I have been fishing as long as I can remember. Trout, Bass, Saltwater Species. All of them feel good on the end of the line! Want to catch more fish? It's all about the details. Even the smallest change in presentation, size, shape, or color can mean the difference between a few fish caught and having a memorable day of fishing.
I'm blessed to have grown up in the rocky mountains where I learned to fly fish for finicky trout in high country streams and world famous rivers like the San Juan River, The Green River, and The Bighorn River. Small flies, light lines, and precise presentations were the norm. Now I am fortunate to live on the famous Alabama bass fishery, Lake Guntersville. Bait casters and spinning rods are the norm though I occasionally pull out the fly rod for fun.
God has blessed us with his beautiful creation. I'm so thankful to enjoy it while sharing my passion for fishing with others. Share God's good news with others and be a fisher of fish and men!

Guntersville Winter Crappie Fishing is Hot! Huge Schools!!!
The winter crappie fishing on Guntersville is excellent with small jigs and forward facing sonar. There are huge schools roaming the bluffs and when the current starts ripping you can find them behind stumps and laydowns on creek channels. They can be picky sometimes but there is always a bite window where it turns hot and in between there are some techniques that can help get them to bite.

The July 2024 Lake Guntersville water temps are in the mid 80’s and the heat index is 100 but if you are willing to sweat it out the topwater bite is on. Most of the schooling fish are 2 to 2.5 lbs but they are so fun. An occasional 3-5 lb fish is a typical bonus as well. 4” walking baits and a 5” custom Ginga Ninja Lures swim bait fished like a buzz bait is getting some heart stopping blow ups...

The post spawn bass bite is good on Lake Guntersville. Bass are feeding and still grouped up in some areas. Points, humps, and grass lines are always a good bet. Early morning and evening bite is best for numbers. Can’t beat a stick bait. Some bigger bites are coming from the ledges on bigger baits.

My son @ginganinjajon and I spent Memorial Day Weekend 2024 fine tuning our forward looking sonar skills for crappie on Lake Guntersville using Active Target. The bite was better than expected. I believe the current was a major factor but we have been using some new baits and techniques that almost seem to make them bite sometimes. It was a great time! God has blessed us both.

Crappie fishing on Lake Guntersville can be awesome during the Winter. The more current the better! Bluffs, ledges, stumps, and bush piles provide current breaks for the fish to hold up in and you can find them stacked up in huge numbers if you spend a little time searching.

The big ones still bite in the winter but you have to slow down the presentation and put it right in their face. I like slow rolling a spark shad right along the bottom to get these fish to eat.

Does it have to be 12" to keep on Guntersville?
No. The legal keeper size is 9”. I just prefer 12” for the nice filet size!
I do like seeing someone who doesn't keep everything they catch,but I'm not a fan of just watching someone fish. Need more content for me to subscribe to the channel. People want videos with content that will help them.

Came to Guntersville 2 was ago. Had maybe 3 crappies barely big enough to keep. Had high hopes. I guess I just don’t know enough to get it done. Big letdown. And that was 3 days fishing.
Crappie have been tough lately. We need some current. That is what really gets them biting when all other conditions are tough.

Texas rig with 3/16oz bullet weight. They are also hitting a ribbon tail or speed worm pretty well right now in some areas. Also have a topwater walking bait ready. Fish are schooling in some areas!!!
