From Startup to Acquisition: Building a Business & Taking Risks
In this week's episode, I’m joined by Dan Lipman
Dan has a story that would serve as inspiration to many aspiring entrepreneurs - Starting out working for a big corporation before joining a start up, to then taking the leap to start his own venture, and being acquired within just 8 months.
This has been a rollercoaster ride for Dan and his business partner, but he provides an insight into the risks he took to get there. In this conversation, you can expect to learn how they came up with their business idea and honed in on their niche, whether finding the perfect time to start a business ever comes, what Dan looks for when hiring staff, as well as sharing the business lessons he’s learnt along the way.

    I find it odd that they wouldn't do both? Why not take the boost his comments make and try to covert that into a lasting customer base. In a year, when he's touting another new investment where will these companies be?

    Just another example of how the cost of living has moved significantly, but wages are still dog shit. These governments have money. Tax alone brings in bajillions. They can afford to pay good staff with good skills. But they don't, because the wider job market hasn't shifted up. But think of it from this side of the coin. If you're a wizz at cyber security, you can hack and ransom 10x that amount, AND get it paid. Hackers and cyber sec staff are worth paying to have on YOUR SIDE. In Australia 60k pounds is about 100k AUD. That's just the average job now.

    But its not cyber security for the UK its only for the treasury, the screeenshot shows that quite clearly. Still way too low a salary though, should be at least double that

    IDK if I was lucky, but it’s been over 9 months and I don’t crave a drop of alcohol, the key difference was that I didn’t suffer withdrawal after go’ogling and reading Steffon Barkload’s stuff, not even within the first 30 days after I quit and told no one, did not need AA meetings or meds either.

    It is not ‘increasing’, there was nothing to increase. It is adding VAT for services that private schools provide. Just like all of us when we pay for services. If the rich can afford to send their kids to private schools, they can pay VAT 🎉

    • @AmbitiousMindsPodcast
      @AmbitiousMindsPodcast หลายเดือนก่อน

      The issue isn’t whether families can afford the higher fees - it’s about the unintended consequences. By making private schools more exclusive, it shuts out thousands of parents who were already stretching their finances to afford private education for their children, but aren’t ‘rich’. These students will then move to state schools, adding pressure to the public system. As a result, teachers may demand higher salaries to manage the increased workload, potentially leading to higher public sector wage growth and increased taxes. In the end, if the goal was to raise more tax revenue, it could end up costing taxpayer more. And if the intention was to reduce elitism, it might actually make it worse!

    • @akosiamarillo
      @akosiamarillo หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AmbitiousMindsPodcast the rich will always pay for private education for advantage. they are addicted to this. thus there will always be private school institutions and students. those scraping by getting their children to private education actually already is a burden to public finances as they have nothing saved up for retirement. all for the mistaken belief that private education is ‘better’. gcse and a level results says otherwise. their children are better off in public school and parents can instead invest in their retirement. the end goal is to fund our education system and to make more resources available. i dont see it costing the taxpayers, it may actually improve the education of our children. the rich will always be elite, nothing will change that.
