect prime to start the engine. I'll see if it also works on the GCV160 as well.

Excellent video. I had no idea how the choke works and if I put everything back together properly when I cleaned the carburetor. Now I know what to look for. My concern was the linkage to the choke which you covered well. Thanks!!

If you have adequate pressure, but the engine stalls after you let off the trigger - does that mean the pressure is set too high? I had to put a new pump on mine last year, and have just used it as it came from the factory. Thanks...

How to munt sprokets ?

Hi, thanks for video. So on a cold engine the thermowax needle should be retracted in and not pointing out? Noticed mine is pointing out even though the engine is cold, so Im guessing I need a new one? This comes after the engine suddenly started bucking and spluttering mid mow, Im guessing the choke was engaging from a faulty thermowax? Another question, the drivebelt seems a bit sloppy. Im guessing cable adjustment is necessary? Belt seems in OK condition.

These honda self propelled mowers have a GIGANTIC FLAW! Honda in their infinite wisdom decided a tiny red straw inside the fuel line would work well as a fuel filter. NOPE! it lets crap clog up the tiny little jet inside the carb and your honda is dead in the water. So to avoid this issue you have to put a real fuel filter inline with the fuel hose. Unfortunately I have searched everywhere to find a super short filter with the right inlet and outlets...And let me tell you thats about as rare as hens teeth. The amazon filters i ended up with have a tiny inlet /outlet that are so short they only have 1 single barb so of course they pop off and let all your gas leak out. Had to JB weld the POS filter just to sort of get it to fit! And on a side note I cant stand the jig saw puzzle that is the carburetor and all the crap that mounts to it. I hope yall never have to take one off because you need 3 hands and some reference pictures to put the damn thing back together. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in honda. Will never buy another one of these mowers!!!!

This part should be included as part of a standard carb kit. Grrrr. So after trying to figure what was wrong AFTER replacing the carb, I tried this auto choke repair, but I noticed in the video Bench's choke was closed and mine was not. Stommping out to the garage, I took a look at the carb - wrong carb (thanks Amazon). I'd slap Honda as well for not making it very obvious with the GCV160. If you are going to add an automatic carb, rev the damn engine model. Add a letter or something. Googling "honda parts near me" I found a location 15 minutes down the road. Once I had the correct carb, the Honda started on the first pull. Recommendation: look had to avoid random Chinese crap from Amazon. The carb on amazon cost me 27 and change. From the honda dealer? 31 and change. For $4, I know where I am taking my bsuiness.

You can convert vertical shaft engines pretty easy, good ol 3.5 and up briggs, remove governer add a oil flicker to the bottom of the con rod, flip carb and voila. Valve float around 5500rpm

If it ain’t a Honda you can keep It

I have that exact Kohler sh265 engine on my old Simpson pressure washer and the pump died. I was thinking about using it on a gokart frame but I didn’t know if it was a good engine to use because of the length of the crank. This video gave me enthusiasm to buy a frame and use this engine
