Melody writing with a simple motif
This is a common approach that I use when I write my melodies. This video was inspired partially by Synthet's FL Studio videos :)

Frostfire Project File Walkthrough
มุมมอง 2Kปีที่แล้ว
This is a short demo for my 2023 track "Frostfire". I'd love to go over the track in full detail, but that would take me hours - so this is a quick look at some of the parts of the track that I think are the most interesting! Hope you like it. Listen here: th-cam.com/video/a6gwspoujpc/w-d-xo.html
when is rotoscape coming
That second chord progression hits so hard!!! AND it brings it home really nicely with the first chord progression! How do i break out of the 'one progression through the whole song' prison? Anything new i try to add just sounds like a completely different song.
my balls started bursting off from this

I rlly need a bass tutorial djjsnsms
Ok great, now how do I make such an interesting bassline ;-;
you can steal mine if you want. or someone else's, then change it and make it your own. or just tap out a rhythm and do it yourself :D you can make amazing things, do not doubt :)
you are REALLY good at replicating this synthnet style, i wanna see you do more of these.
I want to do more of these! And I will. But I have too many projects haha
@@Geoplextra take your time. A rule I like to live by is "nothing good is made in a rush or on a tight scedule"
Amazing in-depth insight of this godly song. Thanks for sharing ❤ I love the 8dio caisa lib as well. I've been using it for quite some time now lol
lmao i can see the synthet inspiartion, love it!
I'm so ready for you to blow up!
A guy, a girl, or something else?، your music is amazing
FLP cuz I'd like to check the preset and the way you make these catchy synths cuts dude I swear you are a mix of TheFatRat and Timinite and MDK :D
Thanks! I don't have plans to share the flp for this song at the moment, sorry
@@Geoplextra completely understandable. Happened to me, I give away the FLP and a week later see that my work roaming online with someone else claiming it as his own. And there is no reason to apologize it is ur own work that u spent hours of ur own life working on :D
That teaches so much with so little time!! Completely astonishing, well done
good job geoplex! really love your videos and seeing you expanding the type of content is really nice! love your videos, keep it up man!
hey @Geoplextra amazing tutorial and if you dont mind me asking Im new to learning music but could you some this process up by first use base as the bottom layer second develope melody third use chords progression to fill in empty forth add variation also how does your choice in chord progression effect how you write your melody
Heya! I think writing a bassline is not necessary before you write a melody, but often a good idea. Writing a chord progression will help you conceptualize your melody more easily. I began with a bassline/chord progression, and then I wrote some notes out - as you see in the video, these notes are varied to form a motif - you could think of this motif as a "proto melody" or as a simple melody. It's from this motif that we base all our melodic variation. So, simplified, it might go: bassline, melody idea, variations of melody idea. This video is mostly to showcase that you can, by doing simple things, make something cool out of simple components. I hope that's elucidating to some extent
This is too cool. I love it!
What plugin for the sax? Sounds rlly damn nice
Sensual saxophone by embertone
I Just realized you're geoplex, gah damn. How do you even come up with that bassline it's genuinely so fire
All this in one take gang 👇
Can you please share the project with me I'm in love with it and I'd really like to study it :D
drive.google.com/file/d/1tMkXxlwvbo-38U9WAN81u4LiHyQaw3fU/view?usp=sharing just for you :)
I've cleaned the file up and rendered stems for all the instruments, so you can hear what it sounds like! I've also left all the instruments intact, but they are all 3rd party so you may not be able to hear them unless you have bought them. You're welcome to use anything in this file for whatever purposes you like, but please bear in mind that many of the samples used are licensed via 3rd party (I got them all from Splice, probably) and so I cannot give you permission to use them for any commercial purpose. But any of the stems, midi, etc, I can give you permission to do literally whatever you would like with.
If you are unfamiliar with keyswitch libraries, you may find the "keyswitch patterns" confusing - they are just midi-based programming used to switch between different parts of a library. You should ignore them :)
@@Geoplextra Omg tysm for responding!! I'm so exited :D
@@Geoplextra I know them I use a midi keyboard to write orchestral scores and I know how to install and purchase libraries + I already have kontakt Thanks you so much dude :D
This might just be the solution to my problem
wwhat is this genre btw
I dunno, I wasn't really going for anything in particular. It's just something funky
@@Geoplextra k thanks
I thought the part where you switched the chord progression sounded familiar, only to realize you are THE Geoplex
I struggle with composing since my creativity is usually unleashed on my drums and bass, i like artcore so i often use violins or harpsichords (strange i know right ?) or even dynamic locked pianos, this just helped me a lot, since i decided to use my really good drum rhythms with my chords and melody, it helped a lot, tysm :)
Love learnig new stuff, thanks dude!
Dope
dope track mate 🤟
found a gem music channel with very few subs nice yt
Wow, we need a more in depht tutorial, but man this is great ! May i ask what software are you using ? Iam in intense look for a software to compose music but they are either too simple, or overcomplicated, i just need a midi editor with instruments that sound great. So if you know a free software that could suit me, please let me know too.
This is FL studio 21. I'm not sure that I can recommend you any free software as I've not used any free daws myself, sorry 😔
@@Geoplextra Oh, this software again ! Wow FL studio is very popular i see... Well, its fine, but you know, that could be a *video idea: "best free daws to make awesome music".* 😉
What is the name of the soundfont you used for the main lead?
Check the description :)
Love the synthet editing format. This is awesome :D

I love this kind of tutorial. It cements the idea in the mind and is enjoyable to watch, increasing engagement. If you forget something, rewatching is also a lovely experience because of how fun it is
Reminds me of Synthlets channel! Love it! Thanks for the tips!
But does the bassline have to be this complex? Can't it be just a couple of notes, like three or less, to not clash with the motif?
For sure! A bassline can be as simple or complex as you want - and your melody doesnt need to be in lock-step with your bassline, either. You may notice that for the "mix up" variations of the motif in this video, we vary the rhythm of the melody, and it no longer follows the bassline. You can do whatever you want :)
Can I use this is my factory builder game?
only one way to find out
@@Geoplextraw song btw
I've been working away on remixing and other stuff, these kinds of videos always inspire me and give me tips to follow with. Earnt my subscription.
❤❤❤ Where's the full version of this song? 🕺
you can listen to the song without dialogue in the description, but the song as it is in this video is the entire thing, sorry :)
Great advice
I love synthet style videos
My guy made the toughest shit ever, what this style called?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ funk maybe haha

You’re now one of my biggest inspirations honestly. This song makes me just want to make a song of my own.
That's so delightful 😍 go make music!!!!
@@Geoplextra Will do!! :D
Do you have absolute ear ?
Perfect pitch? No, I do not
Making music while the same song plays in the tutorial is genius
Bro i cant find good sounds for the making melodies everytime my sounds glitching how i can fix it? (i am using audiotool)
I'm not familiar with audiotool, sorry
@@Geoplextra ok thanks anyways
What saxophone is that? And where can I find it?
Sensual sax by embertone. You'll need kontakt to run it
Question, what sax is that?
