I left England in 1959 years as born on kirky lane this is unbelievable what Longsight has become I read how my church St John’s became a Pakistani meeting place and graves that had been around the church were dug up or tarmac over l guess same thing happened to the school made me sick to even read about it When they say you can’t go back it’s true there is nothing there to remember looks like a third world country

Just watched your video tour in full, thank you so much. I lived in Chorlton for 26 years and grew up on Brundretts Road. It brought back lots of memories and it was nice to see what was the old Gaumont cinema on Manchester Road and the Palace cinema on Barlow-moor-Road. Of course Chorlton-cum-Hardy refers to the latin "cum" meaning "with" joining the four areas including Hardie or Hardy which must refer to Hardy Farm which used to exist at the end of Hardy Lane towards Chorlton meadows.

I was born May 1953 in Rusholme I remember the lake well going on the lake when it was frozen and Pets corner.

I was born there we lived at Avison Ave Chatfeild Rd And Dawlish Dr my Dad had a business there Chorlton Motor Bodies that’s way back in the 57 to the early 70 s we went to Mc Faddiens church my spelling maybe all wrong I was only young when we left the UK so can’t really remember some things !

I use to always go on here in the 80s and 90s. I wouldn't feel right on it now

Could I be boringly nostalgic. In 1945 / 1946, my parents every Sunday took me to Platt Fields Park, in the Summer. I five years of age, there were hundreds of other people in the Park in those days, games of Cricket, even a large Brass Brand. There were rowing boats on the Lake, it was quite a place. I fell into the Lake some years l was larking about with some school friends ( 1950 ) The large building next to the Lake was a Cafe in those days. Anyway, Peace to all.

Longsight market use to be thriving years ago where Barclays Bank is now that was once a shoe shop then you had a butcher’s shop gabbots farm I see greggs is still there and further up the road you had a weatherspoons pub I even remember kwik safe supermarket what was facing the market so many good pubs on Stockport road I’ve got many memories of longsight

I was born and grew up in Manchester. I lived a couple of streets away from here. I remember being 3 years old and going to this market with my mum. It's changed so much and so little at the same time. This video brings back so many memories.

I was born and my dad in ancoats and all his family .He died 22 aug 2021 85 l will always love you my lovely dad . He’s with all his family now 🌹
