I'm taking a rough cut cnc plasma cut flange then using the cnc mill to clean things up. Problems with using a cnc plasma table for header flanges. 1) not able to do bolt holes, 2) some taper on the primary hole cuts.

My first CNC attempt at milling some hard jaws went 50/50
มุมมอง 674 ปีที่แล้ว
Have to sort out a issue with using the spot drill then using a jobber bit after. I ended up cheating and milling out my pocket hole and using a transfer punch to mark the drill location. Then it was off to the trusty drill press.

What is your tolerances like now?
On Franco's diagram he connected the direction and speed signal to set of pins on controller. On my PM-30, I do not have the 7 pin connector, Did you wire the kbsi directly into the connections that went to the POT and DIRECTION switches?
How's she holding up? Did you have to modify the machine at all? Any grinding or cutting the machine to get stuff to fit? Nice machine btw.
Did you disable or bypass the power switch on the PM25. I noticed in your video the Green light on the switch is not on. Or maybe it just does not show up in the video. I am currently converting my PM25 and sort of want the CNC controller to turn the master switch.
Do you have to cut anything out of the saddle or do any modifications to make the kit fit?
looks great
nice. i got my kit for the pm-30 from arizonavideo99 as well. so far so good.
Cool cool. Glad to hear you got it. I'm happy with the kit and my machine is still trucking along.
You can just G91G1X1.0F10. If you want to move incrementally
Thanks.
Are you still liking the drewtronics?
Yes I use it a couple times a week. No problems at all.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing this! I also have the 98z machine and currently Im working on trying to get it functioning again. Would you be able to share how the plasma cutter will connect with the table? I know that model of hypertherm is discontinued but would I have to have an older cutter like that or would a new one work? If you can share or explain that part it would help me greatly!
Sorry for the super late reply. I bought my table already setup from the previous owner. I hope you have it figured out by now.
@@ponydowncnc8365 It's alright bud! I've recently sold my 98z and bought the next newer model from a friend of mine that I know works and I have "borrowed" the use of on some projects in the past.
Where can u get all that?
Search Arizona cnc kit. That will get you the info you need. He is also here on youtube.
No luck couldn't find him on Amazon
@@alansitooo5297 he's not on Amazon. Google "Arizona video cnc kit" I believe he is on cnc zone under the same name.
Are you powering all this off of 110v?
Yes it's all off 110. I did buy a 12v power supply to run my fans but I have not installed it yet.
Hello, I just got one of the same probes and I have the same acorn cnc board. how did you wire it up? Mine seems to trigger fine but has no LED. I have it red wire from the acorn board input and black to common. did you do it the same?
Ross. I used the centroid diagram for a normally open probe. I also had to install a toggle switch when the probe wasn't in use.
How are you liking the acorn? I’m debating on a controller for a outdated cnc 1440 lathe. I looked at the Masso, ess, centroid oak, csmio... list just keeps going. I’ve read that support from centroid is pricy and that they can be rude. How was your support?
Im liking it alot. No problems at all. But then again its my first cnc milling machine . I got a lot of my inspiration from franco cnc here on youtube.
Keep spindle turning and the chips flying, good job!
Thanks Bud. My next real project is making a handle bar mount for my dirt bike for some bark busters. We will see how it turns out!
@@ponydowncnc8365 How do you like the hand pendent, may be my next purchase ?
@@makosharkcnc7730 I love it!!! I cant imagine life with out it now. The way I have it mounted on my enclosure lets me put my head in close and make adjustments really quickly.
I would be happy to help you with that
bad switch on the Z?
It might of been. I switched it out.
Hey, me again. Just wondering what kind of/ gage wires you’ve got
I used 18 gauge for everything since I had a ton of it. Some people use shielded wire but I figured if I had a problem I woukd chsnge it. But I have not had a problem.
@@ponydowncnc8365 Thanks for all of the help, just completed the electronics on my machine today. weary dropping the dough on the conversion kit still. lol
@@OscDog1 nice. Congrats. Yea I just ordered a drewtronics probe and the cebtroid wireless controller. I do like the controller by far.
Hey, I just bought a PM25MV for conversion, and am looking at similar closed-loop steppers on eBay (1 nema 34, and 2 nema 23s). I am having a hard time choosing the correct power supplies for them. Reading lots of articles and only getting more confused with the voltages and ams stuff. Any reccomendations for resources or products?
The ebay buyer I bought from had a power supply with the option for the motor and drivers kits. For the Nema 23 I used their power supply but for the Nema 34 I didn't use the power supply (transformer) it came with. So I ended up ordering a400watt 60 volt power supply just for the Nema 34 from Amazon. The ebay seller I used was fasttobuy I believe. Let me know if that helps.
@@ponydowncnc8365 yup, thanks, purchased my goods and eager to get started!
@@OscDog1 sounds good. Good luck!
Did you get my last message on the spindle control video?
Let me go look!
I dont see it. Do you have a particular question that I can help with.
@@ponydowncnc8365 no question. We talked before under my name. James Reed. I just started this channel My spindle control is working great
@@rpmcncchannel4147 ahhh. Got it now. Nice. I just subbed to your channel. I'll peep out your videos. 👍
@@ponydowncnc8365 thoughts on my build?
It is easy to crack plexi-glass by drilling holes. To avoid that, take a nail and heat it up with a torch then push it thru the plexi-glass. It is quick and easy to do.
very good idea. I'm surprised I did not think about that one. Thanks for the tip!
How did you make the connections inside the pm25mv motor control box? Did you completely disconnect the potentiometer and connect the wires from the kbsi 240d to those wires? If so can you show the connections? The forward / reverse part is easy but the speed control part is where I'm not sure. Please help Thanks
James. I don't have any pictures or video of that part. What I did was find the correct plug wires coming off the pm25 board and I cut them in half and only connected the wires from the board to the wires that went to the board. That left me about 3" on each end incase I made a mistake. Did you download the diagram from Francos video?
@@ponydowncnc8365 no I didn't I will go look now and see if it makes it clear to me. By the way... I have enjoyed your videos. I am building one hell of a PM25mv I will post after the build is complete. My main concern was the wiring inside the PM25 and I don't think Franco covered the actual wire up. Thanks for your help so far.
@@jamesreed5226 yea between Francos video he posted and the diagram that guy made for him it was rather easy to get things working. I'll sub to you so I can check it out when it's done. I'm glad you have enjoyed the videos. Unfortunately I can do Videos much much better but I don't have the time. So some quickies are what I post. Lol
looking nice
Thanks. As long as it keeps the chips in I'll be happy.
@@ponydowncnc8365 check out my PM25mv build
Can you make a tutorial on the wiring?
This is who I got my info from. He does a great job explaining it. He also has a link to a wiring diagram. That's exactly how I did my wiring. th-cam.com/video/-h4k-9qlTHo/w-d-xo.html
There's a mist/flood coolant check box in each tool in fusion that will insert the M07/M08 into the G code automatically. If the 'auto' box is on in the VCP, it should turn on when the cycle starts
If you open your G code before you put it in the machine, and do a ctrl+F (find), and look for any of the M0 commands, you'll see them right after the cool change command
Thank you very much. I wasn't sure exactly which part would turn it on. :)
Maybe I missed it, and I am in the process of 'researching', but what tells the spindle to switch directions via that 10v pair of wires? I mean, the program calls to switch directions via M03, M04, and M05 - but I am trying to understand how it stops and switches directions. (I just ordered my Acorn, and trying to get all ducks in a row before it gets here)
My understanding is that the 0-10v comes from acorn and is adjusted in the board. From the board it will goto the machine for 0-5v. I also have 2 outputs on the relay board programmed for spindle forward and one for spindle reverse. Franco cnc on here does a better explanation and shows a wiring diagram. That's the same info I used.
@@ponydowncnc8365 ahhhh.. ok, I've seen some of his videos. I'll go check it out! Thanks! Ps, I do a lot of turbo fab work, and may or may not have a 7 sec fox body on my channel ;)
@@diygaragetx I'll have to check it out for sure. Just in case there is one. Wink wink
I totally missed the part about not having a VFD and a 3phase motor - Now it makes a lot more sense. I thought I might have been missing something!
@@diygaragetx yep. Just a stock 110 motor. In a video Franco said its easier with a vfd. So idk since I have not been down that road. Good luck!

Thanks!
good job, i still need to do limit switches yet
I like them. It gives me a piece of mind.
Someone is Having a good time! looks nice
Thanks. Yea it's nice to make some progress. I also did some engraving with a diamond drag tip after that but I didn't load it up.
Great job. Your leaving me in the dust.lol
Haha. Just trying to keep moving with the project. Running out of supplies for building the enclosure seems to be the battle now. But I do need to learn fusion 360 better and set up my tool heights in cnc12.
wow you been really busy, looking good, i just gotten my pc case, it will be little awhile for i get everything move in it, right now i don't have a lot of free time
Yea I better stay busy while I'm motivated. I work for a chrysler assembly plant and we are off wotk till the beginning of May. That gives me some time to finish this stuff while I can. Good luck on your electronics enclosure build.
Looking good. If you have smaller bits that might let you get away with a higher RPM and not stall out. Chips looked good, those blackened ones from last time definitely had too much heat in them
Thanks Jake. Yea trying to figure out the feeds and speeds seems to be the chore. Lol. I'm just going to start keeping a journal of what is working and what isn't working for them. I'm going to possibly do a dmm spindle motor upgrade. If you ever seen Kent's cnc pm25 youtube channel he just did one and the low end Torque is great.
Thanks for the video! Wow you got everything in there, I'm going to try the same thing! I agree $165-$200 for a enclosure is a bit much but i'm sure there nice, say I see you welded your back support is that something that needs to be done?
Yea it nice and compact some but it works well. I did make a cardboard cover for the top and the back where I still have some openings. I'm just waiting on making my enclosure. The state of Michigan is on lock down at the moment.
nice job, i'm trying to figure out a electronics enclosure
Thanks Bud. I'm happy with my mid tower PC enclosure for the price. It was like $40 through Amazon. I'll be doing a video soon of it.
