How do you think the hot pickups affect the slap tone? I know slap isn't a big P-bass thing as much as a J, but I am wondering if it puts you closer to "the sound" with the extra hot pickups? I think your slap tone sounded pretty dang good on P Bass

Nice job! I absolutely love the finish on that Modulus.. Holy Sparkle, Matching headstock & all! Man isn’t Doug Johns stuff is a bi#* to transcribe & cover!?! It’s not just because his stuff is difficult (it is!!) he’s got a unique way with the time/feel, that reminds me of alot of New Orleans drummers. That kinda laid back southern, lazy/swampy groove sitting just behind the click, impossible to copy! And that’s before you gotta work out the multitude of different dynamic articulation & slippery approaches pre-note; slides, bends, hammers/pulls from above & below.. neck & behind the nut bends, rh ghost notes, pushing strings into the pickups in time.. and all the other noises, embellishments, and articulations ad-infinitum!!! 😉

Sounds more raw (therefore better) unrehearsed than I would imagine would sound otherwise.. it's a dirty song, it's supposed to sound a bit drunk to have that low ceiling smokey room vibe to it that Tom Waits embodies, that's dope musicianship right there, really great cover

Thanks for making a good demo of these pickups, as Melloncollie on your TB thread mentioned, Aguilar’s demos always sound the same and have that super-pillowy sound, and the ones I bought (and use) don’t sound much like their demos at all… this set sounds characterless in their demos, and your handiwork brings it to life. I am by no means an Aguilar hater but even in their P shootout, the HOT set sounds almost identical to their 60’s set, which is not the case in reality. These also sound like they have a wet blanket on them in their demo, they sound full of life and sonic goodness in your demo, so thanks again :)

hey man, love the playing! which song are you playing? quick question: how loud is it acoustically? is it possible to play with one or two ukes, or a guitar?

I have a Double 4 and a PB -100 powered extension cab and find PJB lower wattage stuff doesn't translate to the true wattage,not very loud.How is the volume on the 300 watt model?
