What stitch length are you using with the sewing machine? In quilting, if a 1.5 or 2.0 stitch length is used, backstitching isn't needed, as these seams are sewn over when putting the patches together. Yes, pressing the seams as you go does help!! Great increase in your quilting knowledge curve!!

Great fabric choices in these HST's! I saw that you were very careful cutting the HST's in half, but, please use a much wider Ruler! The rotary cutter blade can "hop" the rulers edge and slice your fingers! This is true with any width of Ruler, but less likely with a wider Ruler, at least 3" wide, or wider! Thank you!

Tips: 1. Always start a new project with a new blade. On this project, maybe you will have to change it once or twice. 2. Do try to hold the rotary cutter as an extension of your hand; do not arch your wrist as it will get tired & sore, quickly. 3. There is a flattened area at the plastic handle area nearly over the blade, this is designed for the pointer finger pad. 4. CLOSE the blade cover before you put the rotary cover down, EACH AND EVERY TIME !!! These blades are very sharp. The sharp edge is similar to a scalpel and it cuts through skin very easily. For now, you are only cutting through 1 layer of fabric and you WILL progress to cutting 2 layers together. 5. Press the seam as it was sewn, from the front of your piece, toward the "dark" fabric, on all of these seams when pressing a 2 patch block. This is called "setting the seam". It relaxes the freshly sewn threads as you warm them Then, when two 2-patches are placed right sides together, the the seams are "opposing seams". 6. Press (not iron...moving iron back and forth or around and around) the seams flat. These opposing seams will slide together much easier. 7. Pressing: placing iron down on fabric, lift it up. Place the iron down on the next area. I find it easy to feel through the fabric: a space between the seams, slide those fabric edges together so you cannot feel that space. Then, Sew the seam. 8. Best practice is to use a "dry" iron first [no steam]; then if you are satisfied, you may chose to Press with steam. Hope this makes sense to you. Biggest tip: ALWAYS CLOSE THE ROTARY BLADE COVEF before your hand places this tool on the table. Great job. I enjoy hearing your summary of what you learned from this process!

This maneuvering of the fabric is called "in hand" stitching...the same as for counted cross stitching. It is how I prefer to manipulate my fabrics while stitching quilts together and while stitching a counted cross stitch design.

Yay, hand quilting, once you get the Sampler Quilt top completed! How will be measuring and cutting the fabrics for each block? Will you be hand stitching the block together? In our "quilting world" there are several basic tools recommended and it all can get expensive... just cautioning words. I have been quilting for more than 32 years, now. There are Beginner quilting instructions by more than 1 TH-cam Creator. I do recommend the FAT QUARTER SHOP TH-cam videos for new quiltmakers. Just look for a group of videos under their Playlist on their introduction page. By the way, when showing someone else's patterns on TH-cam, you must not show the pattern or instructions. Just show the photo of the block so you are not "freely" giving away the author's work. That way, it encourages others to find the book and possibly to buy it. Some other TH-cam Creators will cover the pattern + instructions with a sticky note paper, or paperclip a paper over the instructions. Others will move the book off camera for a second or two, to find just the block photo, then return that photo page to the camera... just my 2 cents. If you wish, watch Kimberly Jolly on FQS: Fat Quarter Shop TH-cam as she reviews other's books or patterns. She often does it the way I described in her Floss Tube Videos...which are for Counted Cross Stitchers. The point is to preserve the author's Copyright.

In hand quilting, as in Counted Cross Stitching, I weave the ends under the straight part of the stitches. These needleworks skills and techniques are similar. I think the biggest difference is the length of the thread used.

Great progress and your review shows improvement! I hand quilt wall hanging quilts and have seen the improvement in my own hand quilting stitches. I rock the quilting needle in the hand quilting style, too.

That's helpful. What do you do with the thread next? How do you store it?. I agree that the loose braid makes it easier to choose one thread at a time, so these long threads do not get tangled. I have been placing a 2-inch metal ring in the middle of my long, unbraided hanks. Braiding comes next, then I hang them on a used tie or belt hanger. It is then not folded, easy to see many colors, and to remove my color choice easily. I use this same process with my overdyed Counted Cross Stitch threads that are not pre-cut.

Hi. Enjoy your youtube videos. Just wanted to make a quick comment. I've been playing violin for approximately 4 years now -- teaching myself, relying on online advice, tutorials and demonstrations to guide me on the way. On my journey, I've realized how important slow, concentrated practice is, not to mention recognizing and working on any weaknesses in my playing -- isolating them and working through them. I've found that slow, careful practice, no matter what the piece and no matter how well I may or may not play it --- always improves my playing. I truly need to allot more time to such practice, regardless that I find it a bit tedious after a short time. It's always beneficial.

Have you seen Intelli adm 770? It's a mixture of digital with analog because it has the pendulum. I couldn't find any video of it on the internet and I'd like to know how its beats sound.

What shoulder rest are you using?

I am interested in this shoulder rest. Understand that the contact of the feets to the violin is minimised but I still worry that the rubber may make some marks or scratches on the soft varnish of the violin.

I think the second to last note on those verses is a C# which I would play with a high 3 finger on the G string. I practice this song too so you give me encouragement to play it too. Great job so far
