I don't understand the point of the Inbox. It makes it feel like an email app. I want a storage app. The inbox makes it confusing and I can't hide it/not use it. Also, when I used version 2, the database(s) got corrupted. I did not have a good experience. I wanted to like it, but it didn't seem user-friendly to my mind. I liked Evernote's interface, but didn't like their pricing. I just went to Apple Notes and called it done.

Thank you so much for your tutorials on DevonThink! I first tried it out many years ago, and I’ve just recently purchased it. It’s absolutely the best app for keeping track of a lot of “stuff.” As a long-time user of OmniFocus (which I love) and Bear, I needed something to manage my data and documents. DevonThink is perfect-it’s powerful, usable on multiple Macs, and highly organizable and searchable. Thank you, thank you!

another awesome video! thank you 🙏 it seems important to note that if you select "unify tags" and are looking up top in the global area, you may notice what appears to be two identical tags. but they're not identical; they're both in different databases but have the same name. i didn't catch on to this at first and started deleting duplicate tags! in my defense, there was a bug that did duplicate tags coming from DTTG. so always check before deleting what appears to be a duplicate tag. select it and check info to see if they're both in different databases!

this was a great intro into duplicates and replicants. but i notice that the colors didn't change. perhaps that a new update from DT? my replicas turn red. the problem is trying to delete: if you delete the replicant's it deletes the original-sometimes, if you hold down some modifyer keys, that will do the trick, but sometimes not. i'd love to watch a follow up of the intricacies of deleting replicants. duplicates seems pretty straight forward. 😜

Stage manager, spaces, mission control. They should make up their mind and fix this disaster. These tools are fighting all the time and there are unsolved bugs that turned osx into a unusable system.

Hey - totally down to how you work. For me, I prefer Obsidian solely because a lot of my workflows have Obsidian at the centre, but I know lots of people who use DT for note-taking and it works well.

I also tried to make a folder with indexed about 70 volumes of a magazine. Unfortunately, dragging is not possible because as soon as I am in the finder where that large folder is located, the Devonthink app slides off the screen. So I never get finder and Devonthing in one screen. So I did it via menu and then index folders etc, that seems to work but now I have the same in both my database and in the inbox folder.

Hey man your videos about DEVONthink are really awesome and helpful. I just got the problem that when im indexing a folder (Academy) from my NAS to Devonthink everything looks fine. After closing and starting the program again then the indexed files are gone, nothing there :( Maybe you can help me? The NAS didn't loose connection at this time... Thanks in advance and greetings from Berlin :)

Hey thanks for the comments, really kind! I’ve tried to replicate this evening by indexing folders/files on my own NAS , then restarting DEVONthink and I can’t replicate it - even if I drop the connection to the NAS, the files appear (although cannot of course access because the volume isn’t mounted) So I’m afraid I don’t know but will do a little looking
