    I used to get up early on Saturday mornings back in 1975 when I was 9 years old and ride my bike to a drugstore that had all the Monogram armor kits including this one. I remember I bought the Sturmgeschutz IV and Grant.This brings back some memories. Shepard Paine who did the diaromas for Monogram back in the 70's was amazing. My favorite of mine was the ditched B-17G.

    Most of those old Monogram kits scale out closer to 1/35 than 1/32, so a lot of 1/35 scale aftermarket parts work with them just fine.

    I have two of those. One is pretty beaten up, the other one as nice as yours! I have most the other 1/32 armor that were available at the the time, except the japanese ones. Too bad Tamiya came around with those lame 1:35 kits. These are more fun!

      @@MrBelmosan Monogram had a great thing going with their 1:32 kits. Check out the rest of them. The Airfix Greif 250 is great too. Unfortunately that little 1:35 electric motor Panther from Tamiya became so popular it created a new standard and killed off the old 54mm / 1:32 standard. Even though Tamiya were really just doing random box scales! I think their M10 is actually 1:32. They were all over the place until they settled on the scale that the Panther just happened to be. Without Tamiya's scale tardiness you would have built plenty of 1:32 kits!

    • @MrBelmosan

      @@svensvensson2724 I might check other Monogram kits, because my experience with this one. You have to attach the side panels.. then the top. The sides are angled, and there's no way to test fit all three. So I very very deliberately glued the side panels on, and waited for them to dry. And prayed that the top piece would fit. Hahaha. When I put the top piece on, it fit perfectly. I was very impressed. All the chassis parts underneath fit very well as well.

      Lol.. guess what.. I'm still only half way through. I did in fact paint the lower hull, black. I ran some wiring and fiber optic lines through it. And it has been sitting ever since. With all those lines sticking out of it. I could never find out if it did have lighting. I ran a line for each navigation line also. Two lines for a rear light by the depth charges, and a sop light on the mast. I'm assuming the interior had some lighting. But, thank you for all the good information.

    The hulls of the E ('S') boats were made of wood ( So no rust) and the lower hull was painted black to preserves the wood, the red antifouling paint was made for metal hulled ships. This Airfix model is one of the early pre-war built boats, and was initially used to work-out what they were to be used for, and later used to train crews for the later boats namely the S100 series. During their war-time service the mast was either drastically shortened or removeds altogether. If you can find the Profile Publication No 31 is a good reference for both the early and later S type boats. Once you've got the hull / deck together the rest of the model goes together like a dream. Don't forget to assemble the hull port hole windows before adding the deck. And if making the full hull version note not all the propellers rotate in the same direction, (see instructions) The Airfix figures included in the kit are to my mind are the best Airfix ever produced and are well worth that little bit extra time to paint. If you want a model of the later S100 series with the armoured bridge try the Revell one in the same scale. Makes a good companion to the Airfix model. Have fun with the build.

    In the Polar Lights Re-release, the16-page color pamphlet was missing. The booklet is supposed to be rich in background/history and illustrate paint schemes. Now I have to wing it. I'm disappointed, but it's not a deal-killer. The shell parts are highly detailed, surprisingly so. The problem with clear plastic is that it scratches easily, so you must be extremely careful. Also, painting is a bitch. I'm faced with a huge masking problem in order to get the model to look like the cover art! And also had to buy an airbrush, which I've never used. But airbrushing is the only way to get this thing looking decent. The items on the tree are well-constructed and detailed and fit together perfectly. However, the 1-inch alien figures seemed at first unrealistically tiny in scale to the craft. (But they're not!) A thirteen-inch diameter shell at 1:48 scale would indicate the actual craft is about 52' in diameter, exactly what Bob Lazar reported. Four-foot characters in a 52-ft craft may seem eye-popping, but it's not unrealistic when you consider that we 6-ft creatures travel in 40-ft long airliners with a 36-ft wingspan, and we're almost twice as tall as the EBEs. A four-foot EBE on a 1:48 scale would be 1" in height, so it's right on. ABOUT ONBOARD ENERGY STORAGE: I can't find where anyone mentions onboard energy storage in relation to the S4 craft Lazar worked on. I would have expected the flight deck of the craft to be much thicker and layered with alternating dialectics and conductors to function as a giant capacitor for storing electro-gravitic energy. Like an electric automobile, a craft would seem to need an energy source to power-up and manage stable inflight energy flow (and preserve computer memory if it has one). I haven't found this issue mentioned anywhere on TH-cam except in relation to earlier alien reproduction vehicles.

      No, I did not. But I recently retired, and I'm cleaning up my cave. So I'm getting back into building. I'm kind of stuck on the Enterprise. I finished one of the engines, but I can't finish the second one. I used blue side emitting LED's, and I can't find them. I can't even find them online. Ugh.. we'll see if I eventually find them. Or perhaps create my own.

    • @TrekBuilder
      @TrekBuilder 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thank you for the response. It would be very nice to see any progress should you continue this build. Is there a reason why you couldn't just use blue LED tape instead? There is quite an abundance of that online.

    • @MrBelmosan
      @MrBelmosan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TrekBuilder Once inside the engines, they can look like blue dots. The side emitting LED's diffuse the light, so it has more of a glowing effect. I'll certainly do another video when I get back to it. Thanks for asking.

    What paint you recommend for this? I painted mine over ten years ago, but I would like to put a coat of something that really makes it shine. Looks great hanging from the ceiling but needs a realistic mirror finish. th-cam.com/video/s6xVCYnE6_8/w-d-xo.html Speed this up, but it is a book printed in ~1950, with the most important sightings til then. Keyhoe took a lot of flack for being , I assume, right. th-cam.com/video/DrfcoZCITac/w-d-xo.html The first five minutes might show us the propulsion but I can't find any power source, assume the trouble they have is the power source, ... if any of it is true.

    Mr. Belmosan. Hi!!! I just bought mine on Amazon... can’t wait for it to arrive. I’m from Santiago, Chile. I would like to ask you a couple of things; is glue required? Is all transparent or just partially? Any additional info would be appreciated. Thank you so much! Max M.

      I still haven't built it. The top and bottom domes are clear. All other parts are gray. You do need glue. I'm not sure how I'm gonna paint it, when I finally get to it. Good luck with yours!

      @@Repsol13 Thanks for the kind words. No I haven't. Life got in the way. But I'm close to retirement. Then I'm gonna make up for lost time. Lol
