The 10 Most Stagnant Skylines In The US

This is a video that will go over the 10 most stagnant skylines of major US cities and explains why they are so stagnant. Omaha?
Almost wish it was a North American list. Would love places like Yellowknife & Kelowna to gets some love. Still, very good though!
Oklahoma City built the BOK park plaza and renovated the bancfirst tower
Savannah GA has built and opened a Scad Tower, 17 floors and over 200ft Tall
Madison actually doesn’t allow buildings to be built higher than the Capital. I always wondered what it would look like if that weren’t the case.
In the video, I forgot to mention that there are timestamps for each city located in the description. Make sure to use them if you want to find a specific city.
4:09. I went into this building up to a high floor library, it had panaramic views of the city really high and it was free since its a court house, I think they have a top floor library I want to check out next
No love for Connecticut, eh? Hartford is less than 125K population yet has the skyline of a city 4x its size. Stamford isn't too shabby either - it even has (probably renamed now) a Trump Tower.
Most of the Myrtle Beach skyline is oceanfront hotels.
I am from 45 minutes from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Besides the large skyline, the traffic is like a much bigger city.
If you're going to show Blackrock, CO, you should've shown Primm, NV. Similar permanent population with three good sized highrises.
I consider South Padre Island is part of Brownsville metro. However, brownsville has a metro population of 500k people but has no highrises or tall buildings. Pretty suprised how SPI has a big skyline tbh
How about Whittier, Alaska? The whole population of the town lives in a 14-story building
You don't have Hartford, CT on this list? It has a downtown skyline that would rival much larger cities like Indianapolis or Cleveland.
The reason why LA doesn't have too many tall skyscrapers is because they have building codes there. They have earthquakes, and a powerful one would make them topple over like dominoes. That's why they don't have them in Tokyo, either. Washington, DC, like Austin, Texas, have height restrictions because they want people to see the Capital. As far as Oklahoma City goes, I imagine that's all gonna change after they build the Legends Tower, which is supposed to be the tallest building in the US.
Bluefield and Fairmont West Virginia could be possibilities
WATERTOWN, NY PROVO, UTAH WALLA WALLA, WA WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS SAGINAW, MICHIGAN PONTIAC, MICHIGAN KENOSHA, WI QUINCY, MASS. PATERSON, NJ LAKELAND, FLORIDA NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA CONCORD, CALIFORNIA NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK COVINGTON, KENTUCKY
Here's an idea for making videos about small cities: Small cities with their own television station markets; Suggestions... WTWO-TV 2 (NBC) Terre Haute, Indiana WCIA-TV 3 (CBS) Champaign-Urbana, IL WKBT-TV 8 (CBS) LaCrosse, WI WBKO-TV 13 (ABC) Bowling Green, Kentucky WETM-TV 18 (NBC) Elmira, NY KFVS-12 (CBS) Cape Girardeau, MO WJHL-TV 11 (ABC) Johnson City/Bristol, TN ETC.
Well Beckley/Oak Hill WV is one of the smallest TV markets with a full lineup of stations.
Bellevue, Everett, Tacoma, and Bellingham Washington are part of the Seattle area. However, they have good skylines of their own.
Hey! I'm loving this series but you should definitely include Cleveland - OH. urban population for around 350,000 wiht multiple buildings over 500ft. very impressive for the size
BELLINGHAM, WA YAKIMA, WA EVERETT, WA SPARTANBURG, SC LANCASTER, PA HAMILTON, OHIO MACON, GEORGIA SAINT JOSEPH, MISSOURI ANDERSON, INDIANA
Springfield or Branson MO?
Iowa City, and Waterloo? Is that good?
SIOUX CITY, IOWA SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA EVERETT, WA EUGENE, OREGON STAMFORD, CT BRIDGEPORT, CT MONROE, LOUISIANA EVANSTON, IL ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, IL IOWA CITY, IOWA
UTICA, NY WHITE PLAINS, NY SPRINGFIELD, OHIO WORCESTER, MASS. SARASOTA, FL WAUSAU, WISCONSIN LAFAYETTE, INDIANA NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY VENTURA, CA READING, PA MANKATO, MINN. ENID, OKLAHOMA FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
I’m from San Diego and we don’t have a building over 500 feet 😂😂😂
The reason why Phoenix doesn't have any tall buildings is because their airport is very close to downtown, so there's been height restrictions for decades.
Shreveport LA
Berkeley California, Oakland California, Marysville California, Stockton California, SantaRosa California, Ocean side California, Long Beach California, Irvine California, South Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada. All of them have decent and or great skylines, But it’s hard to find good pictures and maybe videos on some of them. Such as Marysville and Ocean side, they have great skylines because I’ve been there, But Google images doesn’t have any or much good pictures, But Google maps street view will show you, Or there might be some videos here on TH-cam. I just Subscribed
Coshocton Ohio, lima Ohio, and Dublin ohio
Still waiting for Madison WI....even though its bigger than many of the cities on the list it has and Urban population of 450K
The first interstate center in Montana is that states tallest building... btw did u do new haven
Youngstown used to be a big city :(
BRO THAT IS NOT A BIG SKYLINE! STOP IT NOW!
I feel as if Albany NY should be number 1... its just 5 buildings & the egg
Rochester,NY metro is over 1 million ppl your data is a little off bro!!
Pensacola Beach I feel counts. It's included in urban Pensacola but it's separated by enough water that it feels like its own thing.
At 9:03 you show a photo of Sacramento. That really tall building in the middle doesn't exist. It was a proposal that never got built. So you actually made it look nice than it actually is! Just an FYI.
I did not expect my hometown of Springfield to be the first on this list. Slight correction. The state capitol is actually a little taller than the Hilton. But the capitol is at the bottom of a hill while the Hilton is at the top of the same hill. So it's top is higher than the capitol's.
Wow, I never expected my hometown of Abilene, Texas to make it to this list. So nice to see it on here. Keep up the good work!
cumberland md should be on there
Other "major" cities excluded: Buffalo, Kansas City, & Saint Paul
Nice to see Lynchburg make the list. Downtown is on a pretty steep slope down to the James River making the skyline look more impressive than it would on flat ground. It's a small downtown but still looks great! I especially love the views coming into the city from the east side of the river.
i believe lake charles louisiana should be on the list also..
Lake Charles was featured in Pt. 1. It's tallest building will be demolished on Sept. 7th.
if you havent done it yet you should do hartford, only around 120k people but big skyline
Fuuny about the Tower of Americas in San Antonio: it has a rotating restaurant and for years a lot of what you were looking at from that tower was the most notorious housing project in the city: namely, Victoria Courts. The city tore it down 15-20 years ago if I remember right but I always found it funny tourists were looking down at an incredibly dangerous housing project for a lot of the ride in the tower restaurant. But the city always kept a nice coat of paint on the roofs of the buildings to keep them from looking as crap as they really were from the restaurant 700 feet above them.
Since you bring up Minot, ND, that's the first place in the US that would be likely to be hit by a nuclear strike in the event of nuclear war since it has a ton of Minuteman III missiles. Probably better to live there and get blown up immediately than live 50 miles away and die from the fallout instead I guess, as it would be hit by a bunch of ground-burst nukes that kick up enormous fallout into the atmosphere.
Winston-Salem is home to the Reynolds Building which was the architectural inspiration for the Empire State Building.
Take a look at Davenport, Iowa. Metro population of 385k.
